Round 2: Orrville Red Riders 8-3 vs Elyria Catholic Panthers 10-1

  • THE4RINGZ
That was my pre game speech. I was not talking to RR1, riders1, or Oldrider. I was speaking to the team of players. Not posters on a message board.

    Quit being so damned paranoid.
  • Old Rider
Oh I can't wait till Friday!

I see. Thanks for clarifying for me.

Paranoid? I am never paranoid. Where did that come from??
  • THE4RINGZ
Maybe paranoid is not the right word. But you seem a little edgy about this game. Like you are looking for a fight.
  • Old Rider
We could use a good pregame speech this week!

There you go Ringz...I will let a certain brother know you wanna speak in our lockerroom!
  • 1_beast
Fight??? Beast is a scrapper....hear me Meow...(as the Tooth stated)
  • nw-indian-dad
Good Luck freshman Joel Zook and the Orrville Red Riders!
  • OQB
Big Ringz would no doubt give a good pregame speech! haha

And I'm sure he would incorporate our SOS, 40 times, and scholarship offers into it :D

    What? Lol.

The only things I have contributed to this thread has been very matter of fact like.

I haven't been edgy about a football game in a decade or two ...this one is no different.

To be honest I don't even care who wins this game I simply think it's an interesting match-up and would like to follow it.

I really don't know how to look for a fight on the internet. I do, however, think it's funny to watch some of these posters chest thump with words over a football game. That's the true entertainment to me.

Looks to be a great battle. Riders will need to keep defense fresh must not go 3 and out or seven and out
  • 5knots
Just score and out every time!
  • RedRider1
Don't think I'm splitting the atom here...but think we'll need to put up 30+ if we want to talk about winning this one.

Hope our guys dont sit back on our heels and let Reaser pick his targets. I don't care how good your DB's are, give a QB all day and he WILL find someone open.

I think the days of being "intimidated" by parochial schools are over.....but if I'm Coach, I get someone from the '84 team in the locker room before the game. Get 'em worked up a little.

I like that. If the offense plays like Wooster game it may happen.

Please give Turner the ball. I was shocked not to see one bubble screen in our two games this year.
  • 5knots
OK Pit...now a man of your football knowledge should know a Bubble screen works when the defense is pinning their ears coming after the QB in numbers.....not exactly what Triway was doing. We have attempted the wideout screen to Turner. Threw it over his head last week. Not an easy throw to make especially on our field with the 10' crown! Tried the middle screen to Turner in the Woo game...incomplete. Takes a QB with some poise and experience to pull that off. Our guy is getting better each week so you never know, but just because it is in the play book does not mean it is a good play to call. It is all based on what the defense is doing. Turner is a great athlete. Brenner is great athlete. So is Rice, Priman, Monheim, Simpson. These guys are all above average at the least when it comes to athleticism. We try to get all of them ball.

"..."They're like Ashland, only maybe a little better," Orrville coach Doug Davault said. "They've got three guys with almost 200 catches and 30 touchdowns, and that's where they differ -- Ashland had a couple of guys they wanted to get the ball to, Triway had Sawyer Polen and some others you had to watch, but we felt we had to take Sawyer away and take our chances with the other guys. The other way they differ is that these guys try to extend the field. They'll try to go deep on you.

"He's a bigger kid with a real strong arm who will run only when he has to," he added of Reaser. "He wants to sit back, find a guy and get rid of it. They'll go vertical, too, they want to throw it down the field." ..."

"10' crown???!" Isn't that more like a hill, you can't see the other side of the field with a crown that high!

Perhaps the coaches should be more versatile in devising plays and schemes to get the ball to Turner, after all, there were what, 5-7 attempts to put the ball in his hands and 3 of those resulted in a score wherein he either outran his defender/s or ran the ball extremely well with some nice moves, i.e. cuts/jukes...

That cocky & arrogant Doug Davault..... :)

Yeah...our poor Coach has a hard time seeing the other side! haha. Stu is phenomenal in space. The running back part of his game is still developing. As it does...look out. I will tell you he is a completely different player now than he was 1st day of hitting. I would like to think that is a product of our system. With his acceleration and velocity he can separate a receiver from the ball...and seems to be enjoying it! Cannot wait to see him after an off season in our weight program.

If it's not obvious to the coaches that Stew needs to touch the ball 7-10 times on offense (not counting special teams) per game....then it never will be.

Get the ball to Max (as much as some diss him, he's a big target and makes big plays) and Stew as much as possible. Exploit the talent you have.....EC will.

A big target does not necessarily make a scoring threat...

What big play has Pirman made? A wide open catch on a fake-punt was nice, with his 4.5-40 speed what was the YAC...and he was WIDE-OPEN!

I saw Turner make 3 big plays...exploiting your "offensive" talent would make Turner a consideration before Pirman. "Athletically" speaking that is...
  • Series62
Speaking of big plays...what big play has he made on defense lately?

It is not a diss, (disrespect), simply because his Big Ten DE "talent" hasn't been seen! Stop attempting to make it seem as though people are putting down some of the football players.

They must have missed it during the election of the OCC Defensive POY too!
  • RedRider1
Max has heighth and when he's targeted, he catches the ball. My bigger point is that all of our weapons need to be on the field on both sides of the ball.

Both Max & Stew have been blessed with athletic ability over and above what most have. We're fortunate to have both suiting up for us tomorrow night.

Is that why so many are complaining about his play calling? Perhaps he should listen to his guys in the "box".

I believe that speed and maneuverability was there when he transferred, the coaches should have adopted and utilized that a long time ago.
