Hmm I'll have to re look at those. I know back before he traded I looked and saw advanced stats had his best season at 22nd best qb for that season. I'll double check and respond later, could have gotten that wrong for sure.lhslep134;1723937 wrote:Based on him being 14th in 2013 (5.2%) and 16th in 2012 (-.8%) in DVOA before getting hurt. A bad quarterback isn't approaching those numbers but a competent one definitely is.

He may not be great, or even good, but he's definitely competent. -

Are you referring to QB Rating or QBR or some other advanced metrics? If so, IMO DVOA is a better approximation of where a quarterback stands in relation to the field than QB Rating or QBR bc those stats are inherently dependent on the surrounding talent (QBR to a much lesser, but still existent, extent than QB rating).Commander of Awesome;1723938 wrote:I know back before he traded I looked and saw advanced stats
If you check the 2014 Football Outsiders QB page it explains the difference between ESPN's QBR and their DVOA rating. -

You roll the dice on this. People, who really don't know Cleveland, have a bad perception of it. If Bradford comes in and balls out, Cleveland would be the place to stay. He could change his mind. If he sucks ass, he probably moves on. #19 is a small price to pay for a QB.Dr. KnOiTaLL;1723918 wrote:Yeah, but do you want a QB leading your offense that doesn't want to play for you? -

I agree with your first point. After some people feel the love, they fall in love with Cleveland. I highly disagree with your second point. A first round pick for a below average QB is never a "small" price. Hell a first round pick is hardly a "small" price for any transaction. This isn't fantasy football.BR1986FB;1724040 wrote:You roll the dice on this. People, who really don't know Cleveland, have a bad perception of it. Disagree. Getting a player who has some kind of track record, granted not the best track record, at the most covet position in football versus the unknown, especially with this franchises track record at blowing 1st round picks, is a small price. Gotta pay to get the QB. I'd rather take a chance on Bradford with the #19 pick than go all balls deep and sell the farm trading up for Mariota.like_that;1724055 wrote:I agree with your first point. I agree that #19 might seem like a good price to get Bradford. But I highly disagree that it is a small price to pay if he fails (or succeeds). First round pick is one of the most valuable assets in the NFL.BR1986FB;1724065 wrote:Disagree. They could trade it for Bradford. Say they didnt, and they drafted a WR instead and that WR became one of the best in football. That's why it's high risk..so many pro bowl players come in the top 20.

BR1986FBI know, I know "silly season" but WTF do the Raiders have on their roster that would be worth that much? Ummm, nothing....

DeyDurkie5Keep the picks, take BPA, and hopefully get two long term immediate starters. Don't get the trading up.
Also stop the run. -

I pretty much agree with this. Trading these picks is stupid.DeyDurkie5;1724329 wrote:Keep the picks, take BPA, and hopefully get two long term immediate starters. Don't get the trading up. -

It wont happen, but the only way it would is if Mariota or Winston was still available at that pick, which they wont be.BR1986FB;1724328 wrote:I know, I know "silly season" but WTF do the Raiders have on their roster that would be worth that much? Ummm, nothing....

Just more mininformation/boredom from people and just slinging out ideas.
Draft needs to get here soon before the rumors get out of hand. Next they will report that a team makes a selection based on what a homeless man told themj.... -
Laley23You do that trade if you think you're getting the franchise QB. I think Winston is the only guy for that label, and I doubt he would be there.
But if the Browns feel MM is that guy and he slips, you do it. -
like_thatI think you all know I already hate trading picks, so I hope none of these trade rumors are true. Can't really think of any SB franchises that trade away that many picks.
As for stopping the run, you all can give COA as much shit as you want, but it is something the Browns severely lack. I get that the last few teams to win the SB were middle of the pack ranking wise, but in the AFC North you have to stop the run. Rapistberger really is the only QB in the AFCN that can somewhat carry an offense because he is fat and people roll off of him. The rest of the QBs in the division need a strong running game to have a good game. Hell, even the fat rapist has his best seasons when the steelers get their running game rolling. If the Browns were better at stopping the run last year, they probably split the series with the ratbirds and possibly steal the win in week 1.
Just look at the Browns season series with the bengals last year. The first game I believe they played their best run D all year (Phil Taylor played this game). They held them under 100 yards and blew them out. Flash forward to 5 weeks later, they give up over 200 yards and get their asses kicked at home. -

Yup, the most important thing in football is controlling the line of scrimmage. That's a great showcase for why.like_that;1724445 wrote:I think you all know I already hate trading picks, so I hope none of these trade rumors are true. BR1986FBAgain, if true, I'd be pissed. I like Shelton but no way I trade up to #5, giving up #12 and a 2nd rounder, to get him.....

BR1986FBYeah, I know, it's a piece from that doucher LaCanfora but here are his five "can't miss" picks. Surprised he has White above Cooper....

Pick6Most likely not going to get a shot at White/Cooper, but I wouldn't be pissed with Parker, Strong, not sure if I'm forgetting anyone else, but if they draft Perriman..jesus christ. Not high on Coates or D. Smith either.

Radio had a draft analyst on yesterday who is a national guy and I believe a Browns fan. He said he would rail on the organization if they used a 1st on Perriman. Said he wasn't on anyones radar until someone leaked his 40 time. Has "Greg Little" hands.Pick6;1724664 wrote:Most likely not going to get a shot at White/Cooper, but I wouldn't be pissed with Parker, Strong, not sure if I'm forgetting anyone else, but if they draft Perriman..jesus christ. Pick6some mid-round guys I like that I have familiarity with are Rashad Greene, Tyler Lockett, Funchess (sorry that dude they signed is not a starter), Ty Montgomery, Diggs (he's been discussed on here, but I think worth the risk in mid-rounds, O'Leary (yes please), Jesse James, and Chris Conley. Even Titus Davis late round. In my mind, definitely some potential studs up for grabs.

Pick6
exactly. don't give a fuck about your speed if you can't catch. I watched enough Greg Little drops to last a lifetime. I admittedly didn't watch him much this season (though I did last year), but seems to have Heyward-Bey written all over him.BR1986FB;1724668 wrote:Radio had a draft analyst on yesterday who is a national guy and I believe a Browns fan. I think they will draft an athletic/pass catching TE somewhere in this draft. The three they have on the roster right now are serviceable but far from offensive "threats."Pick6;1724675 wrote:some mid-round guys I like that I have familiarity with are Rashad Greene, Tyler Lockett, Funchess (sorry that dude they signed is not a starter), Ty Montgomery, Diggs (he's been discussed on here, but I think worth the risk in mid-rounds, O'Leary (yes please), Jesse James, and Chris Conley. McShay called Shelton a down and s half player because of his forty timeBR1986FB;1724615 wrote:Again, if true, I'd be pissed. I like Shelton but no way I trade up to #5, giving up #12 and a 2nd rounder, to get him.....

McShay is a douche. I might look at a WR's or RB's 40 time but a D-Lineman? I'd be looking more at his "burst" and shuttle times than a 40. Shit, fat man may not run 40 yards in his lifetime. LOLSonofanump;1724689 wrote:McShay called Shelton a down and s half player because of his forty time
