5knotsNorwayne is a good football team. They hung in there with Ursuline for a half. Everyone back for the most part. Not too many potholes in their schedule and they will most likely need to win most of them to reach the playoffs with a small school schedule. Difficult thing for norwayne is that if we both get to the playoffs we would most likely be the best team they would have faced to date but we would have played 5-6-7-8 teams better than them. It is only July so a lot of this talk is pretty speculative. But still fun
-
1_beastThat game would be a good one to see....as much as I would like to see the WCAL triumph....I honestly dont think I could be onboard with Norwayne.

Being blown out 42-0 is hardly "hung in there"5knots;840692 wrote:Norwayne is a good football team. They hung in there with Ursuline for a half.
Guess since it's the D5 State Camps that went 15-0 Norwayne looked good. -
BobcatWe at Norwayne sure do appreciate some of 5knots nice comments, however, if Orrville has 8 teams on their schedule better thn Norwayne they may not be making into the playoffs
-
5knotsI said 5-8 not knowing about how some will be
Northwest
Lex
Copley
Ashland
Wooster
Clear fork

There are some right there. And I don't list DIii west Holmes Dii Madison. Or triway. You tell me which one of those norwayne is better than. I don't know. Now let's talk about your schedule if you want to troll over here -
5knotsRider power I was trying to be nice. But look where it got me. Can you believe that post
Won't be hard to fire the troops up now for norwayne. We will get a lot of mileage out of that post for sure. Thanks bobcat -

CVCA will be their toughest non-conf. opponent (and only D-3 opponent on their entire schedule).
Probably need 9 wins to be a top 4 team in the region. 7 or 8 wins to make the top 8.
Have fun playing D-5 & 6 teams. Sure would be fun playing a WCAL team in the playoffs. Don't think that's ever happened. -
1_beaston a side note: Apple Creek 8 and under little league beat Orrville last week!!!
-
BRFThank you to the Plain Dealer for providing the cannon fodder needed to spice this thread up! Is the WCAL thread blowing up yet?
An added bonus is that Series62 will have nothing to say on this issue. -
FlashWe're just setting you up to crush you in HS. LOL
-
OQBThis is fun reading....Haha
-
was_that_itThis is excellent reading!!! It would be an interesting matchup, the strength of schedule really shouldn't be argued. Orrville hands down on that one. I would be in the stands for this one. It's the region 13 finals right???
-
5knotsa little ahead of ourselves at the moment, hahaha.
-
BRFHey Rider Brothers....at Bert's they have a free Marathon Gridiron Guide for the 2011 Buckeyes which give rosters of all the opponents. BRF sees Rhyne Ladrach, Chase Hoobler.....and even Max Pirman! Pretty cool.

Old RiderNORWAYNE??? NORWAYNE??? ARE WE TALKING ABOUT NORWAYNE?? NORWAYNE??...(my best Allen Iverson impression of course!)
As far as playing a WCAL school in the playoffs it has not happened YET!
But we were close in 1984(maybe 85) to playing Smithville.
If Norwayne would have won their final league game in the 1994 season we would have played them instead of Clear fork in the first round.
Those are the only two that I know of as far as "what ifs". -
Red Rider Nationhahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha Norwayne? Really we could just play our freshman team and get a better game. No disrespect to them but no WCAL team would come within 40 points of the Red Riders. No disrespect to the WCAL but seriously that would be laughable! Way too early to be jumping to conclusions but its hard not to. I would agree that we will play 8 or so teams that are better than them. If Norwayne played our schedule they would go 1-9.

In 2003 there was a possible Orrville/Waynedale match-up....but Orrville bowed out to Black River (I think)....Waynedale later lost to VASJ -
RedRider1Let's not get all cocky just yet guys. Do I think we could beat Norwayne...yes....but let's not say we'd beat them by 40 with our freshman team. That's just disrespectful and will give THEM plenty of bulletin board material.
Let's play the season and if we meet in week 11, 12 or 13, then we'll have a fun chatter week for sure. -

Anyone else think this sounds strikingly similar to Genoa fans' comments a few years ago?

Yes, it was Black River. Triway beat BR in the regular season to win the MAC outright in its last year, then lost to BR 29-14 at Wooster HS in the 2nd round after BR beat Orrville (badly, if I remember) and Triway beat Manchester. VASJ beat BR in the regional final. Waynedale and Orrville would have played in the regional championship. -

Yes it does...thePITman;841385 wrote:Anyone else think this sounds strikingly similar to Genoa fans' comments a few years ago? -
5knotsIt is one person....certainly not the opinion of all of us. I would still entertain from Bobcat where he sees Norwayne in the pecking order of our schedule since he seemed a bit taken back by my earlier post stating 5-6-7-8 teams on our schedule are better than Norwayne. That kind of started it all.
-
ridernationWow that did sound like Genoa. On any given day anything can happen, thats why you play the game.
