I thinks he's saying by giving every kid on the team a blue ribbon...they will turn into ***** gaybaits. But I could be wrong...

Unless it's you, how is it up to you to accept or not?

I never once saw Michael Sam say that.

Because he told his entire team, and scouts already knew it. It was going to come out, so he just went ahead and announced it.

Check out the neanderthal below's twitter response to Sam's announcement. That is one reason why he did it to bring these kind of bigoted idiots out in the open. Please gun nutz go shoot a few of these folks...oh wait many of you share the same opinion.

Gay means happy when I was a kid. There was another name for what Sam's is proclaiming he is CCKSCKR, you can spell it out all it need's is 3 vowels OUE. What ever team he ends with My boys and family will not watch. that team play ever.

Unreal. That rivals some of the Twitter backlash on the Coke Super Bowl ad. Too bad that guy already has kids as he would be an excellent candidate for sterilization.

That's usually what happens. Idiot tweets something stone age (racist, homophobic, etc.), gets called out for it, deletes Twitter account and then in likelihood starts up another one.

I will say the same thing I did when Jason Collins came out...it's absolutely ridiculous that we have to start making "news" out of who someone chooses to have a relationship with.

I know IWP disagreed with it (shocking) but there was a hope that 10% of the population identified as homosexuals when the 2010 census was done, the statistics came back as around 1% or less than. Same comment I had toward the NBA that I'll say about the NFL -- there's somewhere around 1696 NFL players (32 teams with rosters of 53) and we need to identify 16-17 players who may identify themselves as homosexual? Why? What's it matter where and with whom 17 players choose to lay their heads down at night with.

It is completely unnecessary for any media outlet to carry any information regarding this. Let them go on with their business how they want. Same thing goes for people like Tiger Woods and Wilt Chamberlain. Not too many people praised Tiger Woods when his infidelity came to light. He was completely ridiculed and trashed. Why doesn't ESPN continuously cover Wilt's 20,000 women he slept with? Why doesn't ESPN carry coverage of Muhammad Ali's 9 kids with 5 women? Antonio Cromartie doesn't really make ESPN headlines with his 12 kids with 9 women. Frick, Lolo Jones doesn't really get any ESPN or NYT coverage about her celibacy -- same went for Michael Redd. It's a double standard.

Some "experts" estimate that between 1-4% of the population are psychopaths...when can we start calling for those psychopaths to start identifying themselves? We need to bring them to the forefront and ensure they get loads of media coverage with numerous podcasts, webcasts, vlogs, articles, front page stories, and consistent interview opportunities.

It matters because of posts like this. Instead of saying, why isn't ESPN doing stories on Drew Brees and his marriage to his wife, you went straight to Tiger Woods Infidelity, Wilt Chamberlain being a man whore and people have multiple kids out of wedlock with multiple women. You then ended your posts asking why aren't psychopaths identified since there are roughly the same amount of psychopaths as gays according to you.

And you are asking why is it news?

Oh...guess what, you forgot to mention Lolo Jones and Michael Redd, who I did mention. Why skip over them? Does that not fit what you are trying to say too?

I mentioned Tiger, Wilt, Lolo, Muhammad, Antonio, and Michael for a reason...they ALL have various backgrounds of where they are in their lives (marriage, kids, celibacy, etc.). Oh, but let me guess, you didn't pick that out of there did you? You just wanted to list the "bad" ones because that's essentially what I did right? You really wanted to add a whole lot of nothing to a topic that has already strayed far away.

So, why aren't psychopaths identified too? I'm not saying psychopaths are the same as homosexuals, but percentage of population-wise, the estimations are there (actually, some may even say there are more psychopaths than homosexuals). Some could say that psychopaths are the same as homosexuals...as in saying it's all hereditary, or any other sort of scientific claim one may lean towards.

Adding Lolo or Redd doesn't help you, it actually proves my point more. I get you are uncomfortable with gay people.

There isn't much too add to the discussion because his reasoning was just to get it out of the way before some media outlet brought it up later. The only people making it a bigger issue are the "OMG, why is he throwing his gayness all over the place" people.

It is news because unfortunately people are killed, hated, discriminated, condemned to hell and abandoned by friends/family for being gay.

You are either being naive or ignorant.

People are killed, hated, discriminated, condemned to hell and abandoned because of all sorts of reasons -- (ironically, the same can be said for numerous other belief systems). I don't see them making headline news from every media source, do you?

You continue to skirt around the numerous backgrounds I introduced -- various, with no real similarities between them except for how some received much coverage (Tiger) to little coverage (Wilt, Antonio, Lolo, Michael, and Muhammad). Heck, look at what The Bachelor even does with the media...and most news outlets have failed to report his 2 years of backed child support he was taken to court over (this guy had a sport background too). I don't care to hear about ANY of it (but you fail to recognize that too). I don't care about Lolo's love life. I don't care about Wilt's. I don't care about Tiger's. But, if you are going to cover one, why not cover all? Why not cover polygamist athletes too? Why just cover the homosexual athlete?

Who cares if he "got it out of the way" whenever or however he did? Why does it make a difference? That's my question. Why does it matter who sleeps with who and how they do it? I referred a statistic, and you discredited it...why? Do psychopaths not deserve the same attention or love that any other person should be getting too? Shouldn't we be bringing psychological issues to the forefront too? Shouldn't they have an outlet to go to and get support for?

I watch sports for the sport. I don't tune into sports for politics, religion, human sexuality, or economics. If I wanted any or all of those, I'd seek it out then. I would expect that to be covering all of what I want too.

It's news because it's a first for major sports in America. Had it leaked before he said something, it would've been an even bigger story.

Because it's not the "norm". I agree with you, and think one day it won't be news, but we're far from that point. Anytime someone is something that 99% of the population is not, they're going to make news, especially in a situation like playing football.

You answered your own question. It's news because you're talking about it. It's news because someone decided to report on it. It's news because someone somewhere decided to put Michael Sam's words into print form.

Got any other questions with obvious answers?
