Week 8: Do We Have to Watch? Browns vs Cardinals

  • Commander of Awesome
Fuck this team. We lose by 20.

Probably but the owner will make more money and rich players that (most) don't deserve their contracts will still get paid.

Should have a few players back (Haden, maybe Gipson) but my expectations are low. Assuming Manziel starts, I don't expect him to have nearly as good of an outcome as he did against Tennessee.

I want to see if having Johnny back there makes any difference in line play.

The line has been bad, but I swear McCown holds the ball forever and a day and that is making them look worse than they really are at times.

Be decisive and get rid of the ball.

Also want to see if he can get a vertical passing game going which might open up some room for the running game.

Most of what we do with McCown is all short stuff and teams are just sitting on that and it is keeping the box full. If he could bust a few deep ones it might loosen up some of the congestion up front which would also help the running game.

I am also done with the Crow at this point. Put him out to pasture. Give Turbin (who I don't love either) the carries and then use Duke on 3rd down out of the backfield.

Johnny also has to make an effort to keep Barnidge involved in the offense, as finding TE's has not been his strong suit. He is too good a receiver for us to slip back into obscurity.

Might as well forget that. The only guy he looks at is Benjamin.

How will the little teeny tiny GF beating drunk see over the line to complete anything more than 5 yds downfield?

OK you can ban me now you worthless POS Mod. At least have the balls to claim it.
  • IggyPride00
Saw the tweets from Pettine's presser and the guy just doesn't get it.

It's a shame because part of me thinks he could be an OK coach, but he has a level of stubbornness and arrogance the likes of which I have rarely seen from someone who has accomplished as little as he has.

As long as Pettine keeps O'Neil on his staff, I have no hope that he'll ever become an "ok coach."

    .
Didn't have a problem doing it against the Titans now did he? Alkies have short memories.
  • HitsRus
Mrs Hits and I have tix, but we have about had it driving an hour into town to watch inferior football and pay $10 a beer and eat overpriced mediocre food.
We will go for sure if JFF starts... Not that we are expecting much, but at least it's a hope for the future...(as opposed to watching a 36 year old QB lead us to another pathetic loss.

As if the run defense didn't have enough problems we had yet another personnel issue with too many men or not enough on the field before the Gurley TD run.

Jim O'Neil has no business being on an NFL sideline right now in any capacity. It almost feels like Pettine is punking us right now.

Doesn't seem to matter how bad or how incompetent the guy is, Pettine blames the players for not running what he believes to be a perfect system. Tells us every week there aren't going to be changes.

Our 2 wins are against the 2 worst teams in the league (Tennessee 1-5, Baltimore 1-6).

This is like a replay of last year, where more than half of our wins came against the worst 4 teams in the league record wise.

Only difference is this year the schedule isn't littered with nearly as many bad teams to puff up the schedule.

Arizona is freaking tough. Next week is going to be a bear, even on a short week for them.

You mean the two hail marry passes that Manziel completed against Tennessee won't happen every week? I agree I expect nothing from him and this team is a mess.

Part of the reason for my 3-13 prediction prior to the season. Things change from year to year, but I knew they wouldn't have a cakewalk schedule (NFC/AFC South) like they did last year. They feasted on scrub teams last season and actually overachieved, in my eyes.

I think we lose and someone gets fired.

You don't know what a hail Mary pass is dufus. Pettine won't play Johnny because he's afraid he will win. Which means he will take a shit load of heat for starting the guy who is 2-15 over his last 17 games.

OI effin C do we have a head coach who is so unbelievably inept in player evaluation.
  • BR1986FB
If Pettine were ever going to start Manziel, this would be the week to do so. The Browns aren't going to throw on AZ's secondary. The Cardinals are an aggressive blitzing team, which should open up the run. Pettine needs to commit to ONE back and run the damn ball. Manziel can open things up with his legs. He likely wouldn't do shit through the air but I think they can run on Arizona's defense.

They also need to keep AZ's offense off the field so as much clock as they can eat, the better.
  • IggyPride00
Saw an article where Pettine said if Josh can physically go he is starting this week.

Good to know. I was concerned we were going to waste the opportunity to go 3-13 with our 36 year old journeyman QB who is 2-15 in his last 17 starts over 2 years.

Playing young guys to see what you have while the games are at least still a little relevant (as opposed to the last 2-3 weeks of the year when you're 2-12) is overrated.

God love Mike Pettine. No big changes and no one is panicking, because things have been going so well thus far that it makes total sense to double down on more of the same.
  • BRF
Beacon Journal on line report says McCown is slated to start.
  • Azubuike24
Sounds like Sammy Watkins could be available on the cheap. Do the Browns inquire?
  • Lovejoy1984
    They should.....but they won't.
  • Azubuike24
I'm pretty convinced Watkins is a ***** who in the end, isn't going to be a positive guy in the clubhouse. He's got talent, but compare him to a guy like Amari Cooper and there's just no comparison. You would think the Bills kind of see the same thing, considering how they use him and now his attitude. Maybe a 4th or 5th rounder could snag him.
  • Automatik
    Where are you seeing this?

After his comments about being injured? I highly doubt they deal the #4 pick for "cheap."
