  Go into any public school in the COUNTRY and take any kid he wants.
  Roam the sidelines buck naked.
  Shoot bottle rockets into the opposing teams locker room
  Rent homes to kids families that he just happens to coach.
  
  These are just a few things that Gerry Faust could have gottan away with during his tenure at Moeller. TWO of them he made habits of.

  Even though the "Shuffler" is a rabid parochial school hater I do have to say that Massillon has some of the best high school facilities in the state. I'm glad that teams like Mooney, Ursuline, St. Eds, Ignatius, St.X, etc. get a chance to use them in December most years.

  B. As luck would have it, the one thing he didn't make a habit of was violating OHSAA rules and getting put on probation. You should thank him for letting you actually be the best at something.

  Last weekend the Upper Arlington girls swim team won the state championship. Upper Arlington is a Division I PUBLIC school if my memory serves me correct. There were quite a few rather large parochial school teams there and hell, even Massillon might have had a team there. These young ladies deserve a lot of credit beating those all star teams from Cleveland and Cincinnati. Especially since it is the 7th time in a row that they have done it.   Are you really comparing swimming to football? Nobody choses a high school based on swimming, the best swimmers usually don't even swim in school, it's all club/private.

  While I agree that you can't really compare swimming to football, there was mention on this thread a while back about Cincinnati St. Xavier's state championships in swimming. So what's good for one side is good for the other as well.

  St X is by far the cream of the crop in swimming (boys)
  
  Upper Arlington is even more superior than that (girls swimming)
  
  One's public, one's private
  
  Read posts on here for the last 5 months and you would think that this is not possible

  I can't speak fro the present day scenario but I have a family member that chose his high school based on swimming being available. Granted that was in the late 70s early 80s. The public school where he resided didn't have a swim team and he attended a school which did offer it.
  
  He did swim in college on a full ride and competed in the Olympic trials.

  You missed the whole point, Dave. Shuffler was talking about wrestling and how a parochial school dominates in DI. He wouldn't congratulate them if God himself told him to. On the other hand I chose to use the Upper Arlington women's swim team as an example of what hard work and good coaching can do for a program. Like I said before, no sour grapes here. Just a well deserved pat on the back to Upper Arlington.

  Would that be a "PUBLIC" school? Because we all know that no matter what, the parochial schools recruit and cheat to win. I have heard that Mooney even buys cars for the kids parents on the speech team.

  Yeah I guess I didn't include enough in my post. If they don't have a team that's completely different. What I meant was you rarely see kids go to a different school to get on a better swimming team like you do in football. Most of their coaching is private and although it's a team sport really it's individual for most. Obviously there are exceptions but nothing near like football.
