This has nothing to do with radio hot takes. Your brother said Lovie Smith was a failure and I disputed it. Had nothing to do with radio hot takes. If anyone was spewing hot takes, it was your brother.DeyDurkie5;1773874 wrote:I'm dense but the only opinions you put on here are radio hot takes.
The argument is its a team game. One person does not equal the entire team. It takes a team to win a ring. It takes a head coach to guide that team to a ring. Hence why coaches should be graded on rings at the end of the day.
Players PLAY the game. A coach cannot go out on the field and WIN a game. Players are extensions of the coach. If one fails, they ALL fail, as a TEAM. -

You used a random player not associated with lovie on a bad team to counter the point that if coaches don't win a ring, they are failures. It was stupid.BR1986FB;1773879 wrote:This has nothing to do with radio hot takes. Your brother said Lovie Smith was a failure and I disputed it. Had nothing to do with radio hot takes. SportsAndLadyJoe Thomas will be be a first ballot hall of famer, please tell me more about how he's a failure and comparable to Lovie Smith.
Not surprised BR is trying to say JT is a failure lol -

You can insert any player. Dan Marino, who could be argued as the greatest QB of all time (by mostly Fins fans), never won a ring so I guess he failed at his quest too. You've obviously never heard the phrase "a coach is only as good as the talent around him." They're intertwined.DeyDurkie5;1773883 wrote:You used a random player not associated with lovie on a bad team to counter the point that if coaches don't win a ring, they are failures. Just like you claiming you'd do some kind of due diligence versus just drafting a QB at #2 just to draft one (which we ALL know better), I covered my ass with the (as an example since he's the Brown's best player), which your selective reading obviously overlooked. I knew someone would pull out the old "you hate Joe Thomas!!!!!" card.SportsAndLady;1773886 wrote:Joe Thomas will be be a first ballot hall of famer, please tell me more about how he's a failure and comparable to Lovie Smith.

Azubuike24As a fan who doesn't give a shit about the Browns, putting myself in their shoes...give me a completely unknown, high potential, high risk guy over a known commodity.
Hiring Lovie Smith is like hiring Dusty Baker. -

You can do that, but you can't continue to do it every two years.Azubuike24;1773909 wrote:As a fan who doesn't give a shit about the Browns, putting myself in their shoes...give me a completely unknown, high potential, high risk guy over a known commodity.

Commander of AwesomeYeah...count me OUT on the Marrone shitstakes:
-
like_thatI don't get how he is considered a HC candidate. He didn't do shit at Syracuse.
-
DeyDurkie5We aren't hiring marrone. Dude is a bum.
-
SonofanumpI would not want Marrone. I would think McDermont or Patricia could be a winner for some franchise.
-
BR1986FB
Of those three, I'd want Patricia because he's coached for a team that's won a Super Bowl so he's not a failure. My other choices would be Pete Carroll, Bill Belichick, John Harbaugh & Mike McCarthy since they've also won Super Bowls and aren't failures. Screw Mike Tomlin.Sonofanump;1774009 wrote:I would not want Marrone. I would think McDermont or Patricia could be a winner for some franchise. -
lhslep134Not sure I want a member of the Belichick coaching tree.

They don't work out, except Saban in college.lhslep134;1774019 wrote:Not sure I want a member of the Belichick coaching tree.
Note: I'm sure I'm missing another guy or two. -

It's a little early on Bill O'Brien but Al Groh & Kirk Ferentz have had solid runs at the collegiate level.like_that;1774021 wrote:They don't work out, except Saban in college.

wildcats20Joe Thomas named an AP All Pro for 8th straight year.

sleeper
He will get it until he retires. This is how it works in the NFL.wildcats20;1774129 wrote:Joe Thomas named an AP All Pro for 8th straight year. -

In B4 BR comes in to shit on Goathomaswildcats20;1774129 wrote:Joe Thomas named an AP All Pro for 8th straight year. -

Don't need to. Sleeper was spot on. Guys like Ray Lewis & Jonathan Ogden kept getting the award on reputation. Even Thomas' rookie year, when he should've been the Pro Bowl starter, Odgen got the nod over him and I think he (Ogden) only played a half a season at a not so high level.Commander of Awesome;1774132 wrote:In B4 BR comes in to shit on Goathomas
