That give and go was a thing of beauty. Michael Bradley is quickly becoming one of my favorite players.

    Yesssss

Brad Davis had a solid first half. Jozy still not very appealing to me, lackluster runs/creativity.

I'm hoping Jurgen will sub in Yedlin, Aron, and Green to finish the match. It'd be good to see if they can hold this lead OR build onto it.
  • Fab1b
Defense really has some work to do!
  • gorocks99
Yeah, defense needs to figure it out. I like Yedlin. Chandler sucked today. Jozy was better, Green has all the flashes of talent but needs more time against good competition. Overall happy with today's performance.
  • Ytowngirlinfla
Chandler and Brooks just not good enough. Poor jozy no confidence.
  • Fab1b
Jozy is really laboring to make something happen
  • OSH
Crazy that David Villa and Lampard will both be in NYCFC blue in 2015.

Looks like Ronaldo is fighting to be fit for the WC. This maybe good news for the US.

    Is he hurt?
  • Automatik
    Tendinitis and thigh injury.

Anyone see Neymar's goal FK and assist from their friendly the other day? The kid is going to do some real damage in the WC.

OB, it's been 30 days right? Can I change my avatar to something Cleveland or USA now please?
  • Automatik
    Michael Bradley avatar!

You'll be surprised with who I go with. I played my first "organized" soccer in like 15 years this past fall during my last set of intramurals and played a half-decent RB and I had a freaking blast so I've been much more aware/appreciative of defenders since then.
  • Automatik
Right back is probably my favorite position...especially one can score regularly.

Yes, good job. Look forward to betting you on the next EPL season!

I recently moved to right back on my team and it's been amazing.

My positions have gone as follows:

Club- Center Mid (from u9-u18) except when we were winning in certain situations and I would move back to sweeper
    High School - Sweeper
College Freshman - Right and Left Back
College Sophomore -Sweeper (redshirted after game 7)
    College Jr - Right Mid/Winger
    College Senior - Center Mid
College 5th Year - Center Forward
Adult League (start my senior year of hs and have played since) - outside mid, center mid, striker, and now RB.

College was weird because I moved around so much, but I started every single game I was healthy for. By my jr year, I pretty much got to pick my position though because my coach and I were buds. We lost to OSH's team my 5th year in what is considered the worst loss of my life. Fuck you OSH. Although, I did have one of the best assists of my career and we were up 2-0 when I was taken out bc im a bitch and was cramping up (lost 3-2).

My favorite is probably right back honestly, it combines the possession and organization of sweeper, with the going forward ability of a winger.

tl;dr - fuck OSH for his shitty coaching, although at the time he had a great beard.

I made good enough runs to score, but my offensive game is so pathetic I wasn't a threat. Had a couple awesome opportunities I coulda finished if I was good at heading or controlling my shots lol.

I just had a lot of fun playing defense man. I translated my Patrick Beverly "annoying pest" defensive mindset from basketball to soccer.

I loved going forward. Since our right mid wasn't in great shape there would even be a couple of times where I'd "steal" his position and he would hang out just inside midfield in case of a counter.

Thankfully a teammate/classmate of mine played at Wisconsin so he pretty much ran shit for us lol.

Yeah. My team plays a 4-5-1 so there is always opportunities to get forward, even if the RM is still up near the box. I scored a 35 yard shot last sunday in what coudl be considered my all time greatest Sunday League, still hungover just trying to put the ball on frame and got lucky moment.
  • Laley23
Fuck defense. Played that for 12 years growing up. Finally had a coach on club move me to forward and never looked back. Scoring goals is fun!!
  • Laley23
In all seriousness though, defense is an awesome position to play when you do it right.

Agreed. The worst position BY far is outside mid in a 4-5-1. You don't get to be a winger really, and you have very little link up play with the CF so you have to run constantly.

That's awesome. I'm not even sure how close to the frame I could get a shot from 35 yards. I'm that bad with shooting since I quit during youth league and 15 years off didn't really help.
