This will be the 3rd straight year Orrville has played in a week 12 game and will be the 3rd time theyve played at Medina in the last 15 games.

Orrville knows the atmosphere, the venue and the magnitude of these games....and we know how to win them too (see 2009 vs. Genoa, 2010 vs. Elyria Cath....both week 12 games.)
I'm with RR1 on this one. Some of these Orrville kids have played some important roles on past years' teams. Plus, there's something special about getting to the state semifinals and coming back the next year REALLY wanting it. I remember my Junior year we lost in "just" week 12, and the hunger to do something the next year was immense (although we were really bad the next year, my bad!). I can only imagine the level of hunger in Orrville after state semifinal and regional final losses. Having gone to some big Orrville playoff games myself in the last few years, including seeing them beat Genoa in person, there is something special when Orrville takes the field in a BIG game. Everyone knows me and knows that I'm not the biggest fan of Orrville because they are our greatest rival, but I (and everyone) have to respect the way they go about their business and the way DaVault prepares them... and their "swag" (I can't believe I just said that) is real. Outside of one player who has a "bad" version of that swag and intentionally harmed and taunted our players in our last few games against them, I think the rest of Orrville's team takes on the big game the right way... it's a pleasure watching them in the biggest of atmospheres.

That being said, Norwayne has proven they are one heck of a team, and that is NOT to be discounted. As others have said, these two teams are very similar in a lot of ways, and it will come down to preparation this week in practice and then execution on Saturday night. Of course, Orrville has the edge in playoff experience and strength of schedule, but Norwayne has done mighty fine against those they have played. I'm excited for this game! I think both teams are "the real deal" and hope for a great game this weekend!

    On Orrville/Norwayne.....
I'd list Norwayne as a 14 point underdog. I just hope it's a good game.
    I'll take Norwayne +14 for a dime......

Toot your own horn Mr. 300, we all know how WH did.

Orrville will more than likely get the win...but I dont think its due to being more athletic....I think its COACHING. I have been in Orrville stands a few times....and I really do not like Norwayne...

Truth is...I dont care who wins....Orrville wins...we gotta listen to you fans run your mouth.... Norwayne wins and they are the best since sliced bread...as much as i dislike Norwayne....I think Orrville eating crow is more appealing to me. LOL
  • OQB
The team that shows up and executes will win the game. Both schools are here for a reason and they both have what it takes to win the game. Now it's on those young men to go out and execute.

The Bobcats are 10-1, they are by far the better team. Orrville is luckey to be 8:cry:-3 and they will need as much help and luck as possible to even be in the game after half time.

I dout Oville has seen the speed and Defense this year that they are going to see against the Cats. I like the Cats a lot in this game.

Yes we do....this is a no-win situation for us. Win big and we're picking on a county school. Win close and we're not that good. Lose and we never hear the end of it.

We've played against 2 county schools since 1963...an 8-6 loss to Northwestern in 1966, and 29-0 win over Norwayne in 1981. Two games in 55 years. Waynedale and Smithville have NEVER played us....so to the WCAL, we're the great white whale.

LOL man I wish it was Waynedale or Smithville playing...I would have an easier time cheering for the WCAL school....ughhhh

Where's Paul? Im sure he has some valuable insight!

I have to really consider what side to sit on.....

I mean Norwayne is slow, small unathletic...havent played anyone....Orrville may get a better game out of The Blind Sisters of The Poor Seminary School of Cultural Arts!!!!

I think Norwayne played their 7th and 8th graders in the 2nd half of the Waynedale game this year......thats just what I heard.....lol

Anyone has to be naive to think Orrville is just going to show up and curb stomp Norwayne....Both teams are here for a reason and the team that executes will win...simple as that.

All this bs and people trying to stir the pot/piss people off is getting old!

Why can't we just talk about the game instead of all the stuff surrounding the game?

Here are my comparisons and how I see them.

Coaching: Orrville BY FAR! Harbour and his entire staff is under 30 years old and do not make adjustments well....inexperience in these types of games I think will play a part in the outcome.

Defensively: Orrville, but if our offense plays like they have at times this year (penalties, turnovers, negative plays), Norwayne has the guys to shut us down, when we're down. Norwayne has shut out good and bad D IV/V/VI teams...We have shut down good and bad D. II and III teams...who have a few recruits making plays for them.

Offensively: I would say this is a tie. We have seen just how good our offense can be (Northwest, Triway, Lexington, Wooster, Labrae) and we have seen what happens when we don't show up (Copley, Senior, Ashland) Norwayne has put up numbers that are really eye popping, but they really got slowed down when they actually played playoff caliber teams in Hillsdale and Smithville....but they also put up 42 against Brookfield

    Key matchups this week:

Wallace is a very good athlete and has had an outstanding career for the Bobcats...we have seen better QB's though in the past 2 seasons.... he is not as good as Fuller, better runner than Carmichael, but not as good passer, Elyria QB was better passer, Northwest QB is better passer. The thing with Wallace is you have to get pressure and make him uncomfortable. Smithville and Hillsdale were able to get a lot of pressure on him and make him throw off balanced and sacked him quite a few times. That will be key....I could see White and Lemon having a a great game getting pressure....along with the other front 7. Where Wallace beats you is with his feet, again deceptively fast, but nothing that makes me worried....we just have to be able to tackle him and not let him have YAC....because he can break tackles. I see him more as a RB that can throw than a QB that can run. Has a good arm, but accuracy isn't great. I can't wait to see how he takes a hit from Mason haha!

Will the Zimmerly brothers be able to run on our defense? We have shut down every running game we have played this season, and I think it continues this week. Both boys are deceptively fast, but nothing we haven't seen before (maybe like WH rb's) they like to run over people, but have been able to get to the edge in the wcal. It will be important to get them down on first contact and not let them get YAC.

Offensive lines are very similar....in size and ability. Both lines have gone against big lines all year and have done a pretty good job with protection and blocking

WR's: Norwayne has 1 really fast athlete...Kaleb Harris who is only a sophomore. He is about 6'3" and probably is a 4.6 guy.. He is their return man, safety, and subs in at WR. Other than him I think the receivers are good, but nothing we haven't seen before.......Northwest, Copley, Ashland, and Lexington all have better athletes at WR imo.

Kicking game: Orrville by far.....this is their weakness and have struggled all year in the kicking game. Haven't really kicked deep in the games I've seen and like to onside, or pooch kick. Dylan and Drew could come up big for us this week. with field position. Turner obviously is the fastest guy on the field...he can make anything happen if he gets the ball.

Key for Orrville is to shut the run game down, if we do that imo....they will be in trouble.
