I don't find the video of a 22 yr old on a bye week having a good time as embarrassing. Wish Petty Pettine would have his players back and say, "YEah he was having some fun with friends. Why the fuck do you care?"BR1986FB;1765756 wrote:Manziel told the coaching staff he wouldn't "embarrass" them during his time off. Then this video surfaces = Manziel lied.
"Embarrass" is open to interpretation but JFF essentially mooned or pissed in the face of the coaching staff when given an order.
When the coaching staff gives you instructions, you follow them. Blatantly disregarding them means you can't be trusted to follow directions.
It's pretty friggin' simple. Manziel has nobody to blame but Manziel.
You don't play penis flickers with a franchise bc the QB hurt your feelz BR. Look at Rapistfucker, what he did was 100000000000000000000000000000infinityx times worse. The steelers QQ and bench him? lolno. No one gaf. Petty Pettine is pathetic.

It all comes down to production. Johnny has shown multiple times that his substance abuse problems interfere with his production.Commander of Awesome;1765759 wrote:I don't find the video of a 22 yr old on a bye week having a good time as embarrassing. Plus, if Pettine gives Manziel a directive, that he blatantly disregards, what kind of a message does that send to the rest of the team if Pettine lets it slide? Pretty much says "no accountability for anyone" to me. -

That's EXACTLY it. A player can't have insubordination/trust issues with ANY coach.....and quite frankly, I'm surprised he wasn't cut. The only value that JFF has to the organization at this point is to prove that he can be an NFL QB, and if his opportunity to play the final 6 games is now null and void, why is he still on the roster? If they are not going to play him the final 5 games what good is he anymore? The only reason I can think of, is that Haslam wouldn't allow it.....no way Manziel AND Pettine are both back next year.Commander of Awesome;1765702 wrote:Petty pettine strikes again!
In all honestly I think it's that he told Petty to his face that he wasn't going to party, then he did. -

And this may be just a slap on the wrist to teach him a lesson. Your comment about "not cutting him" would make sense in this case.HitsRus;1765763 wrote:That's EXACTLY it. Possible that Manziel starts again before the end of the season. But if they are 3 weeks in and he's not starting, I think there's a good chance that the organization may feel he's not worth the headache moving forward and will just cut ties with him after the season. -
BR1986FBIn the "LOL Department", I didn't hear it but I guess some caller called into a local Cleveland sports talk radio station and broke into tears over Manziel's demotion. Hmmmmm.....
-
HereticIt's up on Deadspin. I haven't listened to it, but from the description, the caller broke into tears while blasting Manziel for being a "drunken bum" who will "never be a Brown", so it probably wasn't Foot.

As the article stated, I'm more embarrassed by 2-8 and pile of shit the Browns have been since '99 than I am of JFF having fun on an off day. -

Because one guy threw out some "pwnage", according to COA? I've agreed with you guys that Pettine has been petty and has a dislike for Manziel but he was right in this case to demote someone for insubordinate behavior. Like I said, creating "Johnny Rules" sends a bad message to the rest of the team. Farmer & Haslam also gave their "blessing" on his demotion, BTW. -

You know NOTHING. Johnny outperformed Namath and Farve in his first year. You people have nary a clue in reading talented players. There are hundreds of thousands of Browns fans that are pissed beyond belief at this. Why? Because the franchise quarterback is rotting away on the bench.Al Bundy;1765715 wrote:All of the guys you listed produced at a high level. Johnny has sucked and not been prepared. The better comparison to Johnny in terms of off the field behavior is Todd Marinovich. He had abuse problems which led to him being out of the league within a couple years. Johnny is on that same path.
Enjoy your boy Josh McClown leading your team. I hope Shaub and company rip Pettine a new anus. -

Lunatic, great spin...you are an imbecile. Manziel played really wel lagainst the Bengals and your Pittspuke Steelers.Heretic;1765724 wrote:Johnny has sucked? Why, if you listen to Footwedge, we're less than two weeks away from a game in which Johnny had one of the best games by a quarterback in Cleveland's past 10 years. In a 30-9 loss where he committed more turnovers than led TD drives. But don't worry...that's because everyone else on the team let him down. -

i don't know of any coach that would put up with that. Belichek sent one of the most popular players in franchise history packing for less. It's not about the partying as much as the insubordination. Given the previous incidents, he was asked/told by his coach not to create any further distractions... He agreed....and then he went out and did it anyway.Big time. I've been a JFF backer all year, but this time, little Johnny f@cknuts really screwed up, and in doing so, screwed Browns fans also. It is to him that your anger should be directed. -

Precisely. I'm sure there were other players for the Browns who went out and partied over the bye week and Pettine probably didn't give a crap about it because they keep a low profile. That's not the case with JFF.HitsRus;1765805 wrote:i don't know of any coach that would put up with that. Belichek sent one of the most popular players in franchise history packing for less. I hate continually using the word "polarizing" but he has that Johnny Football persona so he's going to be in the limelight. Pettine probably also didn't sit down with EVERY player and say "don't do anything to embarrass the franchise" like he had to with JFF. The key is the insubordination. It's not the drinking. -

Let the punishment fit the crime. Bench Johnny for the game on Monday might and put him back out there. He's earned the right by his play on the field to lead the team. The Browns fans deserve watching the kid play this year after the horse shit we've had to put up with s far. Anything more than a 1 game suspension is ridiculous. I don't absolve Manziel for culpability, but again, let the punishment fit the crime.HitsRus;1765805 wrote:i don't know of any coach that would put up with that. And what was Namath's completion percentage? You are in the teeny. tiny minority now in thinking Manziel can't ball in this league. People with half a brain that have seen him play know that he can be all pro some day. I'm going with 0.

And that's what Pettine may do. If he benches him for longer, JFF is probably gone in the offseason. I'm sure Lying Johnny will pull his old Eddie Haskell "sorry Mr Pettine.....I 'promise' I'll never do it again, Mr Pettine" routine and all will be good again. Manziel's very good at saying the right things to the media. He just has a problem "walking the walk" after he says them.Footwedge;1765809 wrote:Let the punishment fit the crime. First of all, I sincerely doubt that Belichek would have told Manziel not to party on his week off. He didn't have a problem with Gronkowski. The difference between Pettine and Bellichick is that Johnny would have started this year from day one because Bill knows how to read talent. Pettine cut Dion Lewis...Belichick played him and he was headed to the Pro Bowl.HitsRus;1765805 wrote:i don't know of any coach that would put up with that. The problem with your comparison is that Gronk is a FUCKING STUD that performs week in and week out. Manziel isn't. Why do you think guys like Roethlisberger can go a rapin' and regain their starting jobs the next week? Because they are PROVEN talents. Manziel isn't. Belichick would've been like "Johnny who?" and wouldn't have given a shit.Footwedge;1765815 wrote:First of all, I sincerely doubt that Belichek would have told Manziel not to party on his week off. If Pettine wants to keep his job...and there's a very slim chance that he will, he needs to play the quarterback that far and away gives him the best chance to win.
