That's exactly where I am right now.By no means am I all about Manziel, but there's no fucking way an injured McCown is better than anyone. A fucking healthy McCown isn't!
I don't think Johnny is the answer long term most likely, but for the love of God we blew a 1st round pick on him....at least play him.
The guy has started 3 games, and won 1. At least give him the rest of the season to see what he can do on a week in week out basis when he knows he is starting.
He did look like he has actually improved early in the season, but we are never going to see any more progression with his ass stapled to the bench.
The season is a lost cause. Start playing all the young guys, that includes Gilbert on D and Erving on offense. -
Lovejoy1984I think after the Bengals game (barring a win) we see Johnny. This definitely isn't the week to make the switch, due to it being a short week, and no real practice time, won't be able to get enough reps.

Fuck that. Just play the fucking guy.HighRoller74;1760316 wrote:I think after the Bengals game (barring a win) we see Johnny. This definitely isn't the week to make the switch, due to it being a short week, and no real practice time, won't be able to get enough reps.
No one wants to see McCown anymore. -
iclfan2Putting Manziel and Bowe in at the end was weird. Like he was sending a middle finger to Farmer.
-
HitsRusMcCown, true to form, heaves an interception at a critical time in the 4th Qtr.
If the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over, and expecting different results, then Mike Pettine is truly insane.
Once again the Browns were outcoached. Once again, poor clock management at the end of the half.
What the hell were they doing in the locker room at half time...celebrating that they had the lead? The team comes out flat both offensively and defensively to start the second half.
Why did he continue to play a hurt McCown that was leading the team nowhere in the second half.
Mike Pettine is clearly in over his head. -
Lovejoy1984
Oh I agree. But, putting him out there on a short week, is setting him up for failure, IMO.SportsAndLady;1760324 wrote:Fuck that. Just play the fucking guy.

I'd have made the switch this week, and went with Manziel for the rest of the year, just afraid if they toss him out there with next to 0 live practice reps with the ones, that Thursday night will be a trainwreck. -

If manziel can't go out there and play well on a short week, he's probably not going to last in the NFL.HighRoller74;1760332 wrote:Oh I agree. But, putting him out there on a short week, is setting him up for failure, IMO.

Fuck the "short week" stuff. Just bench mccown and go with manziel already. I want to see if he's any good. -
Ironman92Mindless to not have used Manziel

That's exactly what it was. Farmer's arrogance has created a complete disconnect between the coaching staff and him. It started a while ago. Heck, Shanahan had a notebook filled with issues relating to Farmer. Farmer didn't want to let him out of his contract and Shanahan told Haslam he was going public with the issues he'd documented unless they agreed to terminate the contract.iclfan2;1760325 wrote:Putting Manziel and Bowe in at the end was weird. Pettine hates Farmer and it's no secret in Berea. One of them has to go. If it's Farmer then a new GM will eventually put his own HC in place and the cycle will start all over again. -
Con_AlmaIN the beginning of the season I said the long-term QB for this team is not on the roster. I still stand by that.

They are both going to go at the end of the season. The piss poor play has pretty much put that one on lock.Con_Alma;1760339 wrote:That's exactly what it was. Both Farmer and Pettine have a level of arrogance and entitlement that is simply breath taking for a pair of guys who have accomplished as little in their careers as they have.
I would be shocked if either guy even sniffs the level of job they have now anytime in the future. The book is out on these 2, as well as Pettine's butt boy Jim O'Neil, who might have a hard time landing a job as a high school gym teacher with the level of ineptitude he's shown. -

FootwedgePettine should be fired tomorrow. He has proven time and time again that he has no clue on clock management. A sixth grader could figure it out better. Secondly, he continues to undermine Farmer at every opportunity in not playing Bowe, Orchard, Irving, and most importantly Manziel. He cut Terrell Prior in order to hoodwink Farmer into bringing in Turbin, a perennial bum, All the while he cut Dion Lewis who is having a pro bowl season. Paul Kruger is getting run out of town because Pettine is now playing him as a cover backer instead of a pass rusher. And on and on and on the beat goes. His defense had been God awful for both seasons and nobody wants to play for him,
Today, McCown was on his knees for 10 seconds after getting steam rolled for the 10th time, Everybody watching the game knew that it was Johnny time...except cueball.
How Haslam/Farmer can put up with that shit for even 1 more day is mind boggling.
Bud Carson was the last Browns coach to be fired mid season and Carson's sins were nowhere near the level as this buffoon. -

I was thinking of skipping it and starting off season thread. This season is over, DGAF about this season anymore. Debating not watching another snap this season.friendfromlowry;1760363 wrote:Who is starting the game thread for Thursday's game? -

In the same boat. Just when I thought they couldn't get any more inept, they surprise me again. At this point, I'm pretty much numb to their buffoonery on and off the field. It's pretty damn close to apathy.Commander of Awesome;1760412 wrote:I was thinking of skipping it and starting off season thread. This season is over, DGAF about this season anymore. jmogI have been sick for most of the last week. After church on Sunday I came home, started watching the Browns and fell asleep 3 minutes into the game.
I woke up at half and thought "wow, they actually didn't suck!".
I watched the 2nd half and thought "huh, just as terrible as I thought".
So, I slept through the only watchable part of the game...fan fail on my part.
This team is a steaming pile of cow dung. -
HitsRusThey'll can him on the bye week. I hope.
-
Al BundyI'm not a Pettine fan, but I don't really see the benefit of firing him and naming someone else on the staff as interim the rest of the way.

What you're really saying is it's all your fault they lost. Should have just kept sleeping.jmog;1760425 wrote:I have been sick for most of the last week. After church on Sunday I came home, started watching the Browns and fell asleep 3 minutes into the game.

Lovejoy1984Supposedly the Broncos have offered the Browns a 1st round pick for Joe Thomas.
