They left the varsity in until 4th quarter, I heard anyway, guess they do have a bone to pick with us over the last few years....
Final 69-15
Same thing that happen to Genoa...will happen to Norwayne,,,unfortunately. On a "NORMAL" year they would be tested.....i guess 2 tough games to finish the season...we'll see.RedRider1;933832 wrote:Norwayne is starting to look like Genoa. I'd worry as a coach that my starters never see the 4th quarter. I'd want to see how my kids respond. Hopefully these last two games can bring that out.
Crown them STATE CHAMPS!Dr. KnOiTaLL;933841 wrote:I'm sure Norwayne is more than prepared for the next two weeks. Keep in mind that many of the kids are returning from a very successful team last year. They have shown they can play and will be ready every Friday. The question is, can anyone even slow down their offense... let alone, stop them?

POSSIBLY...They do have a fine TEAM!!!THE4RINGZ;933854 wrote:Someone in Region 13 can stop them, Region 13 isn't the WCAL

oldsmithieNorthwestern is building for the future, I had a feeling this game would be closer than most people thought
The Bears bounced back in a big way!
Smithville looked pretty good last night but, it was Rittman!
Norwayne did what we thought they would do.
Smithville and Norwayne next week!! -
oldsmithieI just saw that Girard lost last night! Bobcats might move to the top spot in Region 13.
-
oldsmithieComputer points already out!! Hillsdale jumps to #6 in region 19. Orrville jumps to #3 in region 13. Norwayne stays at #2 in region 13. Smithville stays at #10 in region 19.

Havin FunNo one really knows what Norwayne has right now. Smithville will be a decent test and week ten should be a blast against Hillsdale. Norwayne has not had to use their best weapon yet which is Wallace tucking the ball and running. Last year the Bears had the Bobcats on the ropes until the QB just took charge and ran over us down the field. He is bigger and stronger this year.
As much as I hate to say it, when the bottom five in the league get wins against each other it is no sign that they are improving. It just means you probably played some team that is in worse shape than you are. Hope next year brings some competition back! -
OQBDon't kid yourself Ringz....you are an Orrville fan.
We are going to learn a lot about the league these next two weeks:
Smithville/Norwayne
Hillsdale/Norwayne
Can either of these teams get a win? -
Need more cowbellI was at the Norwayne - Dalton game last night and was shocked to see such little fan support for the Bobcats. The bleachers were not full. You would think with an undefeated season the stadium would be packed. Is it always like that, or down because they were playing the Bulldogs? Which in my opinion shouldn't matter. Come out and support your team! In Bulldog country, if we were having a season like the Bobcats are this year, our stadium would be packed.

OQB^^ I think Paul scares fans away....
-
OQBThey will come out of the wood work when the playoffs start....that's usually how it goes.

Havin FunHonestly Cowbell, supporting your team is one thing but as a football fan this game had zero appeal. Would you drive 30 minutes to see your team win the second they walked on the field? After 8 weeks of this I am sure even the parents are tired of it. Heck, I love the Bears but no way I would shell out $12 bucks + $10 for gas for me and the Mrs. to drive to Doylestown when I already know the outcome of the game.
The Bobcat fans will show-up when they have an opponent who is capable of doing the same. My guess is this starts in week 9. -
1486wdto be honest - yes. Cowbell is correct. I have seen it year after year in bulldog country - they just always draw well and when they are good, it doesn't matter who they play - the stands are packed (especially home games). Some of it probably has to do with historical success. Norwayne didn't have a lot of people grow up coming to football games and who could blame them. If their current success continues, I would expect the attendance will come around as well. I have seen how fanatic norwayne people can be with hoops.
Norwayne definitely looks like the real deal. It is a little unfortunate for them that the WCL is as weak as it has been in years. Usually there are one or two doormats, not 5. It remains to be seen if that will affect them in the postseason. The definitely have the talent, though.Havin Fun;933987 wrote:Honestly Cowbell, supporting your team is one thing but as a football fan this game had zero appeal. Havin Fun- Your statement has some validity, I understand the zero appeal; however the Bobcat fans didn't have to drive 30 miles, or pay $10 bucks for gas to support their team...it was a home game and it is a lot more fun to watch your team win the second they step on the field, than lose. It shouldn't be about who you're playing, or yourself for that matter, but the boys. Anyway, I was just wondering if the fan support was always so low. If it is, that is too bad. And historically, yes...more fans do show up when teams make it to the playoffs. I guess as a Bulldog, I am not used to seeing such small fan support with a winning team at a home game, regardless of the other team's record.Havin Fun;933987 wrote:Honestly Cowbell, supporting your team is one thing but as a football fan this game had zero appeal. OQB^for years Orrville has had trouble filling the stands (home and away), even when the team is winning games. When the playoffs start though, the fans come out of the woodwork.
-
Red Rumafter another Bobcat 60+ point outburst last night, I gotta wonder what the WCAL record for points in a season is?
My guess is Smithville probably held it, but I just don't recall anybody rolling up the consecutive 50-60 point games like the Bobcats.
Norwaynes prolific offense has to be on pace to break whatever the record is. -
Go FalconsOK! It was an emotional roller coaster last night at the Hillsdale/NWN game and that was before the game even started. After walking through the gate with the bell and making it to my seat, two Wayne County Sheriff Deputies come up and say they were told to escort the bell back out! So after a perp walk back out to the truck, I return to my seat trying to organize a boycott of the concession stand when about fifteen minutes later the same Deputies return. The one Deputy went to NWN officials and asked what the problem was with the bell at a football game? The official realized the gate attendants were being over zealous in protecting the integrity of the NWN stadium and football program told the Deputy to bring the bell back in. So that there would not be any trouble the Deputy walked back out to my truck with me and escorted me back in through a different gate. Yes I did lift the boycott and purchased a few cokes and popcorns at the stand myself.
I would like to send a big shout out to Deputy Ron Fletcher for going above and beyond in community service. If any one knows him tell him thanks again for me. I am taking a collection for the Wayne County Sheriffs Auxiliary.
Now for the game. For Hillsdale to be competitive in week ten, we need to see big improvement in our pass D and our corners need to really step up. O line will need to do a lot better at holding their blocks.
I was real impressed with the NWN QB and his ability to through the ball. The Huskies definitely have a bright future. It was an ugly win but we finally did get a win in West Salem.
Did get to meet Sydfl at half time and had a nice chat. -
Red RumIf you would have used the Roy Bates story like I said, none of that would have happened

oldsmithieI believe the Golden Bears of Waynedale hold the record for points scored in a single season by a WCAL team. 2003 team.
-
oldsmithieI imagine that that Norwayne will bring a huge crowd to Smithville this Friday!! I know that Norwayne is very good!, but there are a lot of intangibles in this game. Smithville is facing the possibility of losing long time coach, Keith Schrock, to retirement, so there is a ton of incentive for the Smithies!! Emotions will be high and the will to WIN will play a big part in the outcome of this game. Ball control and the clock will play a big part in Smithvilles game plan.
-
BobcatSorry I'm late everyone. Not a whole lot to say. I would like to applaude Daltons young team for fighting hard last night. Even though they were getting manhandled they kept playing hard. They are going to have a fine team as they begin to mature....very young.
I dont think there is really any reason to recap. I will say this though, Norwaynes first string offense was out of the game in the 3rd qtr. Someone on here had mentioned them playing in the 4th. That did not happen. Norwayne's coaches have done a nice job not playing those guys late in games.
The easy one's are over and the boys know that. We will be pushed hard from here on out. Smithville and Hillsdale are high quality teams and it's going to take 4 solid quarters to beat both of them. -
Go Falcons
As good as Norwayne sounds and appears to be, I have my doubts. However I believe Hillsdale has yet to play their best ball. IMO what we have seen out of the Falcons is not everything and I believe Coach Williams has kept his starters in for four quarters in most games intentionally by running a vanilla type game plan. I hope I am right. If any one can get a team to step it up Coach Williams can.OQB;933977 wrote:Don't kid yourself Ringz....you are an Orrville fan.
