There is nothing wrong with being proud of our program. Orrville folks are some of the most hard working, down to earth, friendly people you could ever meet. We have a great community and great kids and we are damn proud of it. Coaches and players alike have worked there asses off to make our program what it is. The problem with you and the rest of wayne county is your thinking towards orrville. You are all jealous of the things orrville has accomplished. We were not just given the success we enjoy , we are blessed with kids, and coaches willing to work very hard for it. They have goals and they bust ass to acheve them. Try it sometime maybe your school can start building a tradition to be proud of !

We will see how the passing game looks with Monheim knocking QB's out. He will be hit and hit and hit again. Second, I want to see how Norwayne handles the big stage. They have not been here before and it is different. I can't wait to see this game! Go Riders!

Yesterday/this morning there was humbleness and respect......

As the day passes....am I still on the Norwayne/Orrville thread????? Its almost sounding like i stumbled on a Mooney or Ursiline thread.....

"Our Coaches are better, our kids work harder, you should try harder and you would be better...." Yada yada yada....

They played a week 12 game last year against Ursuline... so many of the Norwayne kids have seen a REAL team before. Orrville will not be the best team they've ever played against. (that's what many of these posts sound like) That being said, Orrville will be the best team Norwayne has played this year.

.. and we are on to page 6! (per my settings, at least, which are set at most posts per page possible)

thepit- I said "I want to see how they handle the big stage" I did not see them play last year so that is why "I want to see it". I am not sure how staying that we are/need to knock the qb around is us bing cocky. I am a Rider fan so if you want me to come on here and say we are in trouble and look out for norwayne go somewhere else.

Orrville will have to play good football to win. I think we will do that.
  • Full Throttle
Well said Red Rider 81.Have seen both teams play.Orrville has not played well in some and have played good in others.Still havent put 4 qrts. together imo.If we play like we have lately, Orrville wins.I just cant get over what Smithvilles defense did to Norwayne. No disrespect, but Orrvilles defense is the best around. As we all know the key is Wallace.

No need to get so defensive. I was just referring to your "They have not been here before and it is different" comment. I guess I didn't understand it, if it was referring to week 12 (which they have been there just last year and played an awesome Ursuline team) or if you literally meant "here" as in Medina HS. And I have no problem with you saying "we need to knock the QB around a bit"... not cocky at all. I think that's a legitimate goal in your defensive scheme that helps set the tone, and something the Riders do very well. No problem with that whatsoever.

Smithville had the ideal stage set to defeat the Cats. Sloppy field. Played right into their hands. Took away all Norwayne's speed and took advantage of the size up front. Orrville pretty much had the same scenario weeks vs West Holmes, Madison, Clear Fork and we were fortunate to find a way to pull those games out. Norwayne just came up a bit short vs the Smithies. It's not rocket science. Taking nothing away from Smithville...they earned it. Any of you WCAL guys out there think it would have been different on a dry field? I did not see the game so I'm just speculating. What do you all think?
  • rrfan
I think the conditions will be great Saturday and the field will be perfect. Speed vs. Speed lets see who is faster.
  • Riderfan17
I believe the game will be close a touchdown game maybe less. Dylan tanner might be needed to decide the game. I've seen Norwayne once this year and Orrville 10 times but when I did see Norwayne they were clicking they aren't gonna roll over and die and why should they. These kids are like us. They don't have the tradition built into them but they work just as hard to start the tradition over there. These teams are pretty close in just about every category. Yes Orrville has a tougher schedule and has played in these big games but if you think about it before their first big game they never did its all about how you prepare and execute. As

Where's all the Norwayne folks that were on the WCAL thread all year?
  • oldsmithie
My guess is that Norwayne posters will not be coming anywhere near this topic! We all saw what happened in week 8 of this season, Smithville upset Bobcats. The Norwayne faithful had to eat alot of crow. For some reason there is alot of bad blood between Norwayne and the other WCAL schools, I would not expect most WCAL fans to get behind the Bobcats in this one. One thing for sure, Norwayne is a very dangerous team offensively and the Wallace kid is a load to bring down, he reminds me of some of the famous Rider QB's over the years. I have been around football for many years and not many things suprise me, I would not be surprised if this was a close win by either team!!

In the Norwayne- Smithville game Norwayne shot themselves in the foot a lot with penalties that took away momentum. It was also a tough week for them unity wise with the video. They'll be ready this week.

On a dry fast track, Norwayne would have done the same thing to Smithville that Wynford did. Take nothing away from Smithville, In 5 inches of mud, they would have gave Orrville fits also.

Iced earth: You are exactly right! The stars were all in alignment that night! The weather conditions played beautifully into Smithvilles' game plan. A dry fast field would have been a different story.

Preseason and for the first few games the Norwayne folks said nothing, but it was obvious they were lurking, because of some stuff that went down. We rather jokingly thought there might have been a coach issued gag order on message boards. As they started winning more and more of them came out and started talking. The Week 8 debacle might have spawned a new internet usage limitation for the fans and the team.

    Only a guess.

    Week 9

I agree with the above comments that that week was a perfect storm for Smithville and against Norwayne. The Bobcats didn't help themselves with that video, which added extra motivation. I have yet to see Norwayne in person, so I can't say "If they were to play 10 times, xxx would win xxx number of times" but I'm guessing it would vastly depend on field and weather conditions. Speaking of, hopefuly this Saturday is another beautiful night for football! We were definitely blessed in week 11.

I'll be tailgating and grilling burgers and bratwursts before the game, so I should be there early, too. I've always seen your RV but never had time to stop by. I will probably take you up on that, this time. I can't wait for Saturday! Well, I can't wait for Friday - Mooney vs Steubenville @ Fawcett!

Watched the Norwayne/Hillsdale game during Wooster week. Norwayne is a fun team to watch and I wish we had Wallace on our team. They ran him up the middle a lot in that game, which ain't happenin' with Orrville. He has that long galloping stride like Brenner and can pick his way through. The thing that struck me was that they let Hillsdale hang around the whole game. Hillsdale scored on their first drive and their offense didn't show up again until the 4th quarter and they were still in it. Norwayne didn't look like they knew how to handle a team that hung with them.

you dont want them on this thread, once one norwayne fan comes they all start coming and popping up outa no where. If people think orrville fans are cocky norwayne fans are twice as bad. Im going with orrville on this one even though im a WCAL guy i cant bring myself to root for norwayne. Go Riders!

Just for kicks and giggles: Fantastic50.net says Norwayne is a 1pt predicted favorite over Orrville with a 51% chance to win. Talk about as close as you can get! Hopefully the game ends up being as close as the prediction. I want nothing more than a barn-burner this Saturday with a packed house going crazy all game long!

    Norwayne (Creston) (10-1) by 1 (51%) vs Orrville (8-3)

We are jealous, you gotta be kinding me. You obviously have tunnel vision. Do you or have you read posts on here and JJ(sorry, just for reference) in the past? Many appear to cocky and over zealous, it gets old when reading some of the crap. I do enjoy a few Rider memebers on here. You have success due to numbers 81, don't kid yourself. The more players that go out the better, it's just the way it works everywhere. You're talking like nobody else works hard and plays hard blah blah blah. Every HS player has goals and bust butt.

Norwayne steps it up this week I hope, they have nothing to lose and everything to gain in this match up. They will exploit your pass coverage if you make them......please make them pass the ball. I see Norwayne by 10.

    GO CATS!!

our numbers weren't as big this year for the number of kids going out.. And Norwayne by ten? No if they win it'll be by a touchdown or less

I'll be the first to say it...Orrville by at least two scores.
