iclfan2I love the safe picks. Tired of projects and guys with "upside".

I have advocated many times on here to build from the inside out. I actually think our WR corp is good enough right now, though I think we should draft one if the value is right. Would love for Maxx Williams to fall to us.Commander of Awesome;1725864 wrote:What have I been saying? Stop the run. Run the ball. -
BR1986FBI guess that since the picks weren't "sexy" the guys who pick the "winners" and "losers" from the first round didn't like the Browns choices. I thought they were very solid, not spectacular. Should've done something like this last year.

Pick6Like the picks. Two safe picks that you know can contribute right away. Would like to see them go Williams/WR in round 2.
PS- Don't tell sleeper who the Patriots selected. -

Both the Pats & Steelers got HUGE value with where their players fell to.Pick6;1725892 wrote: PS- Don't tell sleeper who the Patriots selected. -

Agreed. Dupree at 22? That's a steal. -

Saw him projected at 6 or 7 in quite a few mocks.ZWICK 4 PREZ;1725899 wrote:Agreed. Dupree at 22? That's a steal. -
se-alumI would also take Gregory if he falls to us.

WR like Nelson Agular in the 2nd
If we trade both 1st for MM then I want Carl Davis in the 2nd.
If we must go wr I hope it's not for Parker/Perriman. Then get best NT left at 19, then Tomlinson (pwn guard) in the 2nd.
Go Browns!
Nailed it. -

I'd be fine with this. I'm surprised that Goldman is also still available. I also like the ILB from Miami.se-alum;1725906 wrote:I would also take Gregory if he falls to us. -

Whole lotta butt hurt in this post.BR1986FB;1725879 wrote:Agreed. I'm cool with the picks because they are needs (run stuffer) and insurance (center) for when Mack leaves.
First round was quite Mangini-like.
Looks like they are loading up to give Manziel his shot. Looks like another year of shitty football.
Now that I know the direction they are going in this draft (no legit QB), they might as well go "all in." Offensively, I might grab a blocking TE and another O-Lineman for depth. Other than that, use the rest of the picks on defense and stack that side of the line. Get the QB, WR & home run hitting RB next year.
With the way they are constructing this, they are probably picking very high next year and will be in position to finally get that QB if there's one worth taking. -
BR1986FB
Call it whatever you want but it's pretty obvious to see the direction they are going in..."safe." They might as well load up on defense & O-Linemen since they don't have a QB.like_that;1725910 wrote:Whole lotta butt hurt in this post.
That's what you & COA want, correct? And I'm not necessarily saying there's anything wrong with that but you guys better be the last ones bitching when they win 3 or 4 games this year. Lose for another year and go get the QB next year, and if they squeak out 6 wins, wait until the 2016 draft to get the QB, and so on, and so on.... -

Wait, you're upset that we went with a what you perceive to be, safe draft? Question, would you have QQ'd if you were a Colts fan for taking the "Safe" QB in luck?BR1986FB;1725911 wrote:Call it whatever you want but it's pretty obvious to see the direction they are going in..."safe." As for wins, if our Oline didn't lose Mack and no replacement, or lose Phil Taylor to anchor the line we make the playoffs with our shitty QB. Look at Bengals game for Run defense and importance. Look at our running game with Mack, top 5 running team with a lead back who's out of the NFL now, and after we lost Mack. It's night and day.
What did you want them to do? Trade our 2 1st, 2nd Round, and next yr's 1st for MM? If you thought that was a good idea, then I don't know what to tell you. He wouldn't have had a good line in front of him, and he would have rarely played as the other team was running it down our throats. -

Oh, so if we traded away two picks for Mariotta (who isn't ready to start from week 1) or traded away a first for a mediocre bradford, all of a sudden this team is winning ten games and going to the playoffs? Get real. This team was well on its way to a 9 win season before Mack got hurt. Now their line is even better. It brings the lulz that you were more optimistic about the Weeden/Trich era, than you are about this current personnel/coaching staff. You obviously live for the flash picks.BR1986FB;1725911 wrote:Call it whatever you want but it's pretty obvious to see the direction they are going in..."safe." I'd take Green-beckham before Gregory. -
like_thatGregory would be tempting, but we definitely need to look at a WR. I don't like how gregory struggles to put on weight though. That sounds like Mingo 2.0.

I'd be happy with him. Worth the risk. Or Funchess/Williams/Strong/DGB -

Incorrect, regarding the flash picks. I'm an O-Line guy and I'd prefer they ran the ball EVERY down but I also realize they aren't going to win without a serviceable QB.like_that;1725914 wrote:Oh, so if we traded away two picks for Mariotta (who isn't ready to start from week 1) or traded away a first for a mediocre bradford, all of a sudden this team is winning ten games and going to the playoffs? I "LOL" at COA who has been bitching & moaning about McCown since they acquired him but apparently, all of the QB "ill's" have been cured since they drafted a run stuffer and an O-Lineman. -

No they don't. Run the ball, stop the run. That's all you need in this system.like_that;1725919 wrote:but we definitely need to look at a WR. -

Our team got better, and you want to bitch. I have a hard time believing if mack stays healthy last year and we make the playoffs that you would be playing this same tune.BR1986FB;1725924 wrote:No they don't. Run the ball, stop the run. That's all you need in this system. -

come on man.. they need another WR.. we have 2 possession gusy and a slot guy.. we need a #1.BR1986FB;1725924 wrote:No they don't. Run the ball, stop the run. That's all you need in this system. -

I'm not saying they didn't get better at those two positions but the Erving pick was just filling a vacancy that will be there next year (Mack).like_that;1725925 wrote:Our team got better, and you want to bitch. They really don't need a legit WR if they are planning to play "Mangin Ball" this year.
Dive on the grenade and suck ass for another year, while stockpiling big uglies....go get your QB & flashy toys (WR/RB) next year. It's not too difficult.
Hopefully Farmer sees this too and Haslam has the patience to keep him around another year. I see their mindset. It's just not going to equate to a lot of wins this year but over the long haul it will work once they get the QB in place. -

I'm not a fan of McCown, but I'm even less of a fan of throwing away our future for MM who is as dangerous as RG3. I see very little point in bringing in a QB only to watch him get battered around, no run game, and no WRs to throw to. If we already had the #2 pick, different story. Given the browns status, I love what they're doing. Don't have the QB, so build the lines, be a tough football team.BR1986FB;1725923 wrote:Incorrect, regarding the flash picks. I know you and sleeper don't believe in controlling the line of scrimmage, but I do. Running the ball and stopping the run (to pair with our pretty damn good secondary), is a recipe for success. Our FO, for fucking once, has a plan and is sticking to it. Farmer doesn't bow down to the media and just take a WR bc Kiper said so. They have their board, they set it, and they fucking stick to it.
