Red RumNice Otrap post Dr. Know-
I pretty much agree, except for the Orrville scheduling part. I just don't see it happening, there's more risk than reward in playing the county schools. That could change in the future though, Norwayne took the 1st step by ousting the Riders from the playoffs. If that accomplishment can be repeated in the future a few more times......who knows, maybe it's a possibility in 5 or 6 years.
OrrQB-
I'm not sure but I think Mt 1514 is a Dalton or Smithville guy. I am sure he's not a Norwayne guy.
regarding Smithville/Norwayne-
Like any game, the better team on that night, won. Throw all the would haves and should haves out the window. Smithville won. -

no fluke! being a great team means you can play in any conditions. Smithville dominated in all phases, i Still think smithville might be the best team in the countyfootballnut;972499 wrote:I was at the game and as I said...FLUKE. That 15 yard wide swath of mud down the middle of the field had a lot to do with it. That's my opinion. It has nothing to do with Norwaynes win over Orrville. Norwayne is better than Orrville. That's obvious now that they've played. I am not one of those "the OCC is way tougher than the WCAL" guys. IMO Smithville's win over Norwayne was a fluke. -

I'd probably go with Hillsdale, but those three co-champs really are VERY even. -

LOL when talkting to Go Falcons and his side kick at halftime of the Bears Game....I told them I personally thought Norwayne was "THAT GOOD"....I didn't think Smithville or Hillsdale would beat them. Turned out as I was wrong....and Smithville did win.....Hillsdale had them on the ropes!!!O-Trap;972842 wrote:I'd probably go with Hillsdale, but those three co-champs really are VERY even.
Now Norwayne is Tri- Champs of the WCAL and playing in the Regional Finals after a convincing win over Orrville. I was right about how good the Cats are...I was wrong about how close in talent level Hillsdale and Smithville were.
On a side note...as tough as it was to get out of R19...who knows what Hillsdale would of done...they very well could still be going!!! -
O-TrapYeah, Hillsdale's ability to pass would have helped them in Round 1, but I honestly think they'd be gone as well unless they would have finished higher than 8th. That Wynford team was every bit as good as any team Smithville saw this year ... at least that night they were.
-
1_beastSmithville and Hillsdale would have been the 5 and 7 seeds if we had stayed in R17....
Orrville would of Hosted Genoa is a 1st round game...and Norwayne would have traveled to Hartley had they stayed in R14, like the last 2 years. -
was_that_itHaven't posted in awhile. Congrats Norwayne!! Bobcats Stalk!!! Keep Cow-Butting....still don't know what that means???? Best of luck the rest of the way. Girard..sp? is a very good team. But so is Norwayne. Hillsdale would have done fine if they would have been in, even at the 8 spot. I saw the Smithville/Wynford game on replay and if Smithville could have finished drives.... oh well Wynford was for real. Wish Hillsdale would have gotten a few more first downs to kill the clock against Norwayne, but give credit where it's due, Norwayne is legit. Have enjoyed reading the posts above on the last few pages. O-trap well said about the WCAL a page or so back. Bobcats Stalk!!!!

Those were all the regulars I recall when the bet was placed. If you are planning on attending the game, and want a ticket I will get tickets this week and we can work out the logistics of delievering them to you. If you aren't going to make it to this game, shoot me a PM and I will put it on my calendar to buy you a ticket to a game next season.
Thanks Ringz, I appreciate the gesture.
Don't bother with a ticket for me as I am rolling over to Mansfield for the R14 championship.
As far as next year, clean slate....you owe nothing to me. -
OQBRed Rum, I'll be making the trip our to Arlin Field as well....should be a great game, can't wait to see the younger Mauk play. I've seen his older brother 3 times, but everyone says this kid is much better than him.

heathwoodTrying to get a Scouting Report on the Hillsdale Falcons 2012 edition:
Are the following players Seniors this year or will they be back on next years team?
QB Cline
RB Young
RB Bardetscher
WR Licata
Josh Barr
Spencer Hamilton
Jordan Haas
Jake Finley
Sam Foore
How does their offensive line look for next year?
I know this is kind of an over the top post but I hear my team is currently in talks to potentially sign at least a home and home with them and I was wondering if this was a good play for us or not. Will they be Sr heavy next year or are they rebuilding? What kind of offense do they run? Defense? I hear they are very physical and big up front. Any help would be appreciated thanks guys. -

I cant tell you much...but I will say the current Coach has this team in "RELOAD" instaed of "REBUILD" mode!!! Hillsdale should be solid next year. Someone from Hillsdale can chime in on your questions...I can only answer about half of them.heathwood;973247 wrote:Trying to get a Scouting Report on the Hillsdale Falcons 2012 edition:

Whats the school you represent? -
Mr. RussellI think Young, Cline, Licata, Bardetscher, Hamilton are all gone for sure but I could be wrong.
-
oldsmithieHillsdale loses; 9 players on offense and 8 on defense.
Offense; Cline, Young, Haas, Badertscher, Licata, Dever, Stoner, Foore, Rogers. and kicker Millott.
Defense: Young, Hamilton, Rogres, Badertscher, Barr, Kingan, Licata, and Young. -
Go FalconsWell now that the Bomb Squad has cleared the mysterious package in my mail box and the Humane Society is convinced there is nothing to "chicken jerky". Thanks Myagi! Love the sentiment behind it. Although, I am concerned that the Brothers in Arms part with the emblem makes me a V.C. I hope the fabric does not shrink, the water cannon got it a little wet.

thedemoralizer7The reason norwayne has had so much recent success is because their school district pretty much goes from one side of the county to the other. They have so much land in the norwayne school district to expand and grow and they are growing rapidly. Now i want to know how this is fair to other neighboring schools like rittman where they dont have any land to expand their district. I know people who have a rittman address but are in the norwayne school district. Rittman is the 2nd smallest school in the WCAL and wont be getting any bigger while norwayne is growing rapidly. Could someone tell me how this is fair? Rittman's district needs to expand or they will soon not be able to compete with the larger schools like norwyne! something needs to be done..
-
Mr Miyagi
you are right...it is not fair...maybe Rittman should leave the conference and we will let another Ashland County team move in.......thedemoralizer7;976722 wrote:The reason norwayne has had so much recent success is because their school district pretty much goes from one side of the county to the other. thats not what i was trying to say..rittman has a rich history in the league, its just not fair that other schools can expand but rittman cantMr Miyagi;976772 wrote:you are right...it is not fair...maybe Rittman should leave the conference and we will let another Ashland County team move in....... -

dontcareI can't believe how much Norwayne is growing, my class back in the mid-80's had 106 kids in it. My son class will graduate 111 in 2 years. At this rate, we will need another new school.
-
thedemoralizer7
or the logical thing to do since norwayne is getting so big is to reduce the size of the school district andd expand rittmans to make it more even. Rittmans classes have declined the past 10 years. the 2011 class had about 75-80 kids while norwayne was about 120dontcare;976791 wrote:I can't believe how much Norwayne is growing, my class back in the mid-80's had 106 kids in it. dontcareNorwayne has 448 kids. Not many more now then there was when I graduated 26 years ago.
