Is it time for private schools to have theyre own playoffs in football

Don't tell that to my old man. He'll be pissed that he missed out on that deal. He still resents me because I was too small for football and never got recruited to play at CMHS. He feels that if I were bigger/faster/stronger...he'd be living in a better house now that Mooney paid for.

What I meant was you rarely see kids go to a different school to get on a better swimming team like you do in football. Most of their coaching is private and although it's a team sport really it's individual for most. Obviously there are exceptions but nothing near like football.

Heck, I have never seen it before or after my cousin did it.

Luckily, you made up for it with your looks

You should call your mother everyday and thank her :)

He should call his mother every day anyway, don't you think?

I heard a rumor that a certain young swimmer from Canfield is being looked at by Upper Arlington. Any truth to that rumor?

I just want to point something out about the lovely administration at Cardinal Mooney HS. My godson who attends Mooney was recently busted by his father (my best friend) using steroids. The boy has been growing at an unusual rate and his father was suspicious...he did some snooping around and found the drugs in my godsons room. The boy says that the whole football team does it and needed it to keep up. When the father went to the administration trying to tell them about the problem...and I quote..."This is not a Mooney problem, this is a YOU problem." Wonderful.

Are the coaches or school encouraging them to use steroids? If not, then I tend to agree. People need to start being a parent and stop blaming your kids problem on someone else.

So then, did the dad drive back to Austintown and yell at his son?

Weren't you the guy that also claimed that your nephew was being called daily by Fecko trying to get him to come to Mooney. Pretty interesting that you have all these stories, yet nothing ever comes of it. I wonder why that is.

And did you ever think that if your godson is doing Roids and got caught, he's going to say..."the whole team does it" to try to avoid punishment? We're talking about kids here. They'll throw anyone under the bus if it means they won't be in as much trouble.

To an extent I agree with you. It is up to the parents to be involved with what their kids are doing. However, the students are the responsibility of teachers/coaches/administrators. If someone has a bold claim like that (assuming there was more proof than, "my son says the whole team is doing steroids") then the administration should step in.

My guess is this is just another one of those I know a guy who knows a guy type stories. It's funny that the parents of the kids that "get recruited" or something like that are never the ones to mention the story. It's always an uncle or a neighbor or a godfather who knows everything that's going on.

    Pot...meet kettle.

"Hey skank, how come Massillon didn't go far in the playoffs this year?"
    "Whhhhaaaaaaa! Private schools cheat."
"Oh ok. Do you think Massillon will have a good team next year?"
"Whhhhaaaaaaa! Probably not. The Cleveland private schools have a combi-whaaaaaaaa!"

You complaining about ANYONE having an excuse for everything is the funniest thing on here.

So....Toledo Whitmer is a parochial school now....And all this time I thought they won fair and square.
  • skank
If things were fair now....why would Dr. Ross and the OHSAA be looking for a fix. They sure as heck wouldn't change things if change wasn't needed.

You have to read one of the parochial spin masters posts, #1999.

Because schools that constantly under perform feel that getting the parochial schools out of their division will give them a better shot at winning a state championship. They have cried and whined long enough that the OHSAA is finally trying to throw them a bone to shut them up. The OHSAA is also are composed of people with the soccer mom mentality that it's not fair that one schools does well on a consistent basis. So in the thought vain that everyone deserves to be a state champion, they are looking to make that a realistic possibility.

Green=You mean, schools that aren't afforded the same luxeries as parochial schools want the rules changed so that things are FINALLY fair?

Red=Yeah, that's it. (Are you serious with this comment, or is this part of your stand up?"

Dr. Ross: "I know things are fair across the board, but let's change it anyway."

Blue=The OHSAA doesn't like schools that, "do well on a consistant basis?" I sure hope they don't find out about the wrestling tournament. Come to think of it, I hope they don't find out about Hockey either....They must have never attended a football tournament game either. (Is this part of your stand up too?)

Orange=Everyone cannot be a state champion, but on the bright side, when Ignatius wins it, the communities of Rocky River, Solon, Brecksville, Parma, Shaker Hgts....etc. can make a small claim. Same with Mooney....Struthers, Campbell, Boardman, Austintown....You get the picture.

This from the guy who used the phrase "juice box" for 3 months.
