I agree. I look for Fitch,Mooney,Ursuline,Howland,WGH,Lakeview,Poland,Campbell,South Range,Columbiana, Dark Horses are LaBrae,Hubbard,Struthers,---- Girard is up in the air. I have been told they are waiting for meet the team for Interviews. I have to say Girard also cause they by all rights where a young team last year. They always have a good season and a down season! So I'm sure this will be another good season. They have a very good QB that will keep them in the game. I look for them to be like last years Salem team.
Speaking of Salem they have to Replace the beast Toothman. So I'm not sure about them also. They could be a long shot along with Canfield! These are my Predictions. I also have had some help with the JJ season preview. But i didnt agree with some. we will see.

Cant Wait for the Vindy Blitz to be in full swing. I love playing the Picks contest!! I didn't do to bad last year. Got tons right at the beginning but at the end i got slaughtered in week 8 and 10.. also week 6 was not the best!!!! Does anyone Else play The Blitz Picks?

Here is a little food for thought. Its off topic but who does ever stay on topic all the time. I have read a few columns the The Cleveland Browns Let Jake the snake go cause they are gonna take a chance on Terrelle Pryor in the supplemental draft... I love my Ohio state but this is just nuts. He is not a solid Qb in Collage but he could be a decent number 4<------ wide reciver in the west coast offense!

Love me some Ohio State... 5 of my Aunts went to OSU, my oldest cousin graduated from OSU, and her sister goes there now... haha, my Great Uncle went to Michigan on a football scholarship, and my Grandpa played football at Ohio U...

Anyway... I'm glad the Browns dumped Delhomme, but I really hope they don't go after Pryor. He's never played WR, except for a few plays in the Fiesta Bowl against Texas his Freshman year. I think he's hell bent on playing QB, and I wonder if he'd put in the effort needed to convert to WR.

Here's my playoff picks for the Valley...

    D1: Fitch and Boardman
    D2: Howland
D3: Poland, East Liverpool, and Mooney
    D4: Lakeview, Crestview, and Columbiana
    D5: Ursuline and Campbell
    D6: McDonald

    My sleepers...

    D1: Warren G. Harding
    D2: Canfield
    D3: Struthers, Hubbard, and Niles
    D4: Girard, LaBrae, and Brookfield
    D5: South Range
    D6: Warren JFK

Hubbard will make a run again along with girard. South range always makes the playoffs so i dont see that as being a sleeper but i dont think liverpool gets there this yr and neither does boardman.

EL still has Thompkins, and a lot of talent, with experience, all over the field. Coaching won't be an issue, they hired from within, and he should do just fine. I know the EL fans wanted him to get the job when Asher left... right? was Prescott the tool who cost Mark Asher his job, or was he the Head Coach in waiting that everyone was excited about? Anywho, looking at their schedule... yeah, the playoffs are a long shot, and a prayer, for the Potters. My mistake.

Boardman... Pollifrone and Hammond will light it up this year. 6-4 last year... one more win would've gotten them in. It'll come down to the pass protection, coaching, and how bad they want it. I give them the benefit of the doubt. Kind of my surprise pick... maybe they're more of a sleeper though.

Look at Girard's schedule... I see them at 6-4 again. I'm not sold on them just yet. Still, it wouldnt surprise me if they went 8-2 or 9-1 this year. They'll have a good team, but I still think they have question marks, and huge shoes to fill.

Hubbard... I could see them going between 4-6 and 8-2. They're a sleeper. They lost their entire offense, except for a couple lineman, and their entire defense, except for a linebacker and some linemen (I'm not sure). I know they lost almost everyone with experience. Still, the Eagles should bring some nice computer points to the table. Hubbard reloads as good as anyone, but I'm not convinced that this won't be a rebuilding year. They willll be way better in week 9, than they'll be in week 1.

Looking bakc five years, South Range was a bubble team in 2010 (8 seed, 7-3), they went 2-8 in 2009, a 6 seed in 2008 (8-2), they did get the 1 seed in 2007 (10-0), and they got the 2 seed in 2006 (10-0). They were D5/R17 every year. So yeah, 4/5 is pretty good. They have a good shot at getting in. 7-3 would probably get them to the playoffs. 6-4 and they'd likely be out though. More of a bubble team than a sleeper.

When does Campbell start doubles and hitting?

I think Aug 1st.. most do. I know my son is off till the first. That's when doubles are allowed in Ohio

Thompkins is a great player but coaching does alot.. Look at hughes for campbell last yr they got him the ball in the open field and he did damage. Asher is a mastermind when it comes to football they went 2-8 with thompkins the year before with a totally diff offense.
  • BTrev
Mark Asher was EL's Head Coach in 2009. It was his first year at EL, and Thompkins first year as a starter (he was a Sophomore). EL went 4-6 in 2009.

alot of misinformation on this site, please do your homework before you post inaccuracies.

Yup but EL was Very young on offence. It always take a good year to get your system implemented. Campbell had the athlete's when Bayuk took over. But Campbell had low numbers and i don't even think they had a 7 and 8th grade team till Bayuk came in as coach. I was told by Let_Go_Devils when he gave me a tour of the Campbell Hall of Fame that the kids back in the 8th grade made a pact to stay together! It payed of big as you can now see. I don't think Struthers is in the shape as Campbell was when Bayuk came in. Hell Nobody even thought the turn around was gonna happen this fast. I for sure wanted it to but didn't think that it would only be 3 years and we made playoffs. I see Struthers better this year a win or two more then last year... And trust me thats a big step when you come in after a coach like Dallas!

Intersquad scrimmage this Saturday (unsure of the time)

Next Saturday is the first real scrimmage against Springfield Local, 10am at Memorial Stadium.

90 is correct, August 1st is the official day for anything. Doubles, Hitting, etc.

I can't wait for the Hoot&Holler drill. Always an exciting time, first contact of the year.

Saunders wasn't nearly as bad of a coach as Pirone, Jr. Dibacco ran Zetts off in favor of him, and she passed on Mickey Sikora for him... not smart. Struthers was loaded in '04, and they had all their skill players coming back in '05. 1-9 both years.

I won't say anything bad about Saunders. All I'll say is 12-38 in five years. It was time to move on. Articles on myvalleysports.com and vindy.com/blitz say he was 14-36 in five years. Those are incorrect. 2 wins in '06, 2 wins in '07, 2 wins in '08, 2 wins in '09, and 4 wins in '10. 2+2+2+2+4 = 12... 50 games in 5 years, 50-12 = 38. 12 wins and 38 losses.

With Mark Asher taking over, things are certainly looking up. It's been 10 years since Struthers last winning season (6-4 in 2001). I like their chances of ending that drought this year.

Thanks Sonny. I knew it was something along those lines. But those little league football teams are very very important.
  • sonnyblack
Gotta give major "props" to steve 'beaker' elash and his crew for bringing back the little red devils a few yrs ago. They have done extremely well since their return!

I responded to this, I just didn't quote reddevil90 directly. I figured it'd be pretty obvious who my post was directed at.

BTrev, Ohio was referring to me with the "troll" comment. He is upset because I asked if everyone could not deliberately post inaccuracies on the forum. Im tired of hearing that Brookfield is D6 and Asher's first year at EL was last year. If you dont know what you are talking about then dont post it....OHIO. So hes a little salty, but its ok I just hope he doesnt use Wikipedia to write research papers anymore.

Please tell me how im salty? My point with asher was just implying the fact that he is a ten times better and established coach then saunders and if you dont agree with that you are a moron. If you dont like what i post oh well cry about it at you little get together at mcdonalds.
