Browns New Coach

Allowing a league worst conversion percentage on 3rd downs, allowing red zone TD's two thirds of the time, and creating the 8th fewest turnovers in the NFL are all a result of the coach, in my opinion. We have a Pro Bowl corner in Haden and a much improved corner in Skrine, a Pro Bowl alternate safety who graded out as the #2 SS in the NFL, a very solid inside linebacker in D'Qwell Jackson, some solid guys on the defensive front in Rubin and Taylor, and improved edge pass rushers with the draft of Mingo and signing of Kruger. Our biggest weaknesses in my opinion are Robertson at ILB and Gipson at FS.

Looking at that roster, there's no reason we should have been the worst in the league on 3rd downs and given up as many red zone TD's as we did. Horton can be predictable at times, and teams obviously are starting to figure him out.

Agreed, especially the bolded part. Many of those 3rd down conversions were on 3rd and long situations. That's on coaching. Also there were reports on OBR, that players were bitching about Horton's play calling.

I guess we'll see what the new DC can do with this group.

Six HC openings...my bet is Clowns end up with either 5th or 6th consensus ranked new hire. Anybody wanna challenge me? The Skins job will be tough to fill becuz the owner is nuts but he has more money than the Gas Station attendant.

How would you even prove that?

Hearing Gus Malzahn is Browns top Choice.

    Jason La Canfora @JasonLaCanfora
Gus Malzahn (Auburn) very much a top candidate for CLE. Vandy's James Franklin in the mix. One of them or McDaniels expected to get that job

Scratch O'Brien, Espn says he's going to Texans

Didn't Malzahn just sign a major extension?

Since when has an extension stopped a coach from doing anything?

I really like malzahn. If he is hired look for Johnny to be a brown.

I actually think Johnny football would be a great fit with malzahn and his style. If we hire malzahn I would be ok with it. Either him or bortles

I would much rather have Hundley than Manziel if Malzahn is the guy.

It's meant to stop the Browns or whoever. Cleveland would have to probably pay an insane buyout

Lazy journalism. Same ol, well he got fired in one year, so now EVERYONE IS AFRAID bs. Based on personnel the Browns gig is a great job, especially with 2 first round picks. Sign your pro bowlers, draft a QB, and the coach is looking at a pretty good roster going into his first year.

Idk maybe it's because I'm an outsider but I agree with him, the franchise is awful, the division has 3 very solid teams right now, and who do the Browns have? Houston and Detroit are far more talented, god Foster/Tate and Johnson/Watkins is absolutely lethal combined with Watt and a solid defensive front that team is QB away from 11 wins. The Lions have Stafford, Bush, maybe the best WR ever in his prime to go with a great front 7. I'd say behind Washington, it's 4th

Pittsburgh and Baltimore are not in great shape.

You can also loll at it like this....if I'm a young coach awaiting the chance, I want somewhere like Cleveland because not many pieces are needed and IF you can get this franchise over the hump, you'll forever be a God.

Little risk with very high reward potential for a coach with the Cleveland job IMO

You literally have no idea what you are talking about, you just wanted to talk about the Lions

The Browns have Gordon/Cameron and a solid front 7 on D. Plus 2 first round picks and a ton of cap space.

Foster might never be the same and Tate could be gone.
  • Mulva
Will Brinson also ranks the Browns last. I think Detroit and Houston are clearly 1-2, but beyond that none of the other options stand out as great situations to me. 3 have horrible QB situations, and the Redskins have no D and no picks.
