Week 12...Norwayne Bobcats vs. Orrville Red Riders
-
OQB
For the most part you block it out, but on those big 3rd down plays and very critical times in the game you can really hear the crowd. My worst memory of a crowd was playing at Ashland back in 06 and that stupid Indian fight war song that they played nonstop and the entire crowd would sing along. Very annoying and loud! As for a redneck fan voicing his opinion....no you never hear that.riders1;959832 wrote:I am thinking that players in the game hear very little of the crowd noise and are not affected by most of it , unless some idiot brings in a huge bell -

Orrville Seniors will be in their 9th playoff game this next gameBRF;959822 wrote:Break it down to the teams that will be playing right now. How many play-off games have our kids been in? Also..........just sayin'. -
THE4RINGZRedRider1;959833 wrote:Drew Brenner and Mason Monheim played in the 09 playoffs..so for those two..this will be their 9th playoff game.
Kids like Zook, Summers, Turner were big parts of last year's run and this will be their 6th playoff game.
More than just a game or two...
Spin it anyway you want to, but for the players taking the field next week, there isn't that great of a difference. Coaching staffs and the preparation for week 12 that is definitely an advantage for Orrville. -
OQB
So the Orrville senior class alone has played more playoff games than the entire history of Norwayne football! Wow! :huh:riders1;959845 wrote:Orrville Seniors will be playing in their 9th playoff game this next game -
thePITmanI cannot wait for this game! It's going to be an awesome atmosphere and a packed house.
About the game... Both teams have offenses that can be very explosive and two-dimensional, so I think that might be kind of a wash in terms of either team having an advantage. But Orrville's defense is better, IMO, and that might be the difference. Who can create a big turnover and turn it into points? Which team has the better X factor - Norwayne has Wallace, but Orrville has big play-maker Stewart Turner on offense/special teams (and Monheim on defense). Who can hit the home run? I think Orrville has the better chance of doing that, but like I said earlier, both teams are explosive.
I don't really care who wins. I'll be there and don't even know which side I'm going to sit on. I'm rooting for both teams to lay it all on the line, play a clean, hard-fought game, and the winner representing our area well in the regional final and hopefully beyond. I just can't wait for this atmosphere! There should definitely be tailgating! I will refill my empty propane tank this week.
Good luck to both teams! Remember, these are kids playing the game. -
OQBIs CrestVirginia alive tonight? Where are all the Bobcat fans?

Not every senior...just Drew and Mason played as sophomores. Maybe a few others dressed but I don't think any other than those 2 played. -

No way you sit on the Orrville side. -

Why not? I know MANY more Orrville fans than Norwayne fans.RedRider1;959867 wrote:No way you sit on the Orrville side.
Does anyone think CPI will be at this game? Maybe I'll get asked to keep stats and get in the press box and not have to worry about which side on which to sit! Haha. -
browBrenner is the QB. Kyle is a great backup for this tournament run. If Brenner can keep his cool and not let his emotion get the best of him he brings a dimension that the Riders are otherwise without. You must defend him as a legit running option in the backfield, changes the entire scope of what you do defensively IMO. Doesn't hurt that he looked like a seasoned veteran throwing out of the pocket tonight as well.

OQBGotta support the little guy...

RedRider1You sat on Genoa's side two years ago.
Deep down...you don't like Orrville fans and won't be able to stomach sitting around so many. -

OQBI think the internet is down in CrestVirginia....this is odd.

I sat on the home side because that's where a few of my friends from Smithville were, so I sat with them during the game. Hey, didn't I go meet you during halftime to chat about the game? I'm a good guy. I promise! No matter what, I should go decked out in purple!RedRider1;959887 wrote:You sat on Genoa's side two years ago.

I'm waiting for this chant by the Red Rider students:
Orr-WHAT? Orrville!
I would die laughing! -
RedRider1Drew is still a tall, athletic weapon at WR...so it's a matter of where he's most effective. Norwayne will need to prepare for both.
Our offense is peaking and our defense is playing lights out. -

Exactly, and we will get the answer next Saturday at 7....no way anybody leaks who is going to start before the game starts. It's just nice to have options.RedRider1;959896 wrote:Drew is still a tall, athletic weapon at WR...so it's a matter of where he's most effective. Norwayne will need to prepare for both.

THE4RINGZI will sit on the Orrville side (next to BRF) bobcatmom might bring her master's degree and hit me with it.
I can't be that close to a post secondary degree. -
BRF
That will not happen.THE4RINGZ;959902 wrote:I will sit on the Orrville side (next to BRF) -
OQBI know where BRF will be sitting.

browAnd the offense has been peaking with Brenner at QB. Think about 3rd and 5 or more. You have to have a guy who can do something with his legs when everything else breaks down. Get him rolling out in that qauds set and its pick your poison so to speak for the defense. Plus the counter action with Mason is so much more effective when LB's really have to key on the QB as well. Like I said, I just feel Orrville adds another dimension with #11 under center. I was actually very surprised to see him throw so well out of the pocket and to me, that settles the issue hands down. We have weapons at WR, you need a guy who can get it there on a consistent basis and force the defense to play him as a running option as well.

Lockup ScreenNorwayne has a very nice team saw them play tonight. I think this will be a close game, but Orrville has superior players..
Orrville 28
Norwayne 21 -
OQBI think the X-factor in this game is going to be special teams.....Orrville definately has the better kicking game, and that has been one of Norwayne's weaknesses all year long. A missed extra point could be huge!
I have seen the bobcats special teams and they don't really like to kickoff deep, they pooch kick or try the onside a lot. -
browNorwayne is athletic. They have had quite a bit of success it sounds like from their youth programs, all the way up through the ranks the last few years. They have good Wayne County speed. Let's be honest though, they haven't seen Stewart Turner speed too much this season. They will have to adjust early on to that type of speed in order to be successful. Not saying it can't be done, but you know what they say about speed...

you think you knowIt was great to watch Orrville play with a short field the whole second half, defense finally found a way to get pressure on the QB,
I think this will be key against the Bobcats because I don't think the riders secondary can cover their receivers if Wallace has time to throw.
