    Agreed. TT had the "perfect storm" where his buddy (LBJ) returned and a few key big men (Love/AV) got injured and he balled out. In any normal year we're not talking this kind of money for him. He will get overpaid.

    Anybody see the media stuff today?

    Lebron went back for even more hair plugs this off-season. Why is the dude so insecure? He and Michael Reghi could team up for a hell of a sponsorship deal on ESPN 850.
  • Automatik
    Not sure what's worse, the media mentioning LeBron's hair plugs (if that even happened today) or you being butthurt over it?

    Who gives a fuck?
  • Midstate01
    I don't see how that means he's insecure. Maybe he just wants to have hair. I think it's silly, but doubt very seriously that lbj is insecure.

    Isn't the deadline for TT to sign today? He can go fuck himself if he holds out.

    That is correct regarding his tender, he has until midnight.

    If he doesn't sign today, doesn't mean he's holding out. He actually looses almost all leverage by not signing (not that he had any to begin with).

    I think the Cavs are fine without TT. Obviously having him would be a nice piece but its not the end of the world if he doesn't come back.

    Cavs still have a solid core of Lebron, Love, and Irving. They also have Mozgov, AV, Shump, and JR off the bench. That team can win a championship. TT would have had limited minutes anyway if Love was healthy.

    TT doesn't really have anywhere to go either. No one is going to offer him a max deal this year and next year I doubt he gets a max deal either. Cavs are offering a couple million more a year than any other team and they are offering the extra year.

    In other words, TT playing with fire here.
  • BR1986FB
    Agree with both of sleeper's last statements. Right now, TT is a "luxury."

    With the talent they have, I think they can ride the storm and pace these big men (Varejao, Love, Moz), giving them enough rest, so they might be able to dodge injury.

    TT stepped up when he had to and thinks he should get paid. Newsflash....if the guys I mentioned stay healthy, TT's role goes from "playoff defensive specialist" to "role player" and I don't see many teams offering max deals next year for role players.

    He's taking a $73 million gamble (this year, I'm sure he gets more than $7m/yr next year) which I think he's probably going to lose. He should pay attention to what happened to JR Smith (obviously different type players) when he tested the market, thinking he was worth more than he was.

    With all of this being said, I think TT will eventually cave and take the 5/$80 million.

    Even if TT signs a max deal with another team, it will be LESS than the $$$ he was wanting to get here bc of bird rights. lol QQ TT QQ lol

    I think Henson's deal is a pretty good indication of Thompson's true value. He has no leverage left.
  • Sonofanump
    Thompson can't see that his value will go down the second Verajao steps on the court?

    TT is a better player than Henson, but I agree with you in spirit. TT isn't worth the $80M/5 year offer the Cavs gave him; the Cavs are being extremely generous in my opinion. He's probably worth around $13M a year which puts him at $65M/5 years.

    For comparison, career stats for both players(both 24, TT with 1 more year NBA experience).

    Henson = 8.1 ppg, 5.5 rpg, 1.0 apg, 1.5 bpg, 53.1% FG, 53.7% FT.
    Thompson = 10.1 ppg, 8.4 rpg, 0.8 apg, 0.7 bpg, 48.8% FG, 63.3% FT.

    Henson at ~$11M a year is well priced especially at the new TV deal. TT is being an asshole by going for $18.8M a year.

    There's apparently tumors out there saying AI and the cavs have discussed his "comeback" at age 40. That's what my friend texted me. Looking it up now and I don't really see anything of substance.

    I'd play Delly with 1 leg over AI.

    There's something out there that John Kasich said the Cavs should sign A.I, not that any of the sides have discussed a comeback.

    lol TT, like many have pointed out he doesn't have leverage. Never did. Teams aren't breaking down his door to sign him to a max either. Get in line TT.

    Thanks for posting that, really interesting to read.

    At this point I really don't care that much if we get TT. Yes, all things equal, I'd like him back but the way he's handled this situation has turned me off entirely as a fan.

    The reality is, TT is a nice piece, but with Love, Bron, and Irving he's a luxury not a necessity.

    Let me preface this by saying yes I know it's pre-season and it's bad basketball. But has anyone else watched? That Cunningham guy looks pretty good. Any chance he gets a roster spot over Joe Harris? He's a better shooter, finisher, and defender than Harris is....by far.

    Sounds like he's the favorite, according to this article...
