2016 Browns Season Thread

Don't we have that guy in McCown? I'm probably alone on this, but I think he didn't do bad when he was healthy last year...especially for what he had throwing to. Actually seemed like he tried to mentor/coach Manziel too.

Agreed on both posts. Kaep isn't a guy to mentor/bridge the gap for a young guy and McCown seems to embrace that role. If they are going to blow it up, go all in and draft your guy at #2 and groom him.

Would you let him start day 1, or sit him behind McCown?

Sit him behind mccown until the season doesn't matter anymore.

Until the new O-Linemen get their feet under them, I wouldn't want a rookie back there. I wouldn't wait 8 games though.

Hue Jackson made Andy Dalton and AJ McCarron look good. Kap is more talented than both. If Hue likes Kap, we should all like Kap.

Literally pointless to talk about. The Browns aren't getting kap. Prob get Fitzpatrick or some bullshit.

If you're going young...then go young. Go all in. Don't sign this guy, then do something dumb like draft a QB at 2, have him "sit and learn", then week 8 when Kaepernick has 12 INT and the media and fans are going nuts, we throw someone else in there. Go young from day one and live with it.
    100% agree. Do not want.

I think Kap is banking on the Browns overpaying for him so it feels like a trap.

Nice, in theory, but McCarron & Dalton had established teams with good defenses backing them. Kaepernick won't probably for a few years.

Up to his progress. If he knows the offense and has developed the ability to make plays at this new level, start him. If it takes him a few weeks to get to that point, so be it. The absolute last consideration would be what the fans want.

Hes not a free agent. So why would he care what the Browns do to get him right now.

He will get traded and the Browns will up his contract. It's pretty standard in the NFL for teams to re-do contracts once a player is traded.

I see Fitzpatrick in Denver. Would be a good fit for them to make a run at the SB again this year while they draft and groom their next QB.

As crazy as this sounds...it would be an upgrade for Denver from last year. They'd be smart to make that happen. You've got to think they're drafting a QB this year.

Yeah, I don't think Fitz ends up here. The Browns already have a Fitzpatrick type (older journeyman veteran) in McCown.

    Officially cut Manziel.

I called this from the moment he was drafted. I knew he was straight garbage from day 1.

Some team may pick him up but there's not a chance in hell he ends up a mainstay in the league.

I highly doubt he get's picked up anytime soon. I think he's done in the NFL.

I could see him catching on in the CFL.

...but....but...he's like a combination of Fran Tarkenton, Warren Moon & Doug Flutie only better! :RpS_glare:
