Great point. I'm sure it was nice just being able to throw the ball up and having someone as talented as Evans go get it.Laley23;1571663 wrote:Just give me one of the guys who isnt playing with an NFL WR or NFL O-Line. Bridgewater or Bortles. Not Manziel. -
DeyDurkie5Knocking a guy for the talent around him is being picky imo.
-
se-alumI tend to lean toward guys that ran a pro-style offense in college, that's a big reason why I like Bortles. Also, he has a nice combination of a strong arm and the ability to make plays with his legs.
-
sportchamppsI would pick Bortles first out of all the QBs after that I think their they ll have strengths and weaknesses and team should pick the ones that will fit what they are trying to do best. I. The 2nd group I would include Bridgewater Johnny and even Carr.

Good stuff. I'd like to see how many of the completions from 1-20 yards led to yards after catch. It's one thing to complete a pass, it's another to complete a pass while allowing your WR to pick up extra yardage. We saw all too many times, Weeden would complete a 5 yard pass, but it wouldn't put the WR in position to gain more yardage.lhslep134;1571719 wrote:For anyone who wants to look at some accuracy numbers:

Definitely agree. I read more into a QB's ball placement than completion percentage.se-alum;1571723 wrote:It's one thing to complete a pass, it's another to complete a pass while allowing your WR to pick up extra yardage.
I also liked the article's breakdown of blitz/no blitz and pressure/no pressure -
se-alum
That was another weakness of Weeden's that was overlooked. His completion % under pressure was well under 50% in college.lhslep134;1571729 wrote:Definitely agree. I read more into a QB's ball placement than completion percentage.

Overlooked by the Browns, not by us. If you go back to the thread leading up to the draft, I know at least COA and I harped on Weeden's crappiness under pressure. I'm fairly certain we all talked about it and used it as one of the reasons we wanted nothing to do with the Gingerse-alum;1571745 wrote:That was another weakness of Weeden's that was overlooked. Agree, might even get to pick from two of three if Clowney and a lineman (Matthews?) get picked in top 3.like_that;1571632 wrote:Fuck that. If any of the 3 QBs are available you take one at 4. Quit playing games with the position. All three of them can make the browns better. Sure as hell not joining the "manziel or bust" bandwagon. -

He's head and shoulders above the other 2. And the media has been blitzing that the Browns are going to trade up in order to get him.Automatik;1571609 wrote:You really think Manziel is a step above the other highly rated QBs? As much as that you don't even want to bother with the others?
I think that's insane!
IMO I think Bortles or Bridgewater could satisfy the Cleveland fanbase. -

I did too. I hated weeden, obviously lollhslep134;1571817 wrote:Overlooked by the Browns, not by us. The way I read the article, the argument for Manziel based on throwing alone is pretty compelling. And they don't even mention the huge advantage for Manziel for both running and scrambling. One of my best friends is a die hard Steeler fan...and a die hard A & M. fan. He says Manziel is the best football player ever to play at A & M and he says the Steeler division reign will end if the Browns draft Manziel. He's a guy that has watched him play every single down for 2 years.lhslep134;1571719 wrote:For anyone who wants to look at some accuracy numbers:

Anyone that thinks all 3 are the same have no idea what they are talking about. -
FootwedgeAlso...regarding the stats on Manziel, Bortles and Bridgewater. Manziel didn't post those numbers playing in the American Athletic Conference. The SEC is over rated, no doubt. But the defenses are far superior than the 2 star recruits playing in the American Athletic Conference.
-
sportchamppsComparing any of their stats is hard to do. There are just too many variables. People could argue Manziel played against tougher teams while others could argue he had more talent around him helping produce those stats.
i would argue he did it in a Kevin Sumlin offense. Remember how good Case Keenum's numbers were. -

Is your friend a retard? Just wondering because I'm pretty sure that the last two years ended the Steelers' reign far more effectively than any potential 2014 draft pick by any divisional opponent would.Footwedge;1571831 wrote:The way I read the article, the argument for Manziel based on throwing alone is pretty compelling. That steelers fan seems very logical compared to non.Heretic;1571950 wrote:Is your friend a retard? Just wondering because I'm pretty sure that the last two years ended the Steelers' reign far more effectively than any potential 2014 draft pick by any divisional opponent would. -
Ironman92We're not all retarded. There are certainly some dandies though lol

lol'd. Was thinking the same thing. Steelers haven't won the division the past 3 years, that's one hell of a reign.Heretic;1571950 wrote:Is your friend a retard? Laley23Steelers have been losing more recently. Stands to reason their fans would get a little dumber. Cut them a break.

SportsAndLadyI love how that quote from non pretty much ran him off this site lol

There's been a lot of stupid stuff on this website, but that argument by non was easily the most stupid.SportsAndLady;1571970 wrote:I love how that quote from non pretty much ran him off this site lol -

You read the article wrong. The only thing that article proved was that Carr is overrated. The other 3 were all pretty equal.Footwedge;1571831 wrote:The way I read the article, the argument for Manziel based on throwing alone is pretty compelling. Not that it matters now, but you can put me on the list of people who harped on that. I wanted nothing to do with Weeden. There was a very small minority that was ok with Weeden. I know BR, and another poster would let us know that Weeden would have been a top 5 pick if he came out the following draft, or if he was in his early 20's.
