I disagree. I don't think Thompson is that important. He got extra minutes he wouldn't have gotten because of the injuries to Love and Varejao and that gave him a false indicator of value. I think TT is a good piece and all things equal I want him back, but he's not that important.Dr. KnOiTaLL;1747986 wrote:This is a lose/lose situation. If Gilbert opens the checkbook to meet his demands, he's setting a precedent for other players to follow. If Thompson will truly ONLY accept the max, and Gilbert refuses, we lose a key piece of our team. To say Thompson isn't important is foolish. He single-handedly owned the offensive glass in the playoffs. However, he's obviously not even close to being worth that money, and I don't think there's ANY way that we can give in to his demands. Disappointing, nonetheless. -

You're insane if you think Varejao can stay healthy.Footwedge;1748029 wrote:Andy is just as good as TT if healthy. TT can go suck a big one. -

Ideally, TT re-signs and we cut or trade Varejao. Varejao sucks in my opinion. He's a poor man's TT and TT is a poor's man starting PF.Dr. KnOiTaLL;1748037 wrote:You're insane if you think Varejao can stay healthy. -
Midstate01Why cut him? You'd have to pay him to cut him, so might as well use him.
-
ernest_t_bassI'm dumbfounded at TT right now.

He's an idiot. I hope the Cavs stick their ground and if necessary, let him walk next year.ernest_t_bass;1751525 wrote:I'm dumbfounded at TT right now. -

Screw 'em. Make him take the qualifying offer and let him test FA next year. Or tell him to go out and get an offer to set the market. The Cavs have held firm at an offer of five years and $80 million, with Thompson looking for a max contract of $94 million over the same span, sources said. The talks have been at a virtual standstill since early July, and there isn't much optimism on either side. -

Even next season, we hold the leverage as we can offer more than any other team. His agent is being an idiot. So far in the history of the NBA, Greg Monroe is the only player to ever take qualifying offer and sign a max deal the following yr. Good luck TT.sleeper;1752190 wrote:http://espn.go.com/nba/story/_/id/13709587/tristan-thompson-cleveland-cavaliers-millions-apart-start-training-camp-approaches

This sounded encouraging at least. Not assuming "ready for camp" means 100%, but sounds like Kyrie will be ready before January like last reported. -

Yeah, I didn't really buy into the January report. I think we see Kyrie at the beginning of December, maybe late November.Benny The Jet;1752595 wrote:http://www.cleveland.com/cavs/index.ssf/2015/09/kyrie_irving_kevin_love_timofe.html

Benny The JetAny chance we see the 2 week off that Lebron did last year become a yearly thing? Where he (or any of the 3) take a couple weeks off to recharge? Clearly, they all are aware that they just need to be in that top 8, seeding doesn't mean much to them.

I don't know about two weeks, but I think we will definitely see scheduled rest days. Sort of like Popovich does with his old guys.Benny The Jet;1752684 wrote:Any chance we see the 2 week off that Lebron did last year become a yearly thing? Benny The JetSaw a pretty interesting poll on the RCF board the other day...
It asked what former Cavs player would you most want on this current team? My answer was Mark Price, but I think having Ricky Davis on this team would be a hilarious disaster. I can remember Ricky's quote about Lebron when he first came into the league "I thought Lebron Jame was going to be another addition to help me score" haha -

I'd suggest January 11-16 to rest the big three.Benny The Jet;1752684 wrote:Any chance we see the 2 week off that Lebron did last year become a yearly thing? lhslep134Cavs sign Austin Daye to a one year contract. That is the type of low risk, higher upside signing I like. Even if he contributes nothing, he's a versatile project that at least still has potential.
