My goodness, PLEASE tell me that you are a parochial school graduate....PLEASE. The Cleveland Parochial Schools can call it whatever they want, we still know the purpose of the combine. -

You don't know the difference between host and hold? -

Just like Massillon can call it whatever we want, and we still know their purpose. They are using their great facilities as tool to bring in potential transfers. -
skankSo when Nike calls and asks to use our facilities we should just say no?

You have every right to yes. Just don't criticize other schools when they do the same thing.
Or
If you think it is wrong to have combines, hold your school to same standard of it being wrong. -

How bout if I hold my own school to the same standards when they hold combines that directly benefit Washington HS? I'll definately do that. -

Absolutely not! But according to your logic you should say no to some kid from let us say ORVILLE who wants to transfer to Massillon so he can make use of the facilities.skank;694755 wrote:So when Nike calls and asks to use our facilities we should just say no?
As far as athletes getting scholarships to parochial schools I'm sure they do. Just like the kids in Mooney's 14 kid band get a $500.00 scholarship. Just like the kid who transfers to Massillon to play football gets his $5,000.00 dollar scholarship. What is the difference except it's OK for Massillon but not for the parochial school, right? -

So then should we not play local High Schools at Paul Brown Tiger Stadium? That is a great facility as well. Or how about at the 'Duck' it was voted a few years ago as the nicest baseball field in Stark County, should we not play local teams there? -

Why should we? I've seen people on here make the comment that kids want to go to Mooney or Ursuline or Ignatius to have the opportunity to win a state title, (and one would be silly to think that's not true), Maybe, parochial schools should stop giving financial aid or full fleged scholarships to athletes? If you recieve aid in any way, shape or form, you are forbidden from being an athlete? Hows that sound? -

About as stupid as this sounds... if you transfer to Massillon to use the indoor facility, Paul Brown Stadium, or the baseball field you are ineligible.skank;694778 wrote:Why should we? Do these rules also apply to public school students who aren't paying the cost of their education?skank;694778 wrote:Why should we? So band kids would be forbidden to participate if they receive aid too I assume? How about the drama department? Quiz team?skank;694778 wrote:Why should we? Parochial schools (at least the ones in SWO) give aid based on entrance exam scores and financial need. There isn't a single athlete down this way on an "athletic scholarship" of any kind. -

Ok.
Are you going to answer the first question, or just blow past it as usual? If you think that financial aid recipients shouldn't participate in athletics, then it stands to reason that they shouldn't be allowed to participate in any extracurriculars. Agree or disagree? -

If that's the reason he went to Massillion then he bought a bill of goods. If it was to use the facilities ok, but to win a title come on. -

WE can finally agree on something, Paul Brown is a great facility.
I know because after we've won State Championships there, I went down on the field and celebrated with the rest of the Mooney fans.
Unfortunately for you, I can't say that you've shared the same experience -

Sure, why the hell would you come to Massillon to win a state title, I mean you ain't gonna win one there when you gotta get by, most likely a parochial to get there, then, most likely a parochial to win it. It's tough to beat all star teams. -

Nope, I haven't, see my previous post. -

Competative, ok. -
Dean WormerI am curious to see what the "SKANK SHUFFLER" has to say about this:
Last weekend the Upper Arlington girls swim team won the state championship. Upper Arlington is a Division I PUBLIC school if my memory serves me correct. There were quite a few rather large parochial school teams there and hell, even Massillon might have had a team there. These young ladies deserve a lot of credit beating those all star teams from Cleveland and Cincinnati. Especially since it is the 7th time in a row that they have done it. My goodness they must be recruiting or doing something illegal. How else could they accomplish such a feat. I'm sure it's not just the fact that they are good athletes with an obviously good coach. I think someone should contact the OHSAA and start work on leveling the playing field in girls swimming. -
skankAnd I am curious to see what the wonderful Dean Wormer has to say about this.
Lakewood St. Edward just won their 14th wrestling championship in the last 15 yrs., and 26th overall. -
skankNext week, we'll visit the tournament history of Ice Hockey.

Congratulations to St. Eds! You can put this trophy in the case next to your state championship football trophy.skank;700654 wrote:And I am curious to see what the wonderful Dean Wormer has to say about this.

Once again the Shuffler has tried to shift the focus away from his beloved public schools. If you would reread my post about Upper Arlington I congratulate the young ladies on their athletic ability and hard work which allowed them to win the championship. No sour grapes or excuses here Shuffler. -

Why would I congratulate St. Ed? Unless of course it went a little something like this, Congratulations on the recruiting class, they won you another state championship.
Furhtermore, why would the focus be on "my beloved public schools"? If anything, the focus should be on your beloved parochial schools, at least by the ohsaa investigators. -
Rocket08They're to busy investigating Massillon
