Blue Jackets finally come to terms with Johansen, 3-year, $12m deal. Not a bad cap hit for Columbus, I'm pretty happy with the deal and very happy it got done before the season so the team can just focus on winning. Should be a fun season at Nationwide.

My Top 5 coming into season:

    5. Anaheim
    4. Boston
    3. Montreal
    2. Chicago
    1. Tampa Bay

I wish the deal would have gotten done this time last week. I hope we can still have a decent start to the season. I'm guessing second place finish in the Metro maybe 4th in the conference.

Dubi out for six weeks. Add him to the list of injured guys to start the season (Horton, Jenner, Murray, Gibbons). Better hope Joey gets up to speed quickly and Hartnell is ready to go from the start. Might be a rough go of things for the first month+

    Go Jackets.

Pens up 3-1 after the 1st.

Great goal from Cam on the PP ... 2-1 Jackets in the third
  • gorocks99
And it's 3-1 after Anisimov's softie. Finish it off and get the W!

That's game, 3-1 Jackets. Good way to start the season, even if it is Buffalo. Injuries could've derailed it but they didn't.

Great Start for the Jackets. Cam played as good as I have ever seen him play. I'm glad we got Skille back and he had a great goal tonight. Both of the guys making their NHL debuts looked good as well.

    We are the 5th Line!

And won 6-4. Strong game offensively, but I'm not overly a fan of the "well, we'll outscore your ass!!!" philosophy, as it tends to crash and burn in the playoffs.

It's still early and they faced the most lethal offensive team in the league last year, last night. System is still being put in place right now. PK and Fleury need to improve quickly though. Scuderi has no place on this team and it showed last night and it's why they brought up Harrington today. They will get better defensively and the system they used last night is 100x better they used the past 5 seasons.

Oh yeah, I know it'll take a while to get fully acclimated to the system and, especially at this time of the year, "a win is a win" is pretty much the only real reaction a person can have.

But after last year's playoffs, watching a 3-0 lead turn into a 3-3 tie just left me with the hockey version of 'Nam flashbacks.

Shows how firing Bylsma was stupid IMO. Pittsburgh will not win another title unless they get a real defense. You know why Detroit was so great during that 10-11 year stretch? It was great defense that got it done, I mean except for when Hasek came they really did not have a great goaltender at all

Please tell us more about Detroit.

If you want? I mean that stretch from 97-98 to 08-09 was pretty nuts. 4 titles in 11 years is pretty good the way the leagues are constructed today

Rick Nash and the rangers in NWA tonight, should be rocking.
  • TedSheckler
    Fuck Nash.

Yeah, no. He should've been gone after the meltdown against Philly in '12 and in '13 after the collapse against Boston. A real defense? You do realize the only thing defensive about Bylsma was zone and a fucking stretch pass. The team as a whole is better than it was last year and the defensive depth is better. Don't give me losing Orpik and Niskanen was terrible either. Orpik was hot garbage and Niskanen would've been redundant on this team. Getting Ehrhoff to replace him was a incredible move as he is a better offensive defenseman than him. Also, finally letting the kids play unlike Bylsma will payoff as well.

Now onto Detroit. Detroit is going backwards, and fast. Datsyuk is just about done and Zetterberg is close as well. Time is ticking on them and they both miss chunks of the season due to injuries every year. Howard is overrated and Holland won't let his top prospects play on the top team until they're about 24-25. No top FA's want to go there anymore either. They missed out on Niskanen this year and they offered more than Washington did but didn't want to play there. Imo Detroit's days as an elite team are on done.

Defend NWA tonight and send Nash packing. I couldn't justify buying tickets for tonight's gane though when on Stubbub their $80 for the sane tickets that are $10 Tuesday.

Awesome Win. Really Physical 5-2 over the Rangers. 2-0 to start the season with a win over the defending Conference champs. The youngsters just continue to look great out there. Just need to keep the fight up out there until everyone gets healthy. Defend NWA
