Crimson streak
He's had close to 1000 yards receiving 2 out of 4 years. His rookie season he didn't play much and last year was hampered by injuries. To me a true number 2 guy should have 900-1000 yards receiving and should be a good possession guy to compliment your number 1. And he played for Jacksonville who is worse off at qb than we are so obviously the numbers aren't going to be ridiculous.SportsAndLady;1697555 wrote:I would take Hawkins over Cecil shorts but my point was calling Cecil shorts a true #2. He might have potential to be that...but he's not now and isn't anywhere in the same planet as a true #2

Crimson streakI do agree about the number 2 right now bc he needs to stay healthy. That's really what has been holding him down.

And in the other two years? A "true #2" doesn't have two years like Cecil has had.Crimson streak;1697557 wrote:He's had close to 1000 yards receiving 2 out of 4 years. Like I said the 1 year was his rookie year. He didn't play much. And the other was this year and he only played 8 games I believe and had 550 yards receiving. So a 16 game season puts him at 1100 yards. His talent and ability is that of a number 2 guy. Health has always been the question mark for him. Pettine sure seems to like him and thinks he could be an elite receiverSportsAndLady;1697562 wrote:And in the other two years? A "true #2" doesn't have two years like Cecil has had.

MulvaHe played 13 games this year, and had less than 600 yards and 1 TD.

Ok I stand corrected then. I knew he was hurt a lot this year but didn't realize he played in 13 gamesMulva;1697569 wrote:He played 13 games this year, and had less than 600 yards and 1 TD.

se-alumSounds like the Browns interviewed Mike Martz for OC.

Commander of Awesome
No thanks. The guy will be 64 yrs old at the beginning of the season, hasn't been in the NFL for 2 seasons and doesn't like to run the ball. Wasn't that why he was fired from the 9ers? Wouldn't run the ball enough for Singletary. Yeah no thanks. Give me a young up and coming guy. I wouldn't mind the Raiders QB coach, deflippo or something like that. I'd rather Trestman than Martz, but would rather get a young guy in there over either of them.se-alum;1698137 wrote:Sounds like the Browns interviewed Mike Martz for OC. -

http://www.nationalfootballpost.com/Pass-happy-Mike-Martz-will-have-to-run-the-ball-more.html
I can find more articles about his time with the 9ers were he was pass happy as well.
Here's what I know about Martz:
Rams: Fired and sent packing.
49ers: Fired and sent packing after 1 seasons for not running the ball enough to the HC liking.
Lions: Fired after 2 seasons.
Bears: Fired after 2 seasons for not running a more balanced offense.
Fired from his last 4 jobs, that's a trend. No thanks. -
like_thatGore had over 1000 yards with mike martz there, and forte was a pro bowl rb with mike martz...

Still got fired for not running the ball enough, and having an unbalanced offense.like_that;1698170 wrote:Gore had over 1000 yards with mike martz there, and forte was a pro bowl rb with mike martz... -

He's not a "true" #2. Crimson is just being a Mount Union blowhardMulva;1697569 wrote:He played 13 games this year, and had less than 600 yards and 1 TD.
True #2's are Randall Cobb, Alshon Jeffrey, Larry Fitzgerald or Michael Floyd depending on who you consider the #1, Emmanuel Sanders, DeAndre Hopkins, Terrance Williams, Eric Decker on any team outside of the Jets.
Shorts isn't near the level of those guys. He's good, but he's more of a #2/#3 than true #2 -

Terry lol'd at the idea of Mike Martz interviewing for the OC job. Got a nice pwn in.
"Hey we wanna run the ball! So let's bring in Mike Martz!" /sarcasm Brought teh lulz -

We get it, you love Martz based on what he did 10+ yrs ago.like_that;1698217 wrote:We get it, you don't like Martz. -
Laley23I'd like Martz...with a QB...multiple WRs...an above average/shifty RB...and a dome. Browns have 1/4, and that's conbining a half for the WRs and the RBs lol.
He would be terrible, IMO, for this offense personnel and Cleveland weather. -
Commander of Awesome
Not to mention he doesn't use the Zone Blocking Scheme, meaning all of our scouting this past season goes out the fucking window, setting us back again. Get a coordinator that isn't a fucking bum living off his past success (Holmgren like), and get a young up and coming OC that hasn't been fired more times than he's had a winning season/ top 16 offense.Laley23;1698224 wrote:I'd like Martz...with a QB...multiple WRs...an above average/shifty RB...and a dome. Good OCs don't get fired 4 fucking times. They keep their job or get promoted. /story
Martz has done dick since the Rams. With St. Louis he had a HoF QB, HoF WR, HoF RB, HoF top 2 LT of all fucking time (Pace), playing in a dome. He should have had a top offense with that. -
se-alumI think I'd like them to give Defilippo a shot.
-
ts1227They're also interviewing Marty Mornhinweg, best known for taking the wind after winning an OT coin toss when he coached DET

He's in my top 3 OC candidates.se-alum;1698242 wrote:I think I'd like them to give Defilippo a shot. -
Commander of AwesomeI generally think big FA splashes are fools gold but there's some players that can help the browns.

I'd love to see the Browns make a run at Bulaga. Followed by Suh/Fairley, then one of the big WR's (Thomas, Cobb, Dez) -
like_thatGive me suh and Houston then call it a day.
