2015 Browns Offseason Thread

HitsRusLast year you used a #1 pick plus a later pick to move up toi get JFF. Now this year, on a small sample, you pull the plug on your judgement last year and give it no chance to succeed. This year you trade your two #1 picks plus more picks to get Mariotta, a guy with a good chance to be a franchise QB, but certainly, as NFL history shows us, hardly a guarantee.
Put that together and you will have spent 3 #1 picks plus extra picks in an attempt to acquire a QB that MAY succeed.
Do you think that is the way to build a successful team?...spending 3-5 top picks on 1 player and hoping for a hit? I don't know ANY successful teams that operate this way.
IMHO, you trust your initial judgement on Manziel, you apply your current draft picks on increasing and solidifying the areas of the team that you've neglected, and if JFF doesn't pan out...the QB crop next year is better. -

If he's great, it would be a small price to pay. The problem with middle of the road (or lesser) QB's like the Browns have had are that they may get you to 5-7 wins year in, and year out. This is going to leave the team drafting in the 8-12 range which will be out of reach (likely) for a franchise QB. At some point, they are probably going to need to pull the trigger on a ridiculous trade up to get that guy.hangonsloopy;1725643 wrote:I'm not a huge fan of trading up for Mariota but I'm tired of people saying they would "give up the farm" for him. Trading your second 1st this year(which you acquired for exactly this reason) and a first next year is not giving up the farm. Is it a lot? Sure. If they think he's gonna be great though it's a small price to pay.
And as an FYI, the Tits "starting point" in negotiations to come up from #12 is three 1st's. That's the starting point. They may back off on that but they want at least an RGIII type deal. -

Your point is valid, the only thing is one is 5'11" and can not read a playbook and the other is 6'4".HitsRus;1725655 wrote:Last year you used a #1 pick plus a later pick to move up toi get JFF. Don't forget the other hasn't read a defense ever, nor has he taken a snap from under center.Sonofanump;1725663 wrote:Your point is valid, the only thing is one is 5'11" and can not read a playbook and the other is 6'4". -
Classyposter58Just make your team better with good position players and not make a Cleveland move for once. Trading Wiggins was one mistake enough for this season, only guy they should move up for is Cooper

Lovejoy1984Trading Wiggins wasn't a mistake.

Looks pretty dumb now because of the Love injury but there's no way they could have possibly foreseen that. hahaHighRoller74;1725678 wrote:Trading Wiggins wasn't a mistake. -
Classyposter58Don't wanna hijack this thread but I thought it was terrible from the beginning. You get an eventual superstar for cheap. Also moving this was an awful idea, that theater has a ton of empty seats

Lovejoy1984If Raiders go Amari, wouldn't mind the Browns trading up and trying to grab Leonard Williams
