I haven't seen enough film on Wentz or Goff but I can tell you this, none of them can be anywhere near as bad as Manziel, Quinn, or Weeden. No clue on manziel. Assuming it has to be something with the rule/law and it's only a matter of time. As for the QB, give me Wentz. Start Mccown. Soon as any shot of a winning record/playoff appearance becomes impossible, throw Wentz in there. -

Heard this morning, on the drive in, that there were 3 teams that sent out "feelers" regarding his availability in a trade. I don't care if they can get a used golf cart for him. But with the number of holes they have, it's no going to happen that quickly, most likely. They might have the worst WR corps in the league and there are question marks at 3 OL positions. That likely won't get fixed in a years. It's possible but not likely. If they have a good QB and want to spend the money, they can fill holes. Stop being so dramatic. Not really sure what that means but whoever said that I disagree with him. I'm not saying sit Wentz for two seasons. But I don't believe he should be thrown to the wolves from day 1. Who's being "dramatic?" Most teams are fortunate if they hit on 30% of their draft picks. I just don't get the feeling that with this Money Ball/metrics approach that FA is going to be their bread & butter. -

I look at it this way, McCown got injured THREE times last year behind that "vaunted" O-Line. That's not including his dumbass helicopter move versus the Jets in week 1 which was his own fault. Not to mention that even if the rookie QB shows promise in their first season, players will still probably look at the Browns with a jaundiced eye and be skeptical about joining. They are going to have to establish a bit of a winning track record before decent FA's will want to come here. Free agency is kind of like icing on the cake. It should be used to fill in a few key positions with impact players, not as the meat & potatoes of the roster. There's where the draft comes in.
Believe me, at one point I thought they could solve problems going the FA route (Bentley, Steinbach, et, etc) but it never seems to equate to sustained success like the draft does. -

I heard they are waiting on Manziel to see if he gets suspended and then they owe him less.
Interesting Schwartz story. Apparently he refused an earlier offer, then when no one was calling yesterday he tried taking the same deal, and the Browns said no, that same deal is off now. Then who knows what ensued. That's what he gets for testing free agency and losing, but I still wish we could have paid him.
With Bitonio back, and pastor having rt experience, and Erving being a true center (can't use his guard experience), I think we will be adequate on the offensive line.

Had they somehow kept Schwartz & Mack, I would've figured JT was safe but, at this stage, what's the point? Sure I'd like to see him retire a Brown but if they are going young, they might as well go all in. A rookie QB will obviously need backside protection but I just don't completely know where this new regime's mindset is. -

That is exactly what I said. I think that we'll see improvement in Erving from year one to year two but having Pasztor out there at RT doesn't give me the warm fuzzies.
