Cavs @ Jazz

Skyhook794. The who is better, Cavs or Magic, is a moot point because the real best team ended up winning the Championship anyway.

disagree. The same shots that were wide open and falling in the Cleveland series, were bricks against the Lakers. I do agree that the Lakers were the best team though, but definitely not because of defense.JakeGiant wrote:wes_mantooth wrote: I am not in agreement that the Cavs need to get rid of Brown, I just don't think he is anything special. I think there are very few difference making coaches in the NBA...Sloan, Popavich, and Jackson. I do agree with footwedge in that upsets happen even in a 7 game series......the best team doesn't always win. Orlando just shot an unbelievable percentage and then they went cold against the Lakers.....it happen.
1) Orlando Series wasn't an upset.
2) Cleveland's D was great...against less-than-stellar competition. Against the better teams, they cracked.
3) Orlando went "cold" because the Lakers played better D. -

The Lakers most definitely played better defense. The Lakers completely shut down Dwight Howard.wes_mantooth wrote:

SQ_CraziesDwight Howard's stats vs Lakers:
Game 1: 12 pts, 15 boards, 2 assists, 2 steals, 2 blocks
Game 2: 17 pts, 16 boards, 4 assists, 4 steals, 4 blocks
Game 3: 21 pts, 14 boards, 2 assists, 1 steal, 2 blocks
Game 4: 16 pts, 21 boards, 2 assists, 0 steals, 9 blocks
Game 5: 11 pts, 10 boards, 1 assist, 1 steal, 3 blocks
Average: 15.4 pts, 15.2 boards, 2.2 assists, 1.6 steals, 4 blocks
I wouldn't say they completely shut him down. They limited his scoring more, but it's been proven over time that slowing him down from a scoring standpoint happens on a semi-regular basis. The Lakers just had guys in the post that could match up with him better than the Cavs. -
Skyhook79
He also shot only 48% from the field vs the Lakers and played an average of 42.6 minutes per game against the lakers.SQ_Crazies wrote: Dwight Howard's stats vs Lakers:

Compare that to the Cavs series where he played only 38.5 minutes per game, shot 65% from the field, averaged 25 .8 ppg and 13 rpg.
The Lakers for sure shut him down. -
cviewIf any of you believe that the Magic were "super hot" from behind the arc for two weeks while playing the Cavs then went "super cold" when playing the Lakers then you're retarded. The Cavs steamrolled the Pistons and Hawks and then suddenly sucked all Orlando series? Sure, that's how it works. Over a 7 game series the better team will show itself. Cleveland got shit on in an elimination game and some of you still think they were the better team. Part of being the best is being able to beat four teams with different styles, different personnel, etc. The shots that Orlando took in the Cleveland series were over 6'3" guys or Anderson Varejao who had to give space(Lewis' Game 1 winner). There's a little bit of a difference between Delonte West/Anderson Varejao and Trevor Ariza/Lamar Odom.
Orlando was a bad matchup for Cleveland, plain and simple. They were too small and unathletic to get out to Orlando's shooters. Had Boston won the Orlando series the Cavs would have walked to the Finals. -
JakeGiantSometimes, denial can be a real pain.

Footwedge^^^^Look up the numbers on the Magic last year from behind the arc in the reg. season vs. the playoffs vs. the Cavs. It was an anomole, a friek of nature, a lightning strike, hitting the lottery type of thing....especially given the fact the during the season, the Cavs were the #1 defensive team against the 3ball.
Hey...shit happens all the time. Back in 1969, the Colts were favored by 18 points over Namath's Jets. Jets won 16-7. Had they played the following Sunday, the Colts would have been favored by 17 points.
Against the Lakers, the Magic had the exact same looks and missed them.
The matchup argument is overrated. Are the Atlanta Hawks better than the Celtics this year? You won't find one NBA guru that would buy that....despite Atlanta blowing out Boston twice in the Garden and once at home.
Kudos to the Magic for playing way over their heads and upsetting the heavily favored Cavaliers. -
JakeGiantIn a 1-game setting, those are truly upsets. When a team that's been consistently beating you, and then did it again in a 6-game Series, they're simply better.

h2thaizzoWOW, Phil, Skyhook, whatever your real name is, and jake, I find it shocking as a Cavs fans that I'm starting to like you guys better than my own fellow Cavs fans. I've never met a fucking tool like footwedge before, who feels like he's a tough guy by saying stupid shit time and time again to people like me that realize our coach may in fact be holding us back from being even better. I use facts, I've posted how many times now the fact that we DO NOT win defensive contests enough, yet, he still manages to snake his way into more yadda yadda bullshit talk, with no facts. "He was coach of the year a year ago". Woopty fucking doo. Did we win the ring? Does it really matter what award he won? I don't give a shit. He might as well give that award to John Kuester, since its been a proven fact that our offense (you know, those games we almost never lose when we put up 100 or more) has done a hell of a lot better for this team than Browns defense (.650 win percentage when we don't put up the magical 100).
-
FootwedgeLOL^^^. You post facts? I posted the facts. It's up to you to read them and understand them. And dude...this is the internet...really...it will all be OK. Trust me.
-
h2thaizzoThe internet? You don't say Al Gore. After all, you were the pissy bitch last night that wouldn't stop with the name calling, so don't act all innocent today. Oh yeah, how do your knees feel after blowing Mike Brown last night?

Magic regular season 3pt%- .381
Magic Playoff 3pt%- .359
Magic/ Cavs series 3pt% .401
Thats not an anomole, a freak of nature, a lightning strike, hitting the lottery type of thing IN ANY WAY!!!!!!!!!!!! -

You're talking to a brick wall man. The only stats the guy cares about are 66-16 and Mike Brown coach of year. Nothing else matters to him. -

Nice high school humor there...grow up. What are you, 13? Serious question.h2thaizzo wrote: The internet? You don't say Al Gore. Thanks for posting what I already knew. Maybe you need a math lesson. .401 is signifantly higher than .359. Or 381 for that matterSkyhook79 wrote:Footwedge wrote: ^^^^Look up the numbers on the Magic last year from behind the arc in the reg. season vs. the playoffs vs. the Cavs. It was an anomole, a friek of nature, a lightning strike, hitting the lottery type of thing....especially given the fact the during the season, the Cavs were the #1 defensive team against the 3ball.

And the .359 illustrates even further that the Magic lit it up against Cleveland...and not the Lakers. Do you want me to post the Magic's 3% against the Lakers?
I didn't think so.
Like I said...congrats to the Magic for pulling off one of the biggest upsets in sports history. -

I'm not surprised.h2thaizzo wrote: Yes, I am, which means I'm a year older than you. -
hoops23The Magic dominated the playoff series with the Cavs and also won the regular season series..
That is not an anomaly, that is Orlando being the better team... They also destroyed us in that late regular season game in Orlando...
We were only the favorites because we had a better regular season record... -
devil1197
Yep and you would have thunk Brown would have made adjustments or created a game plan to somewhat slow the mis matches that Orlando had on us. But he didn't and when he knew he had to change something he had no clue what to do at all.LTrain23 wrote: The Magic dominated the playoff series with the Cavs and also won the regular season series..
