5K I gotta hand it to you, I've been on these High School forums for little over 6 years now and I always believed that BRF was the King on these type of boards, but here within the past year you've been stride for stride with the best of them. :D

By any chance did you watch the Genoa - Ottawa-Glandorf game film ? If so what is your take on it?
I am going to try and watch that tonight....report coming.

Click it was the JJ thread in general, and I know it does not represent the feeling of all Genoans, but from the git go most who had an opinion on the game did not even give us the due diligence to even take the effort to find out who we were and what we were about. It was all about Genoa in a blow out....and if we were as goods as some on the huddle from our side were trying to say, then it was Genoa by 21. And I will tell you right now,,,,,Elyria Catholic did the same thing. the way it looked they just figured they do their thing like every other week and they win. did not make one adjustment to us....like we were just going to let 21 run free and catch his 10 balls and 3 tds. We got in his face on the line of scrimmage and did that play after play ...end of that story.

That is what is different this year. You realize that any opponent in the play offs deserve the kudos for being there....any opponent. Your team did not portray that last year...From what I hear this year, .I think you all have been very pleased with how your Comets go about their business. Isn't it refreshing.

Idk.. y Elyria Catholic would be that cocky.. they barely beat a mediocre Huron team.

Good convo goin on this page! Picked up more good thoughts in the last 5 posts than the first 18 pages!
    OrrvilleQB;562097 wrote:Well according to good ol Urban Dictionary;

Being taught the proper way to preform an action, via extreme ownage and embarrasment. This requires the schooler, who is always of such a high level of skill that the schoolee has no chance of saving his reputation, to utterly dominate and show no remorse. If remorse is shown, it is done in a cool and laid-back way, as in to say "Your not even worth the effort of my pinkie finger", which ironically is just as brutal as an all-out ownage. If you ever find yourself being schooled, it is wise to not bi*** about it. Doing so makes you look like a tool.

    In a sentence:
Dude...Genoa was getting schooled by Orrville while playing football. Genoa decided to be a tool and talk crap about Orrville while they were losing 28-6. Orrville then released a can of unrelenting whoop-a** on Genoa, who then had no choice but to shut the lights off, light a candle and cry.

:D joking of course, straight from UrbanDictionary.com

This is going to be a great game, but it's going to be hard to beat last year's game!

Stupidity is an unattractive quality my friend! Losing by 1 point in a hard fought game after being down by 22 in the first half is in no way shape or form being schooled. Now a few years ago while I was at Genoa, we played Eastwood and lost by 68 points... That is what I call being schooled. Neither Genoa or Orrville has been schooled by anyone over the past few seasons!

And just so you know just because a wedsite has dictionary in the web address, doesn't make it an actual dictionary!

Talking to my dad and friends of mine that have kids in the lower grades...they said all the kids want to be comets. Before Vicars came the football team was loosing some of their better athletes to other sports like soccer. Now you see the complete opposite. Everyone wants to be a part of the football team. The lower levels are getting high numbers. Vicars has started a good feeder system to keep Genoa football where it needs to be. Genoa is a passionate community. Lets just hope that Vicars is here to stay for a long time.

I am pretty sure BRF was referring to being schooled in the broader sense. Not necessarily on the playing of football, for we both showed we could do that, but more on being schooled on how to handle yourself leading up to and being a part of a High School play off game.

I just have to add that after 17 or so pages finally the conversation has turned a bit better and I find it much more enjoyable. I was hoping Orrville would take EC because I truly think that this will be an epic rematch between our 2 schools. I was wondering if any Orrville fans could FF us to Friday so we can watch some football already.

I know what you mean Dare668, your 2nd regional final in 3 years our 3rd in 5 years. Two rock solid programs as of late that seem to be on a collision course........hopefully for a long time. Weather looks absolutely perfect for Friday night. 13th straight week for that.

I don't know if there is a word to describe them either. But if I were to pick one, I'd say the Comets have "grit".
They are tough and they don't quit. ...that's G :D

This makes much more sense and I apologize if I took it wrong... It was just one of those words that was rubbing me the wrong way.

Genoa has never lost to Eastwood by 68 points. at least not in your or my lifetime. Sure, a few years ago Genoa was losing by considerable margins, but 68 was never up on the scoreboard.

16 mph SSW predicted for 7:00 PM
It'll be brisk. Perfect for football.

Like to see the lake winds pick up. It would help neutralize Orrville's passing game and put the ball into Nutter's hands to grind out the clock. Is it Friday yet?
  • RedRider1
^^We can do that too. Got a couple of backs that have each run for 100+ in the same game.

Had an 18-play, 89 yard drive that ate 9 minutes off the clock last week.
  • buhrdog
Sounds like Orrville is the complete team...Like I said is it Friday yet? I think after reading the boards and the way it started out I think we can quote Rocky

"During this fight, I've seen a lot of changing, in the way you feel about me, and in the way I feel about you. In here, there were two guys killing each other, but I guess that's better than twenty million. I guess what I'm trying to say, is that if I can change, and you can change, everybody can change! "

If Genoa doesn't win I will become a big fan of the Red Riders...until then Go Comets.

see we can all get along

    GCTD64,

The Urban Dictionary thing was a joke, lighten up man! lol I (OrrvilleQB) meant nothing by it.

I respect Genoa last year, and I respect them this year. What they are doing is quite impressive (Mount Union like) They just need to get over that hump to get to the big dance. The Riders need to get over that same hump to get to the big game.

This is going to be one heckava ball game and hopefully it will be a little more civil than last year's game, and I think it will be.

Genoa has that Blue Collar work ethic this year and plays extremely hard to win each and every game, they don't have that blowout mindset like the past few teams had. Which is a good thing! I think they got humbled last year, and we are seeing the results of it this season.

May the best team win, and whoever moves on I will be rooting for them!

    Go Riders!

In the end, it's 16, 17 & 18 year old kids playing a game for love.

Two small towns, two proud fanbases. Playing for the right to be called regional champions. After this game, one team will play for the right to earn a spot in the state title game. Yea...we're THAT close.

Haha RR1, please don't remind me of my junior year when we had to play University of Mooney and how close we really were.....I still say we would've gotten to the big dance if they weren't in division IV

But didn't Coldwater take care of them for the publics after that? :D
    Is that the year?

Wouldn't it be great to be in High School and play in a game this big. I played on Genoa's 89 team that went 10-0 and not make the playoffs. We always felt that team had what it took to win a couple of games in the playoffs.

I know some of you Orrville posters have been in games of this caliber...you can just imagine what is going through these kids heads right now.
