Give me a guy like Pettine who is out to prove something over a guy who has failed somewhere else and will bring the same failed logics here.
But I agree with you for the most part. The only slight difference of an opinion I would have is that many times it is the right place at the right time, and a talented guy may get fired at a place but learns the ropes and maybe the second go around tweaks a few things.
Plus it seems like owners prefer a guy with HC experience, even if he stunk, over a guy with none.
Could be worse...could be like the Cowboys caoching right now. Man is that an absolute clusterfuck. -

I asked Josh Gordon if Brian Hoyer should be the starter: 'Man, that's above my head, but Brian's a great guy, great quarterback.' #Browns -

But I'm also a fan of getting Shanahan. -
Lovejoy1984Solid hire. Did good things with RG3 last season, this season you chalk up to RG3 not being "right" all season.
-
gport_tennisIt was more than just rg3 coming off an ACL injury. As a Redskins fan I watch for their games than anybody here, either Mike Shanahan or Kyle Shanahan made the conscious effort to abandon the run almost all year long. And it killed the Redskins offense. Hopefully be four your guys shake it was Mike's decision not Kyles

Not to bust balls, but they had the 5th ranked Rushing offense last season.gport_tennis;1575180 wrote:It was more than just rg3 coming off an ACL injury. gport_tennisIf you look at the stats on a first half / second half basis you would see more of what I'm talking about. 2 games off the top of my head are the Broncos game in the Cowboys game where we had like 80 90 yards rushing in the first half on 20 carries and then the second half we ran the ball 3 or 4 times and completely ignored Alfred Morris. We were winning both of those games up until the point where we abandon the run and then we immediately got trounced

like_thatI like the hire. Shannahan managed to make Cousins to look good in all of his starts.

mucalum49I'm okay with the Pettine hire but my drunk impulsive side has to laugh that they didn't take Dan Quinn more serious after tonight

Carroll's hands are all over that defense though. The Browns will keep Quinn in mind for next year though.mucalum49;1575626 wrote:I'm okay with the Pettine hire but my drunk impulsive side has to laugh that they didn't take Dan Quinn more serious after tonight -

No, the right thing would have been to say "I would have highly considered the job." Not pretty much say he would have taken the job, meanwhile knowing he would be employed on the Seahawks for another year...se-alum;1575734 wrote:It's the right thing for him to say, whether it was true or not.

Just stop.
The headline was misleading, he didn't say he would likely have taken the job."I certainly would've been interested,'' Quinn told cleveland.com. "I mean, it's a big-time place. It's the Cleveland Browns.'' -

I believe asst coaches need to strike while the iron is hot, and his is hot right now. You never know what a year can bring. He could possibly do a better job coaching next year but it not translate to the success on the field.
Years ago Chud lead the browns to a great offensive season. His stock was high. He stayed, then shit fell apart and it took him years to get another shot at being a HC.
as for Gase and yesterday....I think the SB had more to do with the front 4 of Seattle beating the OL of Denver. PM rarely has guys in his face and can sit back and look and look.
Not yesterday.
the DL for SEattle won this game. -

What are you even talking about? I simply said he did the right thing saying he would've been interested, keeping his options open for the future. Also, I never liked Gase, in fact I was very much against Gase, but don't let the facts get in the way of your trolling.like_that;1575764 wrote:You are right SE, everyone hates Cleveland.
