Is it time for private schools to have theyre own playoffs in football
-
I Am AhabIdk, exactly how it works but I don't think it's any secret the private schools have some advantages when it comes to getting good football players, more so than publics getting players via OE.
However, this situation has always reminded me of the BoSox before they finally won the WS in '04. It used to annoy the heck out of me when those Boston fans would cry about the Yanks unfair advantage and they won because they just bought a good team every season.
Meanwhile teams like the D Backs, Marlins, Angels, etc were too busy beating the "unbeatable" Yankees to cry about how unfair the NYY advantage was.
In the end those are 16 17 n 18 year olds. No matter how much a team (private or public) resembles an all star team , they can and will be defeated.
Coldwater is a a perfect example of this. In '07 they took their hometown boys all the way across tbe state and beat a top 10 NATIONALLY RANKED Mooney team for a state title.
No reason any other school can't do the same. Rarely are one of these poor little us schools going to have to face a NATIONALLY RANKED team. -

Thank you. I love seeing you say that I am right. It has such a nice ring to it.skank;981302 wrote:Well, if Moeller brought in kids from Texas....And parts unknown, Iggy gets kids from Brecksville, Rocky River, Painsville, Oregon...We all know about the Youngstown area all star teams known as Mooney and Ursuline....But if Coldwater can win a couple of titles, everything is on the up and up....Then you're right. -

Ya and I'm sure Massillon fans were really hating the system back when they won the mythical state title every year.skank;981316 wrote:Said the guy whose team benefits the most. -

Even I'm not old enough to remember those titles. The voters had to actually use the U.S. mail to send in their votes. The internet wasn't even thought of yet.Mooney44Cards;981327 wrote:Ya and I'm sure Massillon fans were really hating the system back when they won the mythical state title every year. -
skankTrust me ladies....With the way the system is set up today, where, for example, a parochial school coach can hold a combine to find the best local, (haha, I said LOCAL), talent. Or where a parochial school coach can hand deliver a scholarsh....er, I mean voucher to a "poor inner city" kids house, these days as we know them may soon be called the "MYTHICAL DAYS OF FOOTBALL".

You mean the system where McKinley had to sit out a football season due to "recruiting" kids? Today, coupled with McKinley becoming parochial of course, those would be called vouchers. -

Mythical as in Massillon fans will pretend this era is make-believe because they can't manage to win a REAL championship.skank;981347 wrote:Trust me ladies....With the way the system is set up today, where, for example, a parochial school coach can hold a combine to find the best local, (haha, I said LOCAL), talent. BlueJColdwater and Marion Local in the State Semis again.... what advantage do they have? If Publics and Privates were in different playoffs you never would have any of the DSJ/Marion Local classics over the past decade. What a shame that would have been.

If you have them, (vouchers), they will come. Aw, who am I kidding, even if you don't have them, you'll just go out and get em. -

Of course not, not when recruiting is legalized for the privates. And furthermore, if you don't understand the situation of which I speak, please refrain from commenting. -

Enjoy the semi's this week princess, and next week should be great for you with all 6 State Championship games on TV.
Too bad D3 is in Canton though, I doubt if your mommy will let you out of school to go watch other teams actually win State Championships -
Rocket08Maybe they'll come when your school actually graduates students that can read.
But Massillon wouldn't know a whole lot about that -

No no, he's the 40 year old guy wearing his Massillon letterman jacket that waves you into the Paul Brown Tiger Stadium parking lot with that bright orange flag on championship Friday. I've seen him several times the past few years.Rocket08;981368 wrote:You gotta laugh when skank brings the word "mythical" up
