Waynedale has plenty of room to expand! Maybe you would propose that we rezone and share some of our land with Dalton next???thedemoralizer7;976808 wrote:looks like downtown applecreek
See ya in wrestling!!!
(DOH...I forgot, you dont have a wrestling team)..... -
Whispering eyeI know of about 10 students probably a couple less who live inside of Rittman but attend Norwayne. They probably all have their own reasons but Norwayne's school district has been rated excellent in academics for about as long as I can remember and the athletics overall are better. That is probably why Norwayne has been growing. Where rittman schools academics in years past havent been that great. Not saying they are not good because i know they have been rated excellent for a couple years now, and also not too long ago Rittman had pay to play which takes a lot of people out of school districts wherever it happens. I am not saying that Rittman is a terrible place to live and attend school because i have family and know tons of very good people who live in Rittman. These are just my opinions on why Rittman hasnt been growing.

actually rittman has started a youth wrestling program and have a middle school wrestling team with a good amount kids on it. you look real mature bashing rittman when it is clear problem!1_beast;976809 wrote:Waynedale has plenty of room to expand! You're right, that was unacceptable. I apologize. I know Rittman is fielding a middle school program and Im very happy about that! The youth numbers are excellant and the parental support is great too! Soon enough the Indians will be back on the mats and competitive with starting at the youth level....they are doing things right!!!thedemoralizer7;976812 wrote:actually rittman has started a youth wrestling program and have a middle school wrestling team with a good amount kids on it. you look real mature bashing rittman when it is clear problem! -

didnt mean to snap at you, but living in rittman my whole life i get frusterated when outsiders bash on us. Yes we have had our down years as a town as most towns do but we are trying to get everything back on the right track and dissing rittman wont accomplish anything besides a few chuckles. Our athletic programs have improved over the past decade and we have just built a brand new school and have some good talent coming up. Now we just need coaches to stay and start programs which has been pretty hard in recent years at rittman.1_beast;976822 wrote:You're right, that was unacceptable. I apologize. 1486wdrittman is the only school that doesn't really have a rural land base in the wcl, so it probably is what it is. Dalton and smithville are not huge, but covera lot more territory than rittman.

Mr. RussellI wanna give a huge congratulations to the following WCAL players who made first team all-district. If I miss somebody, I apologize and will correct it if somebody points it out. Big honor boys.

1_beastCongrats to these young men.
I will go on record as saying though....Im a little disappointed that a 4-6 Ursaline team put the amount of kids on that list they did. I dont care about SOS...it dont do you a bit of good if you dont win!!! -
OQBCongrats to all the county boys who have been recognized.....well deserved!
I agree with you beast about Ursuline....but the same with the AP polls and all- Ohio, it's all politics. -

Never seems to hinder the Bulldogs, the smallest school in the leaguethedemoralizer7;976722 wrote:The reason norwayne has had so much recent success is because their school district pretty much goes from one side of the county to the other. They have so much land in the norwayne school district to expand and grow and they are growing rapidly. Now i want to know how this is fair to other neighboring schools like rittman where they dont have any land to expand their district. I know people who have a rittman address but are in the norwayne school district. Rittman is the 2nd smallest school in the WCAL and wont be getting any bigger while norwayne is growing rapidly. Could someone tell me how this is fair? Rittman's district needs to expand or they will soon not be able to compete with the larger schools like norwyne! something needs to be done.. -
oldsmithieI am not buying into this argument. If you are basing this all on population, then Chippewa High School should be winning everything!!! Chippewa has been the largest school in the WCAL for many years!! It is not the number of kids in the school district it is the quality of kids and coaches that make the difference!

Exactly, that's why teams like Clear Fork and Orrville are competing year after year in the OCC, even though they are the smallest 2 schools in the league. Until schools like Chippewa and Rittman settle their coaching situations and have some stability in the programs they will suffer.oldsmithie;977645 wrote:I am not buying into this argument. Havin FunNorwayne is just in a great streak right now that happens when you have some back to back years of storng, athletic classes. I remember when Waynedale won the all-sports award like 3 or 4 years in a row surrouding that 2003 class. Then, there were a few years of open competition and now it looks like Hillsdale and Norwayne are at the top of the heap for a few years. Who knows who will be next but class size proably won't have anything to do with it. Just enjoy the ride when you are on top and be classy and give others their due when they are winning.
-
THE4RINGZI agree. At schools the size of the WCAL schools, talent comes in waves. Every school has a wave of a couple of classes in a row with some super talented kids, the school gets hot for awhile then fades away while another school steps up. These schools are large enough consistently to have consistent success.

I think this is a valid point. Check out this map of Wayne County's school districts.thedemoralizer7;976722 wrote:The reason norwayne has had so much recent success is because their school district pretty much goes from one side of the county to the other. Nice post BRF!!! That is interesting! -
OQBReps to you BRF for that wonderful map! Up until my freshman year I used to live at the very north end of the Orrville school district...across the street was Smithville schools.

OK, I think I know where the LOL is coming from.1_beast;978205 wrote:LOL
I was just saying that he has a good point about Rittman and how they are squeezed.
Looking at the map, I think that the most ridiculous school district is Green. Talk about gerrymandering. What I did not realize how far to the north and east of Orrville past Marshallville that they went.
Rittman was always called an "exempted school district". Apparently that meant that they would just stick to their city limits. Bad choice, imo.
Waynedale has a pretty nice draw, too. -
1_beastThe LOL actually was because I didnt realize how small an area Rittman actually draws from!
Who the heck made Orrvilles boundaries? LOL Was that creative aligment to sccompany big football players? Thats a "crooked" border! (Pun intended) -
O-TrapI think Greene Local got Marshallville because nobody else wanted it.
-
OQBI heard recently that Dalton might pick up Marshallville (like they did way back in the day)now that the Marshallville elementary school will be closing.....anyone else hear this?
