Browns Thread for Iggy Only

BR1986FBDoesn't matter that they have no playmakers. There's no QB on the roster who can get them the ball anyway. Might as well load up the O-Line & defense and draft the QB high next year.
Oh, and nice to see you "borrowed" my Mangini comment from the other thread. -

Don't flatter yourself, I haven't read that thread since last night because of the hassle involved in doing so.BR1986FB;1725900 wrote:Doesn't matter that they have no playmakers. The second we drafted Erving I had visions of Mangini, because we are the only team in the NFL constantly burning 1st round picks on centers. In our case its even worse because we are losing Mack at the end of the year because we were so cheap and disrespectful to him (as we are doing to Gipson now) that these guys can't wait to high tail it out of here. -
IggyPride00I am going to LOL at Farmer when this team is unwatchable every week and struggles to a 6-10/5-11 record next year while regressing.
The guy thinks its 1965 and 3 yards and a cloud of dust.
He has a phobia about scoring points as a means of winning games. His hatred of WR's is bizarre, and it's like he'd rather get fired because the team isn't winning than break down and draft one.
People have a hard on right now about "we're improving the lines" and all, but when our record takes a step back people will get the picture that the guys is not cut out to be a GM.
You can't handcuff yourself by putting a team on the field that is incapable of scoring points.
I know he is a total fraud, but can't wait until all his and Pettine's big uglies translate into a regression in wins so everyone else can see it as well. -
IggyPride00Farmer reminds me of Chris Grant.
So thoroughly convinced he is smarter than everyone else in the league that his arrogance becomes his downfall.
The rest of the league has moved into the 21st century and adapted to the passing league, and our guy is reading out of a 1950's playbook.
Running the ball and playing lots of 10-7 games is a recipe for a 4-12 year.
It doesn't have to be this way, but Farmer's ego is making Joe Banner look humble and that is really freaking saying something. -
hangonsloopyThis is the best thread ever. Iggy would bitch if Farmer traded McCown for Aaron Rodgers. Keep it up though. I love reading it when I need a laugh!

Can't win football games without an o-line. One of the reasons Johnny had a rough start is that he had no running game and no ass protection. Greco, Schwartz and the third meathead that was put in when Mack went down were atrocious.IggyPride00;1726245 wrote:Farmer reminds me of Chris Grant.

This season, they have 4 potential Pro Bowlers up front. They need one more. Drafts are always crap shoots and no one knows for sure if it was good or bad. Time will tell. With that said, this team needed to be purged and that's what Farmer did. -
thavoiceDidnt want to harp on this on the real browns thread but man.....why did they wait so long to get wide receivers? I can see not getting a QB as most believe only two are really NFL ready but there were a number of very talented WR's they should have jumped on before they got the one they selected.
Will see how it turns out but it just seems odd. Steelers and Ravens both picked up WRs to help out their offenses, along with addressing team needs, before the browns picked one....and they needed one in the worst way. -

Without a qb, it really doesn't matter who is at receiver.thavoice;1726534 wrote:Didnt want to harp on this on the real browns thread but man.....why did they wait so long to get wide receivers? The teams that you cited in your second paragraph have QB's, as Al Bundy said, the Browns don't. They are building a team so when that QB comes along, they can just plug him in. They can get that "burner" WR when they know they have a reliable QB to get them the ball.thavoice;1726534 wrote:Didnt want to harp on this on the real browns thread but man.....why did they wait so long to get wide receivers? So they want to try and get a top flight WR AND a top flight QB in the same year/draft?BR1986FB;1726538 wrote:The teams that you cited in your second paragraph have QB's, as Al Bundy said, the Browns don't. Seems like getting a good WR earlier would help the offense no matter the qb, especially when Gordon is suspended and since Cameron has had 3-4 concussions. -
BR1986FB
Because if you get a diva WR, with a shitty QB that can't get him the ball (see Cleveland), you're going to have an unhappy diva WR. That's not a reason to not take a WR but a receiver, with what this team is looking to do, is senseless at this point.thavoice;1726540 wrote:So they want to try and get a top flight WR AND a top flight QB in the same year/draft?

Top flight QB will make stars out of WR's with only Above average skills.thavoice;1726540 wrote:So they want to try and get a top flight WR AND a top flight QB in the same year/draft?

But top flight QB's are tough to find.
A very good WR can make average QBs look much better than they are. Look at the bengals when AJ Green is healthy..he makes Dalton look good.
I dont know, just figured the browns would go after WRs much earlier than they did. Cannot fault not getting a QB this year. -
BR1986FB
This year's offense will probably look like Hoyer 2.0 with hopefully a better defense & running game. They will ask McCown not to make mistakes. He may not win games, with his arm, but they definitely won't want him to lose them.thavoice;1726566 wrote:True.

So...you are guessing a better team this year and 10 wins is what ya predict?!?!?!????BR1986FB;1726574 wrote:This year's offense will probably look like Hoyer 2.0 with hopefully a better defense & running game. I know....much more brutal schedule this year. Division winner and if lucky 1 WC team from the division. -
IggyPride00The Browns are screwed.
They will win 5-6 games and not be picking in the top 1-3 to get the best QB's, but now they have no second first round pick to package to try and get up.
We will hear the exact same rationalizations as we did this draft in which it is too expensive to move up and get the QB, so we will just build up around the position again knowing we still don't have a long term answer.
Farmer still won't want to draft a WR because he won't feel we have anyone at QB to get them the ball, and we will go into yet another season unable to score points.
If this team struggles to 4-5 wins this season and the offense looks as bad as many suspect it might jobs might be lost because it was entirely foreseeable how big a problem scoring points would be and Farmer gave a big middle finger to the fan base and told everyone he can win without scoring.
Actions have consequences, and if solid lines and defense leads to 5-6 wins no one is going to be interested in seeing any more of Ray Farmer and his ridiculous ideas. -
Midstate01I think they're doing the right thing. Build those two lines up now. Get your qb in next year's loaded draft. They aren't winning 6 games next year with what they had anyway, so I like the idea of building two really good lines and trying to win in the trenches to build for next year.
-
FootwedgeBrowns receivers are not as bad as people make them out to be. Last year, when Mack was healthy and the pass protection was good, I saw receivers running wide open all over the place. They ranked really good on dropped passes too...until Manziel started, then they dropped everything for some reason.

I agree. Can't win without a great offensive line.Midstate01;1726711 wrote:I think they're doing the right thing. Build those two lines up now. Get your qb in next year's loaded draft. For once we agree on something, at least partially. I don't think the Browns WR's are nearly as bad as people want to make them out to be. People look at the roster and see there's no elite deep threat and think the WR corps is total shit. For what this coaching staff wants to do (run the ball/play defense/short possession receiver type targets), what they have on the roster is more than adequate.Footwedge;1726714 wrote:Browns receivers are not as bad as people make them out to be. There's more than one way to knock out your opponent. Some teams (Pittsburgh, Indy, Green Bay, etc) have the ability to kill you with the quick strike. The Browns are looking to knock out their opponent with a slow death (run, run, run, ioccasional pass). -
IggyPride00We traded for a better punter yesterday.
Tells you all you need to know about what this team expects from the offense this season.
Pettine and Farmer better start updating their resumes now because when this team goes 5-11 they will be looking for new jobs. -
BR1986FB
Who the F#CK cares? It's OTA's, the season is THREE months away....the Cavs are playing for a CHAMPIONSHIP and you're talking about a PUNTER? Like COA said on the Cavs thread..."some people have way too much free time on their hands."IggyPride00;1732889 wrote:We traded for a better punter yesterday.

We call that waving the white flag. The organization clearly has no confidence in itself to improve the offense so they just admit defeat and load up at punter. They are a bunch of quitters from top to bottom and the sooner the city is rid of that Pettine/Farmer stench the better.Pretty sad when your only pro-bowl pick up in the off season either via trade or FA, is a punter...
