Week 12...Norwayne Bobcats vs. Orrville Red Riders
-
Riderfan17Great players play their best in big games. This game is week 12 and it's been wanted and anticipated since summer which adds the importance of it but from week 11 on every game is a big game and if a player wants to be remembered as great they need to perfom week in and out.. I believe we will see both teams best players step up but the role players on the teams will be a big factor as well

This is one of the dumbest things i have read on here. We are not superior to anyone we just take pride in how hard our kids and coaches work. There is nothing wrong with being proud of our program. Orrville folks are some of the most hard working, down to earth, friendly people you could ever meet. We have a great community and great kids and we are damn proud of it. Coaches and players alike have worked there asses off to make our program what it is. The problem with you and the rest of wayne county is your thinking towards orrville. You are all jealous of the things orrville has accomplished. We were not just given the success we enjoy , we are blessed with kids, and coaches willing to work very hard for it. They have goals and they bust ass to acheve them. Try it sometime maybe your school can start building a tradition to be proud of !1486wd;960896 wrote:i do think orrville will win this game, but I also think they feel more pressure to do so. Talk to anyone from orrville and they feel such superiority to everyone else in the county that losing is really not an option they can fathom. They almost remind me of an SEC college football fan, they know they're good, but they need everyone to tell them how good they are all the time (kind of like the pretty, insecure girl at the dance). -

well said 81. We take pride in our teams and how hard they work day in and out all season long and year long. Not many teams can boast about 22 playoff appearances and nearly 600 win in fact if I remember right when we get to 600 we will be one of three( I may be wrong) teams with 600 wins and 20 playoff appearances either way it's a rare clubRed Rider81;961936 wrote:This is one of the dumbest things i have read on here. Nice breakdown oqb pretty much covers it all.OQB;961210 wrote:Here are my comparisons and how I see them.
Coaching: Orrville BY FAR! Harbour and his entire staff is under 30 years old and do not make adjustments well....inexperience in these types of games I think will play a part in the outcome.
Defensively: Orrville, but if our offense plays like they have at times this year (penalties, turnovers, negative plays), Norwayne has the guys to shut us down, when we're down. Norwayne has shut out good and bad D IV/V/VI teams...We have shut down good and bad D. II and III teams...who have a few recruits making plays for them.
Offensively: I would say this is a tie. We have seen just how good our offense can be (Northwest, Triway, Lexington, Wooster, Labrae) and we have seen what happens when we don't show up (Copley, Senior, Ashland) Norwayne has put up numbers that are really eye popping, but they really got slowed down when they actually played playoff caliber teams in Hillsdale and Smithville....but they also put up 42 against Brookfield
Key matchups this week:
Wallace is a very good athlete and has had an outstanding career for the Bobcats...we have seen better QB's though in the past 2 seasons.... he is not as good as Fuller, better runner than Carmichael, but not as good passer, Elyria QB was better passer, Northwest QB is better passer. The thing with Wallace is you have to get pressure and make him uncomfortable. Smithville and Hillsdale were able to get a lot of pressure on him and make him throw off balanced and sacked him quite a few times. That will be key....I could see White and Lemon having a a great game getting pressure....along with the other front 7. Where Wallace beats you is with his feet, again deceptively fast, but nothing that makes me worried....we just have to be able to tackle him and not let him have YAC....because he can break tackles. I see him more as a RB that can throw than a QB that can run. Has a good arm, but accuracy isn't great. I can't wait to see how he takes a hit from Mason haha!
Will the Zimmerly brothers be able to run on our defense? We have shut down every running game we have played this season, and I think it continues this week. Both boys are deceptively fast, but nothing we haven't seen before (maybe like WH rb's) they like to run over people, but have been able to get to the edge in the wcal. It will be important to get them down on first contact and not let them get YAC.
Offensive lines are very similar....in size and ability. Both lines have gone against big lines all year and have done a pretty good job with protection and blocking
WR's: Norwayne has 1 really fast athlete...Kaleb Harris who is only a sophomore. He is about 6'3" and probably is a 4.6 guy.. He is their return man, safety, and subs in at WR. Other than him I think the receivers are good, but nothing we haven't seen before.......Northwest, Copley, Ashland, and Lexington all have better athletes at WR imo.
Kicking game: Orrville by far.....this is their weakness and have struggled all year in the kicking game. Haven't really kicked deep in the games I've seen and like to onside, or pooch kick. Dylan and Drew could come up big for us this week. with field position. Turner obviously is the fastest guy on the field...he can make anything happen if he gets the ball.
Key for Orrville is to shut the run game down, if we do that imo....they will be in trouble. -

Sorry Pitman....I was tired of all the senseless/panty bunching posts. I look forward to read your take for this game.thePITman;961883 wrote:I'm with Red Rum that 8 teams is the best bet, right now, for the playoffs. Maybe we should go "BCS" all up in here, combining Harbins with a human poll for each region. Oh boy, wouldn't that be fun!? LoL
I really enjoyed OQB's rundown. Very informative. But he kinda stole my thunder since I was planning on doing a similar breakdown later this week. Haha! I'll still give my thoughts in a few days in similar fashion.
We have always been blessed with kids that can perform on any given night and at multiple positions. Coaches will make the decision they feel is the best to win THIS game.Riderfan17;961892 wrote:yes they will it's nice to have a quarterback who's mobile and who has the hot hand right now and a qb who has the experience of leading a team to the Final Four

Excellent synopsis 81...excellent. Some outsiders look at our success differently, but that is it 100%Red Rider81;961936 wrote:This is one of the dumbest things i have read on here. We have done all this with very low numbers on the field....No more than 30-35 during my 4 years in High School. Other generations can talk about similar numbers. That aint a whole lotta kids out there working for those wins. I would guess there are many of the surrounding communities that have more kids out than Orrville most every year. It is hard to put a finger on the success over the years without saying it just like 81 did.
I think the 3 teams in the State of Ohio that have 600 wins plus 20+ playoff years are Stubenville, Ironton, St Iggies. RedRider1 can verify. Pretty respectable company. We are sitting at 596 and 22. All we care about right now is #597! We want it to be this year not next. -

footballnutI've seen some Norwayne games and have several Bobcat friends. This is a decent rundown from OQB but his facts are a little off. I wasn't even sure who Kaleb Harris was until I just spoke to one of my buddies at lunch. He says that Harris is not the fastest kid on the team and that all of the WR's are comparable in speed. He also told me that Harris has not caught many balls all year but had a nice game Saturday night. Norwayne has lost one of their starting WR's for the rest of the playoffs and Harris is filling in. Maibach and Berger are the two we have to stop. They both finished at the top of the league in catches and yardage. Having Harris in the line up does pose some interesting matchup issues for us. My buddy told me that Harris is around 6'3". I know Berger and Maibach are both 6'1 - 6'2" (in that range). That is a lot of height to matchup against. I dont see anyway we dont play Brenner full time at DB.
IMO if we stop the pass we will beat them easily. I dont see anyway they can run on us with a lot of success. Our lines are comparable. We must use our overall speed to keep them off balance. -

We have a saying hanging in our locker room and weight room....it says this
'PRESSURE IS A PRIVILEGE'
That's how we look at it over here. There is tremendous pressure here because there is tremendous tradition and expectations.....every year. That's OK. -

Maibach and Berger are good receivers....but as I said, they don't pose anything that we haven't already seen this year.....Kaleb is faster than those other 2 and I know that is fact. Kaleb is just young and raw, where the other two have experience. Good points though...footballnut;961998 wrote:I've seen some Norwayne games and have several Bobcat friends. Exactly! Wearing the Orrville uniform is a privilege...We have high expectations every year and the boys in the uniform work their butts off for this community and RTR.5knots;962000 wrote: We have a saying hanging in our locker room and weight room....it says this

Riderfan17Stop the pass we win

rrfanCouple of thoughts. First, Norwayne is going to see pressure from boys (men) that I don't believe they have seen before. We will see how the passing game looks with Monheim knocking QB's out. He will be hit and hit and hit again. Second, I want to see how Norwayne handles the big stage. They have not been here before and it is different. I can't wait to see this game! Go Riders!

Thanks for adding thoughtful and respectful comments. -
RedRider1Ask labrae's QB...he looked good early on but by the 3rd quarter he wanted no part of the Rider defense.
Wallace will be better, but he will have guys coming at him every play. Bank on that. -

I've had them all year I just sat and read instead of voicing my opinion. I love football and I love Orrville and I know a lot about them and teams we play for being my ageRedRider1;962039 wrote:Rf17 and rr81...you guys are all about quality posts.

footballnutI'm with 5k on this. I see this being a close game. I dont like the fact that many of the Rider faithful on here seem to think that Norwayne is just going to melt in this one. Norwayne played Ursuline last year. The only thing they did was go on and win their 3rd straight state championship. I dont think they are going to be overwhelmed like we are hoping they are. I hope our players dont come in with the same cockiness that some of the posters on here have.
Mason is a bull, no doubt but Wallace is no pushover. The kid is a horse also. We are going to have to hit him early and often. He does not shy away from contact. No doubt that he is the key. Knocking him around is imperative.
GO RIDERS!!
