Whiz was my favorite, but wouldn't have had a problem with Lovie. At this point, wouldn't mind them interviewing Tress, heard a sound bite from him the other day that made it sound like he really wants to coach again. Also wouldn't have a problem with Stoops.

They already re-interviewed Wisenhunt, be fucking stupid not to at least interview the guy.

Sean Payton is the only one that turned around a bad team, and even at that, Drew Brees was a very big part of that. If the Browns were an established team already, I would have no problem with them going out and hiring a coordinator that they thought was a good fit, but at this point, they need someone that has shown they can win. If they're going to hire a coordinator, Zimmer would also be my choice.

Gase by all accounts has been a huge part of the Broncos success this season, not just Manning.
Disagree. Is Gase the offensive cordinator...or is it Manning? All those "Omahas" yelled out by Peyton are the changing of Gase's play calls. There can't be a more can't lose job than being the offensive coordinator for Peyton Manning. That's why I wouldn't hire McDaniels either.

If those in charge feel Zimmer is one of the top candidates but don't interview him because of last year's hire.

Better late than never....hate when one doesn't admit being wrong.

So if a QB changes a play at the LOS because of the defense on the field, it's the OC's fault for calling a shitty play? LOL

Also gotta love how footwedge thinks he knows what manning is calling when he says "Omaha." Could be a smokescreen for all we know.

Is this Gase first year as an OC in the NFL.
  • sportchampps
BTW I think Gase had the unlucky assignment of being the QB coach for Tebow in Denver.

I would like to see the Mexican coach from friday night tykes get an interview.

I just saw the trailer and decided I had to work the show into a post somehow.

Manning is a chronic bullshitter at the LoS. Just because he is always yelling shit doesn't mean he is changing the play. Also, Manning is the smartest QB in the history of the game, the OC isn't looking at what formation the defense is in before he calls the play. Of course he will make a change if he thinks it will work out better.

LSU tailback declaring...another RB option for us mid-rounds
  • se-alum
OC's in the NFL are for scheming and game planning, not really for calling plays during the game. If your QB isn't smart enough to audible into the right play, you're not going to be a very successful offense. That's why it's 90% mental for NFL QB's. It'd be interesting to know how often the original play call is actually ran during the case of the game. I think Peyton said you're lucky if you get the perfect play call twice a game.

    Same w/ Zona's RB declaring.

Lots of good options for 2nd-4th round picks to fill our RB opening.

Munchak will be there if we don't get Gase.

Any idea where they are projecting Hyde?
  • se-alum
I've seen Hyde anywhere from round 2-4, but it's the same for most of the top tier RBs.

When I woke up yesterday, a lot of the Bengals media guys were retweeting from the Vikings guys that Zimmer to there was pretty much a done deal. Apparently not, though, as nothing official ever came of it. Seems like he always get very close to committing somewhere every offseason but ends up staying in Cincy.

"Omaha" was a snap count indicator. It was live or "turned off" on various drives, and had nothing to do with the play call itself.

Do you not read what you post? You literally said all those "omahas" Peyton calls out are audibles changing the play.

Edit: this is meant for footwedge, not iggy. My bad.

...or calls for the play not to change or dummy calls or Peyton being bored or Peyton ordering some steaks.

My bad iggy, I meant to direct those posts at footwedge. I always get you two mixed up since you two are the most radical browns posters.

At this point it has to be obvious they are targeting one of the remaining coordinators to be the HC. Either Quinn, or Gase would be the choice, I have to assume.

Just hoping that privately they've at least expressed interest in interviewing and/or the position itself once the season is over, if not, not gonna be pretty.

And please no Munchak. I'd much rather take an unproven commodity like a coordinator, than a HC who we know exactly what he brings, and its not much.

Just saw Browns gave permission for Horton to Interview for positions around the league, even lateral moves.
