You disagree that he's a physically talent player? That's the argument.DeyDurkie5;1787281 wrote:Gilbert is now a very talented corner? Have we sunk this low?
Also, I'm curious why Rueben Randle's FA market is silent. He's a decent 3rd option on a team I'd think. -

Anyone who won't be part of the 2018 team is completely replaceable for someone cheaper, even if not as good.BR1986FB;1787274 wrote:Just a bunch of fillers to bide the time until they build it up through the draft. They are going out and getting the worst/cheapest FA's available to field a team.
Surprisingly, this doesn't bother me because if they do it right, they will build this team for sustained success. By the time the guys they draft pan out, Roethlisberger & Flacco should be fading and who knows where the Hell Dalton will be, -

Probably, but his development including playing time has been abysmal and he's done himself no favors. Nor did the coaching staff playing penis flickers with the game day roster. As evidenced by bademosi playing over anyone at cb. Just stupid.SportsAndLady;1787305 wrote:Gilbert sucks so many dicks man. -

Not to parse words, which of course means I will. He's a physical talent but not at all a player.Commander of Awesome;1787294 wrote:You disagree that he's a physically talent player? -

Wouldn't QQ to see him see the field more in TC/Preseason and see if he can make more plays like this. Same with Desir. -
BR1986FB
Exactly. This is at least a 3 year process and hopefully Haslam has the patience to stick with this group.Mulva;1787307 wrote:They already said that.

You know if this team goes 1-15 or 0-16, which isn't out of the realm of possibility, dumbass fans will lose their mind. I'm sure I sound like a broken record but I'm expecting, and have braced myself for, more miserable football than we're usually used to. -
BR1986FB
There's no question he has physical talent but you hit the nail on the head with "done himself no favors." Just like Manziel, he wasn't prepared to go out there. When they have to put a scrub like Bademosi out there, you know there's no faith. Now I will give Pettine blame because he was the one who had a hard on for Gilbert & wanted him so badly.Commander of Awesome;1787311 wrote:Probably, but his development including playing time has been abysmal and he's done himself no favors. So one play? I'm sure I can make a case for Bademosi based on one play.Commander of Awesome;1787315 wrote:

Gilbert is a bust and will probably be cut this time next year. -

Probably cut before. No reason to cut him bow though.SportsAndLady;1787334 wrote:So one play? I'm sure I can make a case for Bademosi based on one play.

DeyDurkie5One play makes him a physical talent? What on earth is going on here.

Damn, if that's what you pulled from the conversation...well then I don't even know what to say you other than shut up dumbass and let the adults talk.DeyDurkie5;1787401 wrote:One play makes him a physical talent? What on earth is going on here. -

Actually, over the course of his stay in Cleveland, Bademosi made quite a few nice plays. He should've never been on the field covering people though.SportsAndLady;1787334 wrote:So one play? I'm sure I can make a case for Bademosi based on one play.

There's no question that Gilbert has freakish athleticism. He's just not a good football player. (not directed toward your post) -

Yeah, even the expansion 1999-2000 teams found a way to win a couple of games. I just think they are going to be trotting out lineups that look like they're straight out of "Major League." The new QB will be the only big "draw" to watch them. I feel bad for season ticketholders who will likely sit through 7-8 home losses and some really ugly football.Sonofanump;1787411 wrote:I expect 2-14ish year. -

So far, yup. If Dansby is correct about him turning a corner, and his desire/work ethic increases, it's up the coaching staff to put him in position to use hit physical talents. That's what good teams do.Sonofanump;1787410 wrote:Gilbert:

Gilbert is a bust. He sucks. Not only on the field but mentally as well. He can go fuck himself. But because you say so, we should totally keep him because of one gif! You are so adult like in your arguments!Commander of Awesome;1787404 wrote:Damn, if that's what you pulled from the conversation...well then I don't even know what to say you other than shut up dumbass and let the adults talk. -
BR1986FBRealistically, because Gilbert's under contract, the obvious thing to say would be "keep him around and see if he's moldable." But the fact that he's a lazy fuck, with no work ethic, who still thinks he's good and has had some off the field distractions says "get rid of him." I'd expect that they will want to look at him but I don't think he gets it, nor will he.

They can only hope the fans are capable of understanding that a 2-14 team could be closer to being good in a couple of years than a 6-10 team.BR1986FB;1787414 wrote:Yeah, even the expansion 1999-2000 teams found a way to win a couple of games. That's been my take. If they get the QB, they should be pretty good in about 3 years (maybe sooner).queencitybuckeye;1787430 wrote:They can only hope the fans are capable of understanding that a 2-14 team could be closer to being good in a couple of years than a 6-10 team.
As I've said, I've resigned myself to the fact that we (the fans) are very likely in for some bad football for awhile. This has been a long time coming and well needed. Knee jerk fans will probably lose their shit over how bad they will be but, if done right, it's for the greater good, in the long run. Just going to be a few more years of pain (hopefully).
Kind of an "expect the worst, hope for the best" type of mindset. -

LOL....not every year. I know that coming out of 2007, optimism was high for the team and they laid an egg. Last year, coming off a 7 win season, many thought they'd be better than they were.iclfan2;1787445 wrote:Is this not the mindset every year?
I guess I should've phrased it more like "expect them to suck REALLY bad and any wins will be a surprise/bonus until they get their crap together." -
