Makes no sense if they are going to tear apart their O-Line....

    Do you guys want Kaepernick?
  • se-alum
Yea, there's no reason to keep Thomas. They need to trade him like they should've last season. Get a 1st and 2nd rounder out of him, and draft your future LT.

It would make zero sense if the Browns traded for Kaepernick. That would almost say they aren't planning to draft a QB. I'd imagine that won't go over well with the fans.

Kaep seems to be the sort of guy who'd be a horrible fit in Cleveland. His career has shown that he's a passable/decent QB when he has good talent around him (ie: San Fran when Harbaugh had them as a SB contender), but the less talent around him, the more he regressed. Put him on a team with a lot of talent (like Denver, who I've heard rumored to be interested) and I think he could turn his career back around. Put him on Cleveland, who seems to be going all-in on a youth movement and trying to rebuild through the draft and he could easily be a massive disaster.

Hue loves (or at least loved) Kaep. He once said he thought he was the best QB in that draft class.

I'd rather they go with a rookie and groom him.

With all the FA's leaving, there's really no other choice.
with all the losses on the o-line , i would think drafting a qb with the second pick or really anywhere in the first round is out the window. what is the sense in that unless you dont plan on him playing for few years

This is dumb. Why get rid of O-line talent just to trade away draft picks for a mediocre QB?

We couldn't get a 1st and a 2nd last season, what makes you think we can get that now?

The reported deal that was on the table was a 2016 2nd and a 2017 1st.

They won't get anything like that now. I'd be surprised if they got a 2nd now because the Browns aren't masking their intentions of being in full blow up mode.

I don't think we get as good of a deal but no doubt we'd get a 2nd + another draft pick. It really has nothing to do with the Browns intentions but rather the Broncos intentions at the time. The Broncos were willing to overpay to acquire an asset since they were trying to make one last addition to win a championship.

JT is still worth something on the open market. We won't get a first for him, but no doubt we get a 2nd + maybe a 3rd/4th rounder.

Irrelevant. We've sent pretty strong indications we are blowing this team up and rebuilding from the ground up. It's not an unusual strategy in Cleveland; in fact its our primary strategy.

Yesterday was a huge success as far as Jimmy is concerned. Saved a ton of payroll and even held on to Johnny in hopes he can save some more if he can get the NFL to suspend him.

Hold on to JT until a contender has an injury and becomes desperate. No one is going to overpay now, but they could overpay for a left tackle in October.

Apparently you have a shitty memory. After Haslam canned Dumb & Dumber, he said they would be going back to square one and this could take "years." Yeah, nobody wants to hear that shit but don't act like yesterday was some kind of surprise because they didn't pull a New York Giants and spend $200 million.

You have to be in all of your glory because things didn't go smoothly yesterday and you have something new to bitch about with this regime.

Pretty much IQQY in a nutshell. He is never anywhere to be found when things are going well for any Cleveland franchise. He is clearly a troll. I am not sure why anyone takes the time to read his posts let alone respond to them.

Some of these clowns in the national media (NFL Network, ESPN, etc) can go fuck themselves with their stupid tweets piling on the Browns. I can see them scrutinizing them for losing Mack or Schwartz but Johnson Bademosi? Seriously? Half of these talking heads probably don't even know who the guy is. Beat up on them all you want for letting Schwartz walk but friggin' Bademosi?

They want to nitpick at the Browns for even the little shit because of how bad they've been.

Reports that Kaepernick wants to be a Brown. 1) No QB WANTS to be a Brown. 2) DO NOT DO THIS BROWNS! This has regression written all over it. If you're going young...then go young. Go all in. Don't sign this guy, then do something dumb like draft a QB at 2, have him "sit and learn", then week 8 when Kaepernick has 12 INT and the media and fans are going nuts, we throw someone else in there. Go young from day one and live with it.

    This, EXACTLY.

Trading for Kaepernick would be a dumb ass move and COMPLETELY contradictory to what they've done already. Purge two O-Linemen, let their most productive WR (last year walk) and THEN trade for a QB?

Had they kept O-Line protection and a receiving threat to surround him with, this might make some sense but doing it now would be baffling.

Buuuuuuuut it's the Browns...so I 100% think they do it for some reason.

So far Im fine with every move the Browns have made. The agents and old boys club are trying to take advantage of them and they are not budging. They will be the mark for many hit pieces until they prove the system works, but props to them for sticking to their plan. If you can get Kap for cheap and both he wants to be here and Hue wants him here...get him.

I've heard this discussed. Have heard some think they are kind of getting "blackballed" for going outside of the box with this metrics approach and some of the NFL "old guard" isn't down with it.

As a side note, wouldn't it be super exciting for the Browns to land Blaine Gabbert's backup?

Wouldn't be a fan of kaep because we need a "bridge" QB to hand off the position to Wentz/Goff. Kaep isn't that QB.
