If an organization is good enough to make the moves and put themselves in position to land multiple big name free agents then more power to them, not everyone can do that. Will you think it's a bitch move if Melo goes to Chicago and teams up with DRose and Noah? The Bulls put themselves in position to possibly make that happen.
I said they shuld able to choose where they play, I just think its a bitch move teaming up with other superstars who are switching teams in free agency to make a super team.

Melo signing in chicago is not even near the same as Bron Wade and Bosh all planning to team up to play in Miami. Its one free agent picking a team that fits his needs. If Wade and Bosh were already in Miami and Lebron joined to make it a great team, it wouldnt be near the same as what he/they did. They set this up for years in advance, Melo would just be signing with a team in the offseason that happens to have a perfect opening for him. Thats IFFF he even goes to Chicago.

There is a difference between an All-star and a Super-Star.
I agree. LeBron is a superstar. Carmelo is a superstar. Bosh and Wade, while big names and have past superstar pedigree, are currently not at that level. So the whole "big 4" would really be a new "big 2" and 2 other big names. To me, it's no different than many other additions in the past, they just went about adding them much differently. If this new big 4 comes together, people will cry "collusion." However, is it really 4 of the top stars teaming up? No.

Chicago drafted Pippen. They also drafted Horace Grant. And BJ Armstrong. And of course Jordan.

In fact, for their first title. the Bulls top 4 scorers and 6 of their top 7 were drafted by Chicago(Pippen was drafted by Seattle but immediately traded if you want to get technical.)

Miami has Wade & Chalmers. Outside of that, it's two guys who took less to come play with a top rival rather than against him, and a few ring chasers.

    aka standard bitch shit

Doesn't take away from the main point, you need 2 stars to win.

Which two players on the Spurs would you classify as "stars" this past season?

Whats the difference really? You think DRose isn't recruting Melo behind closed doors? Hell I know I would. He would be joining up with two other stars to try and win, which in the end should be the main goal and you couldn't fault him for that. He's 30 and if he wants to leave a lasting legacy he needs to do more than get out of the first round twice in 10 years. This should enable him to do that if it happens.

Tony Parker and Tim Duncan, plus they had tremendous role players.

I don't think you realize how good McHale, Pippen, Worthy were.

Years of planning behind the scenes would be the difference lol. And the fact that its one free agent joining a team, not 3 free agents all picking one destination to go to and play together, you know thats a big difference between what hes doing and how the big 3 was formed.

And yeah I understand him wanting to make playoff runs, so im sure we'll see him sign with a contender.

And btw, to be honest, put that Denver team in the EC during those years and hes out of the first round every single time id bank on it. Hell most of the years they were squeaking into the west in 6th 7th or 8th theyd of probably had a top 4 seed and homecourt advantage in the East lol. Not that it really matters

    16, 2, and 5 is a star?

    15 and 9 is a star?

You have a pretty loose definition. Star doesn't mean "good player" to me.

If you're looking to define stardom by statistics only, you won't find any on the Spurs. Not because there aren't any, but because the Spurs strategy doesn't want or need guys to average 30 points a game.

I was out of town this weekend so I'm catching up on this therad but also interested in whether Jordan was going to leave the Bulls from two pages back. Found this link about him threatening to go to the Knicks at one point.

Greatest PF of all time, though not in his prime, is a star. Tony Parker is the 2nd best PG in the league, and the argument has been there for the best over the last 5 years.

While your post is correct, it's a waste of time. Anyone who claims to know anything about the NBA knows Parker and Duncan are still stars, so anyone who says otherwise is either trolling or an idiot.

Also, you could argue Ginobili and Leonard are stars too.

Leonard is on the verge of becoming a franchise player.

I'm sure I'll get blasted for this, but is Kyrie REALLY worth a max player deal? A guy who can't stay healthy a whole season and plays 0 defense? Now I know he'd get a max payer offer elsewhere, but just not sure if he's worth it

Who else are we going to give the money to? I'm fine with it.

Would you classify Isaiah Thomas of the Kings as a star? What about Demar Derozan?

If Duncan is a "star" at this point in his career, what does that make Demarcus Cousins?

No, but none of them finished 12th or 13th in the MVP voting. Sorry your definition of a star is, apparently, based solely on #s. True greatness is measured in a lot more ways...

The MVP voters also awarded Steve Nash two consecutive MVP awards, I don't exactly see that as a good barometer.

There is really no argument for how present-day Duncan can be a "star" and Demarcus Cousins isn't.

based on a combination of what he is currently in what he has the potential to be yes he is worth a max deal. If Kyrie is the same player five years from now it will not have been worth it but you have to assume that you will get better the longer he is in the league

DeMarcus Cousins is a headcase who doesnt yet know how to win...will he get there? Who knows. The talent is definitely there to be a star though.
