Week 13: Marlington vs Dover
-
tsst_fballfanWas sitting with my nephew tonight at the game. In the third quarter he said to me that the Dover fans on here would cry turnovers and officiating as the reason they lost and not that Marlington was the better team. The young man hit that nail right on the head!

They sucked both ways though, it's not like they cost anyone the game. They were definitely flag happy. -

Actually, I had to edit over McKinley,,,,,,,,, -
justincredibleLocoEngineer66;568621 wrote:Just got home. All I am going to say is the outcome is what I thought it would be. Like I said before, not too many people on here knew much about Marlington. We are going back Saturday to watch them win again. We want this state title to be in region 11.
They're my pick to win the state title. -

So let's see here.... the final score was 35-23. What's not to realize that Marlington was the better team? They won! Just because I did not state it for everyone to see (because it is an obvious fact) doesn't mean you need to jump to conclusions.. wow.
Did you expect me to jump up and down and wave an orange flag and say, "Oh yay, Marlington won! Such an outstanding team... so awesome.. I hope they win State." Or should I be honest and say I witnessed a dirty team on the field, and lost all respect for them? I say we flip a coin. -

dover2092Congratulations Marlington. Wow, superb running backs broke Dover's back. Very impressive for a teams' first playoff run. I wish you the best of luck in representing Region 11 in the Final Four. Also very impressed with the fan base at the game - much larger crowd than Dover.
Again, great job.
Any word on the Marlington lineman who was carried off of the field? Torn ACL?
Prayers for him. -

It was a Dover boy who got carried off. I honestly hope he is ok too.dover2092;568726 wrote:Congratulations Marlington. Wow, superb running backs broke Dover's back. Hobgoblin5 turnovers won't win you a game at this level...
Otherwise, I think Dover could have won...
I thought Steubenville was tougher than Marlington...
Regardless, hats off to the Dukes...
Dover will be back in 2011...mark my words!

OQBGreat season Dover, wish you could've pulled it out!

bases_loadedLol at losers from Massillon spending their Saturday nights on a message board to rip on a team that was still playing two weeks later.

No, most my night was spent watching Marlington rip dOVER a new one. -

I had to leave the game early, I thought the radio said a Marlington player? Wasn't it the noseguard?LocoEngineer66;568736 wrote:It was a Dover boy who got carried off. I honestly hope he is ok too.
Doesn't really matter which team, any teenager with a major injury is heartbreaking. -
dover2092Marlington's secondary was unreal. Many times the Dover QB had plenty of time to throw....no one open. Also the Dukes "broken plays" action just destroyed Dover. That comes from raw talent and diciplined coaching.
-
Go_Fast_SportsIt was a Dover noseguard on the Marlington sideline... the announcers probably couldn't see him.

stallvr4A few plays before Marlington's last TD, they threw a swing pass to #1 (Thomas). The cuts he made on that run were absolutely sick. That kid is incredible.

My dad said he was convinced the injured Dover D lineman had his ankles broken on that play trying to keep with Thomas after one of his cuts... haha -

finster4307Congratulations Marlington - impressive win.
Dover fans should be optimistic - you have a nice throwing QB to build around next year. It made the difference for us when we won back-to-back titles.
Marlington fans must be on cloud 9 - hopefully you'll win it all.
I know where I'll be next Sat.
