2016 Browns Season Thread

I trust hue Jackson over anybody on this site. If he thinks he can work RG3 and make him successful I'll be on board. God knows we are going to have a top pick next year.

And this could be part of the thought process. If they think this team is really going to suck (as in 2-14 suck), they may bring someone like RG3 in on a one year deal.

As mentioned, they may not be high on Goff or Wentz and want to roll the dice and see if they can get Deshaun Watson next year? I know there are a lot of "if's" and you can't bank on a player like Watson either being healthy or being the top QB but that could be their mindset.

Either way, there are going to need another QB because we all know McCown is likely to get hurt.

Who are some of the other QB's that should come out next year?

A name I keep hearing as a "sleeper/later round" QB in this coming draft is Vernon Adams from Oregon. He's a little older (23) but some of these analysts are really loving this guy. Saying he could be "this years Russell Wilson." Could probably be had in the 5th round unless the buzz starts growing more on him. Might be a decent get (not in exchange for a QB at 2, if they go that route) with a compensatory pick if he's still around.

Yeah except RG3 might be the 2nd worst QB in the league(or the worst if Manziel isn't picked up).

He's also too big of a name to bring in just to sit behind someone. Bad idea. Bad bad bad.

RG3 is straight garbage. I thought this team was planning to do it he right way?

You can't state it any better than that. Straight garbage.

I highly doubt he'd be brought in to be the solution.

Then it's pointless to have him. We already have a shitty QB in Mccown.

It really doesn't make any sense. Didn't they learn anything by bringing in the previous media-nuisance (manziel)? It doesn't fucking work.

Why do we always try to be so smart? Just draft a QB at 2, keep mccown to start and mentor, and see how it works out. But no not the Browns, let's bring in Hollywood Johnny and if he fails we'll being in Robert fucking griffin. Smh

Yeah pretty dumb. However, it hasn't happened yet. Hopefully Cowboys sign him or something and save us from ourselves.

Broncos want him too supposedly. If I were him...not a hard choice between Browns and Broncos.

    Browns will pay more.

I hope he goes to the Broncos. If we want a piece of trash at QB, we would have kept Johnny.

If they bring him in, they shouldn't pay him more than what they are paying McCown.

There will be enormous pressure in Denver and lets say they go to the AFC Championship and lose, he will be blamed. If they win the Super Bowl, well, he won't ever get full credit. Gasp...I'd almost rather choose Cleveland. Expectations for success are so low that just becoming average would be a win.

If you were him, and you've been killed by injuries...wouldn't you look at what you have in front of you blocking and take the first flight to Denver?

Jay Glazer ‏@JayGlazer 1h1 hour ago Prevailing feeling among coaches and GMs here in Boca at NFL owners mtg is that most expect Browns to be able to get deal done w RG3

Well shit. This is a terrible mistake. I hope the deal is cheap, short, and comes with some many conditions that RG3 needs to hire 3 lawyers to understand if he's getting $5 or $6.

It's only a stupid move if it changes the Browns draft approach. Otherwise, regardless of price (the Browns aren't in dire need of cap space, so might as well spend it), it's a low risk move. Now, if they decide to pass on a QB and think they can find a gem in the 4th or 5th round, it's dumb.

Exactly. Signing Griffin should not change their draft plans at all. Still need to go after a QB at 2 (assuming they think he's worth it).

The biggest issue I have with this (from what I've heard) is that it makes McCown expendable/trade bait. I'd rather have McCown here to groom/mentor a young QB versus Griffin fighting it out/competing with the #2 pick (no mentoring/wouldn't want him mentoring any QB anyhow) for the starting role, which is what I've heard the plan would be.

Spot on. Hopefully this new brass is different than every other brass, but history shows the Browns usually go for a quick fix at QB and play penis flickers in the draft (Delhomme, Dilfer, Garcia, McCown, Seneca Wallace, Jason Campbell, Brian Hoyer) then (McCoy, Weenden, Luke McCown, Frye, Shaw) in the draft.

Goodell is such a power tripping weirdo. Just reinstate him and be done with it.

The union fucked up big time during the last CBA when they basically dropped any of the gripes they had with Goodell in order to not miss a paycheck once the lockout got into August. Hopefully they aren't as dumb the next time around.
