Okay I mean Wiggins is an awesome prospect, and I have no doubt he'll blossom into an All-star one day. But it will be really hard for him to reach his potential in Minnesota with perennial incompetence in the front office and in the coaching staff.

I'd feel a lot better about his future all-NBA potential if he stayed in Cleveland. But we're trading him for someone who already is All-NBA and did so in Minnesota. Wiggins, right now, is best suited for a system where he doesn't have to create a lot off-the-dribble and he'll have to do that in Minnesota.

Again, agreed. He's going to have so much pressure to be a star in Minny, from the start, and I just don't see it. He's not a LBJ or KD but will be very good, eventually. As you said in your first sentence....an awesome 'prospect.' He's 'hope' right now and has proven nothing. I do think that over time he would've blossomed into something very good here but I'm skeptical he's going to be a superstar in Minny.

And even if he becomes a superstar in Minnesota but we win a championship with Love, I still do that trade every single time.

Exactly. LBJ is almost 30. He's not going to be a thoroughbred forever. Gotta strike while the iron's hot.

Hardly a stretch to say KD was better in his one college year than Wiggns was. My main point is what the others are saying, we have a great chance to win now, and people want to salivate over prospects.
  • Rotinaj
Now we have to hope AV, Kyrie, and Love can stay healthy for the year. What are the odds we have all 3 for playoffs? Is it better than 50/50?

Jaret Wright vs Pedro Martinez Syndrome ;)

Being that CBS media owns the billboard, as a national company they aren't going to give a shit where you want to put it if you're willing to pay

I think Wiggins will be good but I doubt we're going to have buyers remorse since I don't think he'll reach the assumed potential with his supporting cast in Minny. This team is going to be REAL fun to watch this year. Not sure they can get by San Antonio though.
Never know with San Antonio. Age is a bitch. Look how great the Celtics were, then they just kinda tanked.

Delusional. You didn't watch wiggins at KU-fact.

He didn't dominate because he played in a system that didn't allow one person dominating a game. Not to mention, everything about wiggins game screams NBA. Kid is a stud and will be a top nba player.

I was excited to see him play with LeBron. I still think he will be good, but Minny will continue to suck for years to come.

By the way, my feelings on this trade have very little to do with my affiliation with Kansas lol I don't care about college affiliations when they're in the NBA. I fucking hate Michigan but trey Burke was one of my favorite players to watch last year.

My vibe on this trade is more to do with Love being a fantasy stud, not much of a winner. He can certainly prove me wrong and I hope he does but I will take a lock down defending 3 point shooter (wiggins right now) over another scorer who plays average D. Then you throw in the "sky is the limit" potential with wiggins as icing on the cake.

    Just my opinion

Biggest non obvious winner in all of this is Dion. Either him or Wiggins was gone. If Dion goes to Minny, his rep as poor shooting shot chucker would have been cemented. Now he may be a starter playing with Bron. Everything about his game will improve or he won't play

Seems like the cavs we're negotiating against themselves. Giving up wiggins was the deal breaker for me for all the reasons I've said. Glad we got love and I'll stop bitching about the trade and enjoy but I'm extremely disappointed to give up IMO the best prospect since KD, a kid with hof type potential for an oft injured big that wanted out of his team and would ONLY sign with the cavs. Poor dealing by the FO IMO. Wiggins, kyrie, lbj off the table. Take anything else or GFY should have been the trading demands.

    No excuses now LBJ, win.

    Pretty much my thoughts

All of this. Id tell every team that wants to deal for wiggins to fuck right off. Add in the fact that no one was dealing with Minnesota, and they hosed us.

Just to add to the conversation:
From Woj's article, "Part of the Cavaliers' motivation in making the deal for Love was a belief Love would have ended up with the rival Chicago Bulls in a trade and created a significant obstacle in the Eastern Conference, sources said."

Lebron, Love and Varejao on the boards, good luck beating them on the glass lol

This would of been an awesome ECF to watch if Rose comes back the same player. I'd take the Cavs in 7.

Not to mention Thompson had quite a few double doubles last year.

Yes they will dominate the back boards, which will lead to transition and Love is the best outlet passer in the game along with Lebron.

You talk about potential before he's played a game (fine) but then you call him a lock down defender and three point shooter before he's played a game (not fine).

The hope is that he becomes a lock down defending three point shooter but right now it's still an unknown. He didn't look like a lock down defender when Isaiah Canaan(!!) beat him off the dribble to seal the game. He's young and he's not going to be a stud right away but that's how you're making it sound.

Wow you actually agree with me on something? lol He got beat a ton in the summer league, but he will get stronger and better. Also not great at creating offense and an inconsistent jump shooter who shoots a knuckleball. I believe he will eventually be great but he may never reach Kevin Love's impact on the game.

And I'll gladly each crow if Wiggins makes 1st or 2nd all NBA in the next 3-4 years but I simply don't see it happening in Minnesota. It might have happened here, playing under Lebron, but not in MN.
