I don't speak "Campbell"

Just go ahead and ignore the facts
Everyone knows that you're a whiner anyway
You love calling people that don't agree with you names, you whine and cry more than anybody here, you can quit worrying, the proposal was voted down, the OHSAA is not going to take away the stacked deck you fellas are playing with. -

You don't speak English very well either, oh wait, weren't you a English Major? -
omemorialhighrocket08 lets meet up at patsys and you could talk all your trash bout campbell...lets see how tough you are without your computer screen to hide behind.

rmolin73Seriously dude? Stop calling people out be the bigger man. The bottom line is this there are small school programs that compete with private schools and beat them. The team you are calling a juggernaut has lost to Coldwater twice. Ursuline got out muscled by Maria Stein when they beat Ursuline in 2007. Hardin Northern won the 2004 D6 State Title game beating two catholic schools in the process with 26 boys, 26 boys outscored their opponents 31.2 to 5.6 points in the playoffs thats it 26 boys! There are teams that can get it done and beat privates and there are also supporters of teams that whine and cry and ask for an easy road to a state title.

If exceptions proved the rule -- the OHSAA wouldn't be looking at making changes now, would they? -

Let's call a spade a spade...the OHSAA is looking to make changes because of about 7 or 8 schools. They are upset that Delphos St. John, Ursuline, Mooney, Alter, and a few D1 schools consistently do well. To hide behind this "all parochial schools have an advantage" guise is just dumb in my opinion. The whole proposal was meant to move the tough parochial schools out of the lower divisions and into the higher divisions to open it up for a lesser team to have a better shot at a state championship. Enough people complained about it that the OHSAA finally had to step in and propose something.
But the people that tell me that all parochial schools have this great advantage loses all credibility in my book. Nobody is afraid of St. Thomas Aquinas, or Youngstown Christian. They are afraid of Mooney and Ursuline. I would have more respect if people at least said what they were really thinking: "I don't want to have to play Mooney or Ursuline, so I'd like to see them moved out of my division." But instead, people continue to play this pity card, and it's just ridiculous. -

Red= You and the boys do the same thing when you name the same public schools that do well in the lower divisions....Coldwater, MSML, etc.
Green=maybe they would be more equal, (instead of "lesser"), if the parochs didn't have tri state all star teams, and they wouldn't need help to have a, "better shot at a state championship."
Blue= Pity card? You have got to be kidding me. You parochial boys are the ones who are acting like you want pity. -

Just one FREAKING time I would like you to tell me what KIDS played at Mooney from the tri state area. You say it over and over. I would bet my house agianst your trailer that you can't name me one. -

But the public schools in those upper divisions realized they didn't want to play Mooney, Ursuline, Coldwater, Maria Stein, etc. (you know the teams that actually win titles). So they stuck it to the schools like Campbell and Massillon and voted the proposal down. Damn public schools.sherm03;774232 wrote:Let's call a spade a spade. 1. There's where you're mistaken. I have no problems with Coldwater, MSML, Steubenville, etc. doing well. As a matter of fact, I respect those programs for being strong programs that constantly do well. I have never once said that those schools should be moved up so that Mooney would have a better shot at winning a title. So don't say that I do the same thing...because I clearly do not.
2. Enlighten me as to which kid on Mooney's team came from outside Ohio. Go ahead...I'll wait. I will be waiting for a long time because you use such ridiculous hyperbole in your argument that you actually start to believe this crap.
3. Never said I wanted pity. Just want people to stop complaining over high school athletics and let the kids just strap up and play. -

I see what you did there with the trailer remark, you are so cool. Those Alter boy days have really made you bitter haven't they? -

No never was an alter boy. Why would that make me bitter? I'm glad you saw what I did there. It wasn't really that hard to figure out. I said you lived in a trailer. -

Of course, if your school has anything at all to offer, you'll have no interest. -

What is fair about assigning divisions based on student populations? College divisions have nothing to do with number of students. It's about level of commitment and financial resources. The current system make no sense, and doesn't reflect the mission of the OHSAA. The number of students walking the halls should only be one factor. It seems funny to me the people who think the system is currently fair are the people that are reaping the rewards. -

It also includes those of us on the public schools "side" that simply don't allow real or perceived unfairness (there's some of both) to be an excuse for anything less than excellence. -

We are talking about high school sports here. Some schools both public and private think that dumping valuable resources into their extracurricular activities is not only wrong but unwise. Their number one priority is academic, not hiring some hotshot coach that teaches PE. Hey with an unlimited budget any school could create a sporting juggernaut if that's what they wanted to be known for. I am no marking expert but it seems to me that private schools have a huge incentive to excel in either academic or sports or both. This is what attracts parents to send their kids there. It really depends on where your priorities are at.
The Mission of the OHSAA is to create a fair playing field. -

You know what I'm talking about, it's ok if you don't want to talk about it.
Yeah, you said I live in a trailer, but you also said that parochial schools don't recruit....So that means I must live in a mansion. -

It isn't only private schools that excel that parents look to send their kids too. Parents also look for public schools which excel. What is wrong with schools that excel?Bigdogg;774916 wrote:it seems to me that private schools have a huge incentive to excel in either academic or sports or both. This is why its impossible to argue with parochial school opponents. I thought parochial schools recruited their athletes and lured them away from public schools with free tuition and waived fees. With all those athletes getting a free ride, how do the parochial have these limitless resources to hire the hot shot coach? I would say that public schools have more resources since they get revenue from EVERYONE and not just the families that attend their school. I don't have kids...but I own a house. So local schools get those resources. But every parochial school only sees that money if I have a student in that school. So who really has the better set up here?
And the people who think the current system are fair think that because its the fairest option for everyone. Why should an open enrollment school be treated differently than a parochial school? Mooney won a title in 87...and then nothing until 04. Did you ever hear a Mooney fan talk about how unfair the system was? No. Ursuline didnt win one til 2000. I never heard an Ursuline fan complain about the system. Mooney won 10 games during my Sophomore, Junior, and Senior years combined. Nobody was yelling during that time that other schools needed moved out of our division.
Good try though...really it was.
