2011 Wayne County Athletic League Football

Bloody ToothbrushI agree with Ringz.....and then some.
Paul is more than just a poster. He is a prophet, a visionary........Paul is wisdom incarnate.
The fact he foolishly attacks Orrville & Beast just make him all the funnier.
On to Football......
Not many surprises last week in the WCAL. The Dalton score surprised me most. I can't remember the Dawgs ever being on the wrong end of that kind of score. I guess it can be chalked up to growing pains and a dream Garaway team. Next week vs Tuslaw will be telling.
Backyard rivalry or not......the Falcons need to get rid of Mapleton on their schedule. This game is not going to get closer in the next few years. A regular season Hillsdale/Crestview game would be a nice replacement.
Where the H*ll is West Lafayette?......Beast?
Northwesterns 5 year winning streak against Black River could be in serious jeopardy this Friday......I'm guessing it's over.
Going a little off WCAL topic.....
Wooster vs Wadsworth should be exciting. Didn't forsee Ashland getting destroyed by the Grizzlies.
Being a Strongsville native....I gotta laugh about the St.Iggys 1950's weeny puffing scandal. I can already hear the banter between opponents and Iggy fans. The jokes will be worth the price of admission when the Wildcats are on the road. -
oldsmithiePaul should be careful, not to poke at Beast! Question, does a bobcat crap in the woods?, I know a Bear does! Hear Kitty Kitty.
-
oldsmithieThe road does not get any easier this week for the Smithies. Smithville is 0-4 against Mogadore. We will see what Smithville is made of this week, I dont expect a win but, I think this game will be a close one.

SilverHammerThe 4ringz- who were those people from Lafayette you were talking to. You can be sure that the Ridgewood staff knows what they signed up for. It will be a slobberknocker.
Bloody Toothbrush- West Lafayette is located in Coshocton County. From Apple Creek and hour drive straight south on Ohio 93. or n40 16.523 W81 45.194 by you GPS.
1_Beast- Ridgewood spent a couple years in 5-17. lost to Warren JFK in 2005 in the first round and South range in 2006. in 2009 they lost to Ursuline in the state Semifinals. If you think the move to 5-19 will be easier, consider this. Talent wise not as good but to MAKE the playoffs via the harbin system it as been a bitch. Last year, the 4 thru 8 teams in 5-17 would not have qualified for the playoffs in 5-19. it has been that way for the last couple years. -

BobcatWeek 1 is in the books. I thought I'd come on and give an update of the Norwayne game before Paul comes on and makes a fool of himself again. Norwayne obviously had little trouble outmaning Wellington. My understanding is that Wellington only had 9 returning lettermen. I think The Cats returned 22. Norwaynes depth, speed and athleticism was just way too much for the Dukes and the game was over by half....28 - 0. Wellington had 3 first downs in the first half and 2 of those were on Norwayne penalties. I did not think Norwayne looked sharp. Wellington lined up with 3 defensive linemen obviously thinking Norwayne was going to throw alot. That is the perception you get when a team lines up 4 widereceivers. They seemed to use 5 DB's and 3 linebackers most of the time and the backers were lined up deep. That being said Norwayne just ran the ball....often. Wellington never adjusted. I think Wallace only threw 10 passes completing only 5.....2 of those were behind the line of scrimmage. He looked very uncertain most of the time and I'm sure he ran the ball instead of throwing at least 6 or 8 times on called passing plays. Norwaynes wideouts were behind coverage several times and he wouldn't throw. The Zimmerly boys ran the ball very well and the line looked surprisingly better then advertised. The defense looked solid although Wellington can not throw and didnt very much. Norwaynes DB's are untested for the most part for the year. It was a decent first showing but they definitely need to clean it up a bit. Wallace needs to use his resources instead of running all of the time. If he can learn to do that and the lines continue to improve the Cats should do well this season.

Havin FunThe only change I have after week 1 is I think Chippewa will beat Rittman in thier big clash for last place this year. Not so much progress on Chippewa part but Rittman is going backwards fast. A new coach playing his son off the bat and redesigning the entire offense is bad news. You cannot win in the WCAL if you can't run the football and Rittman can't run the football. Sorry.

1_beastBobcat, Nice recap! Good Luck to your Cats this week!
Bears travel to West Lafayette to take on Ridgewood. They are coming off a 10-0 reg season and 8th consec trip to the playoffs. The Wood, return quite a bit including Michigan State commit Evan Jones, a 6-foot-6, 244-pound tight end/defensive end....whoa!!!! -

1_beastThanks Rider...thats where I got the info on Jones! Great site!

footballnutThanks for the update Bobcat. That sounds much like my Norwayne brethren explained it to me. They were very pleased with the Norwayne line considering the youth and the way they had looked in the scrimmages. They have the same take on the QB. He's a big tough talented kid but does not see the field well. His talent is much better utilized on the defensive side of the ball. Plenty of talent at wideout but he can't get them the ball. CVCA should be a better test for the Cats even though they are not projected to be great this year. You dont just go out and replace an Utley.
Beast, The Bears are in for a challenge this week. I wish them all the best. Go get it done!
I also agree with Havin Fun. I think Rittman will be in the basement of the WCAL this year. I heard they are awful. I also had a friend from Dalton tell me this may be the worst team he's ever seen at Dalton. He may have just been frustrated but that's what he said -
Paul
Geez why don't you just say the Bobcats cow butted the big boys from Wellington all over the field and won big time. The Bobcats say cow butting is almost as fun as cow tipping at night with a girl.Bobcat;876425 wrote:Week 1 is in the books. Go FalconsMapleton stopped Hillsdale on the first series at the ten. After that the Falcons ran over, around and through the Mounties. Five runners scored and we had 307 yards on the ground before the half.
Bloody: I have too agree with you, Mapleton needs to go. However I am not going to argue to much with the first coach to have back to back winning seasons (let alone 4 and a WCAL) in school history.
From the sound of it Rittman may have trouble with the Mounties.
Paul: I can see you Creston boys really know how to show a girl a good time.
