BR1986FBAssuming no screwups, the Cavs should be on a 15 game winning streak (Pacers/Lakers/Cheat up next) rolling into Chicago right before the All-Star break.

Midstate01I think love is a great fit. They just have to find the best ways to use him. think using him in the post more and more is something I'd think they'd want to do.
Kyrie played hard last night and you'd have never known, by body language that in the 3rd quarter, he hadn't scored. He just kept playing... -
BR1986FB
That's why I said "assuming no screwups" and "should." Didn't say it was a "guarantee" or a "lock." If they play poorly, they deserve to lose against those three.Ironman92;1703701 wrote:I'd like to jinx-proof this -

sleeperHow about this for a jinx, the Cavs will represent the East in the NBA finals and you can take that to the bank.
-
Commander of AwesomeHow about this?
Cavs have been winning without Love scoring, but impacting on D, Spacing and Glass. Last night Kyrie made 1 shot. Ran offense and defended.Cavs were up on a top Western Conference team by 32 pts. Good luck NBA.

sleeperYeah the NBA is going to have trouble stopping the Cavs at this point. Injuries are the only concern but as long as we keep the big 4(Bron, Love, Kyrie, Mozgov) healthy we should be the favorites to win it this year.

BR1986FB
Injuries are my only concern right now. I haven't penciled them in for a championship (yet) but if one of those 4 go down, especially Mozgov (LBJ & Kyrie are a given), it's going to hurt their chances a lot.sleeper;1703756 wrote:Yeah the NBA is going to have trouble stopping the Cavs at this point. Honestly, I think JR plays a huge role in our success as well. His ability to knock down the three (unlike our supposed specialist Miller) has created much better spacing to balance the floor and open the lanes. Love and JR in the corners, Mozzy running the low and high post, and Bron and Kyrie slashing. **Recipe for success**sleeper;1703756 wrote:Yeah the NBA is going to have trouble stopping the Cavs at this point. se-alumI've said it before, but I think Love is a great fit. 17 & 10 out of your 3rd option is pretty damn good.
-
BR1986FB
Agreed. I heard some numbers regarding Bosh vs Love in their first 51 games, in their new surroundings, and Bosh was 18 & 8 while Love is 17 & 10. Bosh's FG % was higher but I completely agree with your comment. If Love were the alpha, like he was in Minny, putting up these numbers, I'd be very concerned, but he's the THIRD option.se-alum;1703763 wrote:I've said it before, but I think Love is a great fit. 17 & 10 out of your 3rd option is pretty damn good. -
Commander of AwesomeJR Smith is also a MILLION times better than Waiters. He's trash and sucks. lolpick6 wrong again, what's new?
-
Dr. KnOiTaLL
Agreed, and it appears he's got a much better attitude than Dion as well. A lot of people said, "why bring in another locker room issue?" I think the biggest difference is, JR knows what he is and he also respects LeBron and Kyrie. Dion has no clue what he really is, and that's a mediocre slasher with a below average jumper. My guess is that he didn't respect LeBron as much as he should, and he certainly didn't respect Kyrie. Good riddance.Commander of Awesome;1703770 wrote:JR Smith is also a MILLION times better than Waiters. He's trash and sucks. lolpick6 wrong again, what's new? -

Possibly Footwedge, since he always is harping on his FG% and shit in his typical "old moron" deal he does with everything.SportsAndLady;1703644 wrote:Not saying he doesn't fit...just curious where you heard people say he sucks. That's just stupid -

Supposedly, the word on JR is that he'll play the "good soldier" for his first year before he starts to turn on you. Also helps that he's on a winning team. If they can benefit from his new "attitude" for only this year and win a ring, I'm all for it. I wouldn't expect his attitude change for a prolonged period of time though.Dr. KnOiTaLL;1703773 wrote:Agreed, and it appears he's got a much better attitude than Dion as well. Also agree I don't miss Waiters. He belongs on a very bad team where he can just chuck it 24/7. That would probably make him happiest. -

There's also a bunch of people on #NBATwitter with "Kevin Love sucks" and "Cavs are better off without Love" hot takes.Heretic;1703774 wrote:Possibly Footwedge, since he always is harping on his FG% and shit in his typical "old moron" deal he does with everything.
For those that don't know what "#NBATwitter" is, it's basically the hashtag you use when you see someone on twitter making a ridiculously stupid point or completely overreacting. -

Seems like JR is one of those guys who thrives with leaders and good players around him but is cancerous otherwise. Totally cool with those types on our team, assuming they stay in line, because of the veteran leadership we have on our team. We didn't bring in James Jones, Mike Miller, etc. for their on-court contributions, we brought them in as veteran leaders.BR1986FB;1703777 wrote:Supposedly, the word on JR is that he'll play the "good soldier" for his first year before he starts to turn on you. I agree, and while some have said that they're a waste, they simply don't understand the positive effects of having guys like that on the team. I was at the OKC game a couple weeks ago, and Kyrie got LEVELED on a screen by Perkins near mid court. A timeout followed, and the first thing I saw was Mike Miller go over to Tristan Thompson and get in his face about not calling out the screen, even though he was down ready to defend. THAT is why I like having these guys on the team. They know how to play the game the right way, and they are teaching the young guys to do the little things. Plus, I'm sure having smart players at the end of your bench brings the intensity up at practice quite a bit. I've loved the signings from the beginning, although I had hoped Miller would knock down a few more threes, but he is by no means a wasted roster space. The veteran presence is critical.lhslep134;1703780 wrote:We didn't bring in James Jones, Mike Miller, etc. for their on-court contributions, we brought them in as veteran leaders. -

Cavs are playing him out of position. Just posting him up on the 3 point line isn't his game. He's a undersized 4 who has a really good outside shot. Unfortunately this is probably where he'll have to play going forward on a team that has a legit center. As long as he contributes on the boards and makes some shots I think most people are okay with it. Hopefully he'll be happy with that role.sleeper;1703673 wrote:Count me in as someone who bitches about it. It mostly stems from the trade rape the Cavs received to get the guy and the obvious downgrade from how good he was in Minnesota. He doesn't "suck", he's a good player but he doesn't seem like the same player that we thought we were getting. It's not even about the numbers which we all knew would drop off, it just seems the offense doesn't run as smoothly with him in the game and there being no other scorer on the floor. -

Not to change sport topics but that's essentially what the Tribe did a few years ago with Jason Giambi when they snuck into the playoffs with that play in game. He brought little to the table (except that one SPECTACULAR game winning HR to keep them alive down the stretch) as a player but his leadership was immense in the dugout. Teams need those type of guys. Same as the Browns bringing in Whitner, Dansby except those guys are major contributors.....Dr. KnOiTaLL;1703782 wrote:I agree, and while some have said that they're a waste, they simply don't understand the positive effects of having guys like that on the team. Laley23Kevin Love isn't an undersized 4. Hell, he is probably bigger than 80% of fours out there.

Barkley had a good point last night in that JR is a follower basically. If he is surrounding by good guys and winners he will act accordingly, but if he is in a cancerous situation he follows and becomes a cancer himself and his play suffers.lhslep134;1703780 wrote:Seems like JR is one of those guys who thrives with leaders and good players around him but is cancerous otherwise. MulvaWasn't going to be the one to jinx it, but since that cat is already out of the bag... the Cavs are 12-0 since this post.
