It's got nothing to do with being mentally weak. You just generally don't put your QB in that situation. Manziel's a distraction, in that case.

To counterpoint the Derek Anderson example, I think a lot of Hoyer shitting down his leg late in the year had to do with the pressure of JFF waiting in the wings. Granted, Hoyer isn't much to speak of but I think he would've done better if that pressure weren't there. And you don't have to tell me about the O-Line issues. I know that was a factor but when the game was in Hoyer's hands in key moments (Indianapolis) he failed miserably.

With all of this being said, I'd keep JFF unless they get a sweet offer. I just understand the angle Laley's coming from.

    I don't disagree.

I'm with laley. If we draft a qb at 2 then that's our guy and Johnny needs to go. There would be no point in keeping him, all it would do is cause a distraction and Johnny will want traded anyways.

Has nothing to do with fans chanting or players being mentally weak. It's just my opinion that when you have 2 QBs, you have none. Cut one, trade one, whatever. Never works out when you have 2 guys who want to, and think, they should start.

Probably the same ones who don't understand the rebuild the Reds are going through and wish they'd hang onto Cueto and Chapman for one more meaningless season only to watch them walk away for nothing afterwards.

Manziel reported to the team’s facility complaining of concussion-like symptoms

You think this kid isn't familiar with what a hangover is? Probably had one about 75% of his time at A&M.

For my purposes....you guys think the Browns had a better chance with Manziel rather than Davis?

Steelers passing defense was among the worst the last I checked

    Better chance with JFF.

They just lost to Ryan Mallett, anything is possible.

I still think Cleveland lays down. They don't want this W and it's a must win for Pittsburgh.

Gonna go to a bar so I can watch Bill/Jets simultaneously. I can't believe it's come to this.:-/

Steelers pass defense is 30th....Browns rush defense is 32nd but last time Pittsburgh didn't even try to run and threw it deep about 20x it seemed.

I think having just been upset (it was an upset but I don't consider it one because the Ravens always play us tight) it's less likely to be upset again in consecutive weeks. Ravens always defend Ben well, whereas Cleveland has some troubles at times especially with Haden not being himself or even playing.

I'm never greatly confident with the Steelers beating teams with poor records because every year they lose to them a couple times.

I'm rooting for the Steelers to win and whatever happens, happens. I will not be rooting for Rex and the Bills. If the Jets win, they win and have earned a spot. Steelers have blown multiple chances. I remember a couple years ago I was in a pub in Maryland hoping the Chiefs would beat the Chargers so my team would make the playoffs. About 5 dumb things happened and Chiefs missed a short FG or two or they would've won.

I won't do that again. I'll be happy if the Steelers win and mad if they lose. Nothing else matters.

I remember that Chiefs game! We needed a lot to happen and it was all coming together and they shanked that FG.

Browns are starting Austin Davis....you guys are winning this one lol.
  • BRF
Pryor as back up QB unless/until some guy is pulled off the scrap heap.

I think most of Cleveland's secondary was out in that game, because talk here was essentially that, barring injuring Roethlisberger, they were going to get shelled through the air because they had no one active who could cover those receivers.

This. JFF was a big reason we were able to get the running game going. Without him I expect running the ball to be next to impossible and Davis +our receiving options aren't scaring anyone. I just hope Browns get to and injure that rapist POS of a QB and make him hurt for the playoffs again.

I thought talk on here was that we were just going to line it up and run against terrible run defense. I recall making a post about not being able to do that.

Outside of last week, he was alright in the passing game.
  • Ironman92
I looked back at BR was saying just line up and run and didn't see anything (in first few pages) about throwing to beat them.

His QB rating 31st in the league tells a different story
  • KnightRyder
People reference running QB's getting hurt as the primary problem, but the reality is a QB needs to be able to produce from the pocket.

    Plain and simple.

If he can run around a bit and make plays, great, but he better be able to throw from the pocket. That is the main reason why Kap found his behind on the bench. His game didnt, at least not yet, evolve to the point where he can hurt ya by throwing from the pocket.

Most believe Cam Newton is a "running" qb but a week or so ago heard that he lead the league in TD passes from the pocket?

When someone mentions 'running' QB it means that running is his best asset, and if running is your best asset as a QB you wont be around for long in the NFL. Sometimes it is an injury, but most times it is because you are not able to throw the ball effectively enough.

Sure, a mobile QB can hurt ya by getting some yards, but if he cannot throw it I will let him run around all day
