BR1986FBLOL....Haslam is making the call on whether they spend or not. Farmer has nothing to do with that.

He needs to leave then and publicly shame Haslam if the hand cuffs being placed on him are as onerous as they appear.
Either Haslam is such a cheapskate he makes the Brown and Bidwell family's jealous or Farmer is beyond incompetent. -

Marshall has talent, but he is crazy. He creates many problems within the locker room.IggyPride00;1710519 wrote:We are and have been so far under the cap that we are in danger of having to write a check just to reach that 89% spending level soon from the new CBA.
If Farmer sits out free agency for anything but odds and ends pieces then he should either leave for being incompetent, or call Jimmy out for being too cheap to adequately spend so we can have a viable NFL team.
I am tired of the status quo where we just do a whole lot of nothing. We don't spend and we don't draft well.
I saw the Browns were interested in Marshall, but a 5th rounder was too much for a receiver with a $7 million dollar cap hit and happens to be a pro bowler. I guess we are so deep at the position and our cap position is so tight that it wasn't a flyer we could consider taking.
Our GM is physically allergic to the position and I don't see how we can ever be a viable NFL team with him in charge. -

thavoiceThe browns do need to spend some $$ though. They clock is ticking on the salary basement. Suh is visiting the raiders and you know they will throw the cash. Could he do for the browns what REggie White did for Green Bay? Now, This little known guy named Brett Favre came to them in a trade about that same time but RW was a big splash they needed.

BR1986FB
They do need to spend but I've heard Suh's pricecould be around $27 mill/yr? You don't spend that kind of money unless the last name is Brady, Manning or Rodgers, in their primes.thavoice;1710530 wrote:The browns do need to spend some $$ though. Not even sure those guys in their primes would be worth that much as it would wreck the cap. They would have a great QB but very little to spread around -

Yeah, talk about handcuffing a franchise.thavoice;1710540 wrote:That is fucking insane.

Luckily the raiders would be dumb enough to do something like that.BR1986FB;1710548 wrote:Yeah, talk about handcuffing a franchise. -
Laley23Suh will be around $20M a year. No way he sniffs $27M.

My bad then. I had read somewhere it was expected that he'd come in around $27M.Laley23;1710559 wrote:Suh will be around $20M a year. No way he sniffs $27M. -

that is even overpaying.Laley23;1710559 wrote:Suh will be around $20M a year. No way he sniffs $27M.
No way a DT should be making more than the elite QB's -

I believe that is what the Lions would have had to pay him if they franchised him. No one else is going to pay him anything close to that, like Laley said he'll get around 20M.BR1986FB;1710562 wrote:My bad then. I had read somewhere it was expected that he'd come in around $27M. -

To franchise a guy you must pay either the avg of the top 5 at that position, or 120 % of the players previous year salary, whichever is more. When they redid his deal his number toward the cap was 22 million. Had no idea it was that much......Still too much for a DT. -
IggyPride00Nice to see Farmer sitting on his hands at the start of free agency.
Buster is gone apparently as it is being reported 8 teams are interested in him and the Browns don't want to pay to keep him.
I thought this team was building through the draft and then would spend money on keeping guys they drafted.
This is what happens when you hire a dumpster fire to run your team and pair him with the single cheapest owner in professional sports.
Biggest bill of goods ever sold to any fan base anywhere. I thought when Haslam bought the team he was supposed to be a big spending billionaire with deep pockets that would bring the team back to respectability.
Instead he is nothing but a con man who has sold off the naming rights to everything not nailed down while putting all the money into his pocket instead of the product on the field as we continue to be near the top of the standings in unused cap space year after year.
If we didn't have bad luck we'd have no luck. -
IggyPride00Philly area stations reported Sanchez and Maclin going back to Philly.
Farmer is a tremendous POS who has no business being an NFL GM.
We will end up signing no free agents most likely until anyone worth signing is gone, and then we will lose all of ours while replacing them with more undrafted free agents that are nice and cheap like Jimmy likes.
I feel like Haslam and the Dolan family at this point are in a race to the bottom over who can be thriftiest with a buck. It is disgusting. -
IggyPride00Grossi thinks the NFL might be ready to hand down a punishment as soon as tomorrow for Text gate.
Hopefully it is a long suspension starting immediately for Farmer. It would be the best thing that could happen to the team, as maybe someone interested in really doing the job would step in.
Hughes is also about to go back to Buffalo, so yet another target is off the board. That will be a common refrain under the Farmer regime. -
IggyPride00
Completely embarrassing and shameful.Chris Mortensen ‏ @ mortreport 11s 12 seconds ago The Chiefs will have to clear salary cap space to get the deal done with Maclin. Most logical savings would be with Dwayne Bowe's contract.
KC has to clear cap room to make a deal work, and we have like $50 million worth of room and can't make shit happen.
There needs to be some accountability for these continued failings. It is grotesque and unbecoming. -
IggyPride00Someone on the OBR just asked if the Browns were making offers in Confederate money.
That is the point we have gotten to and how high the failure level is right now.
Single biggest joke organization in all of professional sports, and that is a pretty high freaking bar to clear. -
IggyPride00I see Browns fans calling for us to kick the tires on Bowe once he gets cut by KC.
He would fit right in here. All washed up and didn't score a single touchdown last year. That is exactly the kind of dynamic WR we need to pair with our 35 year old QB coming off a 1-10 season as a starter for the worst team in the NFL.
Good thing we are saving all that cap room. -
IggyPride00Farmer should literally consider wearing a ski mask to the bank to cash the pittance of a check Jimmy pays him because he is just downright stealing it at this point.

I think we should just all not post on this thread anymore and let him break Darby's record of like 56 straight posts in a thread.BR1986FB;1711119 wrote:I feel like I'm looking at the Drarby Yankees game thread. Talking to yourself in multiple posts. LOL -
IggyPride00Any jobs lost yet? Any accountability for the on-going incompetence?
I love that our GM's mentality is like that of a team coming off a SB championship. We don't need to improve, we can afford to lose free agents and everything will be just fine.
Farmer might be the single biggest dissapointment in the history of Cleveland sports. I thought being rid of Joe Banner would lift the dark cloud that hung over Berea.
Instead Farmer has unleashed a torrent of rain and darkness from that cloud the likes of which may never be lifted.
The guy is a fucking bum and it is sad we have to put up with him and there is nothing we can do about it because our owner is one step short of pan handling on the streets for stray nickels and dimes he is so tight with a dollar. -
