let's face it. We are all at the mercy of the teams in our Conference. We have been fortunate the last few years with our schedule.

The boys got themselves into a very deep hole early to a very tough team and had to learn how to dig themselves out for the first time in the season in a game with everything on the line. This year they should be better prepared after the tight games with Oak Harbor, Eastwood, OG and CF.
    Classic cause & effect relationship.

    Cause: A weak schedule
Effect: No close, competitive games...and the first time it happened, they didn't know how to react.

You can't make the claim of "we didn't have any close games" without at least giving a partial nod to schedule strength. They're mutually exclusive.

In 2009, Genoa's opponents went 40-60 in the regular season, just like in 2010.....so are the closer games a result of the opponents being better, or Genoa maybe not being as dominant as they were last year?

Are there places to eat after you get off the turnpike? Asking me to drive 90 minutes and NOT stop for food would be like asking Genoa to play more than 1 division 3 opponent per year.
That is a sweet map that you made. I've never been able to look at a map to see just exactly how my route looked. I think it really is the best way. As far as places to eat, Con Alma is right in that there will be a couple of fast foods off the turnpike and maybe a few going down Bradley at the big intersections. However, once you get to Walker and 83 (Center or Avon Belden), there are a slew of fast foods and sit downs, including a BW3's (the Bdubs would be straight on Walker and maybe a quarter mile on your right). At that point you would only be a mile from the stadium, too.

Drew pasteur site picks genoa by 7. I guess were done might as well tuck tail and run.

No questions about it - a weak schedule led to a lack of close games last year. This year's team doesn't seem to have had as many quick scoring big runs or passes - much more of a grind it out style with this year's personnel. Frankly I wasn't terribly impressed with the team the first half of the season, but the last few games they have shown tremendous improvement and seem to be playing much, much better.

Another 2 cents worth - Last year it almost seemed like the goal was to get to a rematch with Kettering Alter - not that they were looking past Orville - all the racket on jjHuddle and in the local newspapers made that impossible, but they may have set their goals too high too early - we'll never know. This year I don't have a boy on the team anymore, but I get the sense that a big goal was to get a rematch with Orville - but the strength of OG and CF have made it impossible to look past each of these weeks.

Should be a fun game to watch cannot wait for it, Avon Lake looks like a great facility, RR1 any word on Tre's injury? I just seen him hobble off towards the end of the game, hopefully nothing serious.

Thanks for bringing that up, as I forgot to say that Simpson is A-OK. He got the old "twister" at the bottom of the pile by one of the Panthers!

What are some of the Genoa player's stats this year?

Last year what killed Genoa was the Edison game. I mean this team might not have been tested in the regular season but when the calendar flipped to Week 11 they turned it up against the top teams. Last year what we saw was Genoa do that and come out and crush Edison 62-6 and I think they really believed they would stop any opponent that came in their way and I think it affected their focus a little bit

genoa comet it said it right. i played on the team in when we lost to aleter my brother was on the team last year and i was real close with a lot of those seniors, it wasn't disrepect to orriville, the players the community wanted another crack at alter. who woudn't? it was a hell of game and if genoa doesn't turn it over on our 20 and get stopped on 4 th down a couple times its a completely different ball game. i will admit as a fan last year i thought we were gonna meet alter in the state championship game, a lotta fans did. i will eat crow, i was blinded, but lesson learned, don't over look any team.

What game are you talking about that would be different? The Orrville game or the Alter game?

Move on, its 2010 and that is what this thread is for!

If any want to watch the Genoa - Clear Fork game, this site has it listed under game of the week.

You can find it here http://www.wmfd.com/gameroom/

After watching the game 3 times I see nothing at all that Genoa has that EC didn't have. If the Riders come out and play Genoa with the same intensity, you can count on the Riders being in week 14.

Mason and Max will stop the run and force them to pass more and then Turner, Tre and Davis will shut down their receivers. There won't be any of those easy catches like the Colts gave away, I just don't see it.

After watching this game I don't think the Colts nearly played as hard as they did against the Riders. The hits were so so nothing to brag about, but the offensive line just didn't have that same push or drive like they had when we met. Down linemen were making adjustments lining up 2 yards off the ball giving Genoa a gimme 4 to 6 yards a pop up the middle. To me Clear fork just didn't play Colts football like they have all year. Maybe a little beat up coming into week 12 I don't know but if you seen the Orrville game you'll clearly see what I'm talking about if you watch the Genoa - Clear Fork

I said it on the other site and will say it here. Shut up about why genoa lost to orrville last year. The excuses for losing are endless. The riders were on the lucky end of a genoa implosion. Thats how genoa treats it. Blame the loss on whatever you want its over. Just stop we are sick hearing about last year. Genoa has a great team they are not here by accident and the Riders are not here by accident either. This will be an exciting rematch. I really feel CF was a great team with questionable run defense and genoa exposed that. Genoa made some great passes in that game when needed. Good teams adjust and improvise. The Riders are not a 33 to 0 team come friday the loss to clear fork woke up people to our areas of weakness and proper adjustments were made. If genoa thinks we are a 33 - 0 get blown out team good for them we will be prepared.

You only look as good as the other team let's you. Genoa will not come into this game with the same game plan as last week.

I agree in part. IMO Clear Fork was probably the most pumped up they could possibly be going into the Orrville game. They had never beat us in what 10 - 11 meetings and they were playing for the OCC championship outright. We also played very poorly on offense probably the worst seen in 30 years.

Who said that? Don't go to other sites and read trash and come back here and take it out on us. This thread has been pretty good with alot of respect from both sides. No one is over looking this from Genoa or Orrville. Why don't you add something to this thread and tell us a little about Orrville?

I will add something. Riders have great receivers if Turner catches the ball in space say goodbye. Brenner is very good on the jump ball.

I already addressed that about 2 days ago. Of course we have a few dumb people on here from both sides. Thank you for your next post. that does give us someone to keep an eye on. I think this is going to be a great game. I can not wait til friday.
  • OQB
That's what I have been saying if Genoa tries to put 8 guys in the box to stop the run, we will throw up top to Turner and Brenner who WILL get behind you...its happened every single game, and it depends on how our QB is throwing. If he's on, watch out!
  • OQB
In my opinion, Turner is the same player as Sam miller was last year only a hellava lot faster!
