2015 Browns Offseason Thread

Well if COA is right, Browns should win the Super Bowl this year. We invested a substantial amount of value into the DL "Stop the run" and OL "Run the Ball".

Reality is, we need a QB. Nothing else matters until we get a QB.

He walked off under his own power which is a good sign. Doubt he's seriously injured or will miss any time.

I also have them at 3 wins but how do you go 3-11 in a 16 game season? I think 11 wins for Cincy is way too optimistic.....

If the line is healthy I will take the over on 3 wins easily.

Was that directed at Bleacher Report or me? If it was directed at me, I didn't stutter. I've had them with 3 wins since the beginning of offseason. Until they get a QB, they won't do much.

As some have mentioned, I think they will be much better than their record indicates but contrary to some, I don't think they can consistently win with this "run the ball/stop the run" philosophy. I used to be an advocate of that but if you don't have the firepower, or a defense/running game like Seattle's (which the Browns don't/won't have), you're not going to win much.

And before somebody says it, save your breath...."you're the worst"...."you're not a 'true' fan", blah, blah, fucking, blah. Everyone has their opinion....what they see with their own eyes.

We know. You have been talking about how the Browns will have shitty 2015 season during the 2014 season.

I'd be surprised at 3 wins. The team has enough talent that they will games based on that alone but I agree with you. Any chance of being relevant in the NFL will not happen until we solve the QB situation.

Hoyer wasn't good but I actually think they regressed at the QB position. If they had a legit QB, I'd be all in on "playoffs" but they don't. I think they have built a "team" that's ready to win, they just don't have the QB to take them there. If people think their defense is going to be good enough to consistently win 12-10 "shootouts" they are fooling themselves. Too many teams have the firepower (QB) to score at will and the Browns can't match that.

EDIT: I will add a small caveat to this this....if somehow Manziel pulls a rabbit out of his ass, all bets are off on 3 wins. Do I think he'll light it up? No, but I think McCown sucks major ass.

    LOL @ 3 wins
  • SportsAndLady
I mean I get what you're saying BR, but three wins is just being dramatic. This team hasn't had less than 4 wins in a longgggg time, and this is probably the most talented we've been (outside of the QB position) since '99.

We have too much talent to get through a 16 game season with just 3 wins. Not enough talent at the QB position to get more than 8 wins (imo) but certainly not a 3 win season.

I'm also going off (and you're not going to like this) what the schedule looks like. Yes, things change from year to year but from what I see of their schedule (going off of recent history, which is all I have to base it on), I don't see many W's. Sure, Peyton Manning could fall apart and the Broncos could suck but I'm not counting on it. Roethlisberger could break his leg (how many would love that?) but again, not counting on it, etc, etc...

I think it's safe to assume we go at least 2-4 in the division just like we have in the last 3 seasons and there's no way in hell we're going 1-11 the rest of the way.

If you truly think we're winning 3 games put your money where your mouth is and let's bet $20 on it. I'll give you 4-1 odds.
  • lhslep134
Or better yet, why don't you just go bet $1,000 on the under in Vegas? The bet will cover the expenses you incur to place it.
  • DeyDurkie5
BR I'll bet you a $1000 that they get more than 3 wins.

If Joe Thomas is out I wouldn't count on more than 3 wins.
  • Azubuike24
People seem to forget that generally these division teams play the SAME SCHEDULE.

I think the Steelers and Ravens are getting way too much credit. I've seen people projecting both at 10+ wins.

It was reported it wasn't serious.

I do too. The AFC North might have sent 3 teams to the playoffs last year, but I was not impressed with the division at all. I think the division comes back down to earth this season.

LT Joe Thomas not practicing, but walking fine and has nothing on his knee. Looks like #Browns did avoid serious injury. 17m

Great news to start my Tuesday.

Pettine: Joe Thomas is fine. Got regular day off, not related to any injury or to leg getting rolled up in practice #Browns 4m

Under the radar Browns turning heads....

I've heard a lot of good thing about Jennings, Lenz and Shane Wynn. They may have a tough time stashing some of these guys away on the practice squad.

Some tidbits from camp (NFL.com)....(from yesterday)

Kruger compares Shelton to Ngata....(I've heard Shelton is giving Alex Mack everything he can handle in camp)....

Well, the Jets will be using their backup QB against us in the opener. Geno out 6-10 weeks after getting sucker-punched by a now ex-teammate.

That's a shame, for Smith. Had heard he was actually turning the corner and looking pretty decent.
