A good amount of quarterback success is due to coaching too, which is why I'm also concerned about the QB situation next year. Not necessarily just the head coach, but the offensive coaches in general.Rotinaj;1566194 wrote:If they get a QB that isn't awful. -
wes_mantoothRandom but....Mary Kay Cabot is just awful. I honest think she gets her updates from Twitter...she sucks

Agreed. You don't need that many WR weapons. Just ask the Bengals how that worked out for them when they had CJ, Housh, and the guy who died (forgot his name).Rotinaj;1566194 wrote:If they get a QB that isn't awful. Honestly, that would be overkill IMO. If they were to get Edelman(I highly doubt this happens) I wouldn't want a first round WR.

I know, and look how good Hoyer looked before forgetting he doesn't know how to slide properly. But if Chud was losing the locker room, he wasn't the right man to lead us.like_that;1566223 wrote: Whiz is good with QBs. -

I highly doubt it happens, too, now that he's blown up this year. But they were reportedly interested last year.Rotinaj;1566194 wrote:If they were to get Edelman(I highly doubt this happens)

Or the 2011 Giants with Cruz, Nicks, and Manningham.
Or the 2010 Packers with Jennings, Nelson, Driver, and James Jones.
Or the 2009 Saints, who had 7 guys with 35+ catches. Chris Henry only had that many receptions once in his career, by the way.
You can never have too many offensive weapons. -

Sounds more like great QB play than the WRs to me. Those QBs make those guys look a hell of a lot better.Mulva;1566249 wrote:I highly doubt it happens, too, now that he's blown up this year. But they were reportedly interested last year.

shook_17Gase is the number one target. This franchise is a joke a rookie OC, only been coaching since 2009. Lets be honest mannings success is not due to Gase. A fucking joke, so much for the proven winner theory. Banner and Lombardi need to be gone.
Im calling it next year will be the same shit. This years two first round draft picks will look like shit and Banner and Lombardi willbe fired -

Citing conversations with people around the league, NFL Network's Albert Breer says the feeling is the Browns' head-coaching job is viewed as "radioactive."
"Tough spot for them," added Breer of the Browns, who were quickly spurned by Patriots OC Josh McDaniels. The Browns have an alleged-criminal owner and kicked Rob Chudzinski aside after one year on the job, also letting outstanding coordinators Ray Horton and Norv Turner leave without a fight. There is no franchise quarterback or running back on the roster. It's not surprising coaches around the league aren't lining up to succeed Chudzinski. -

Figured the media was being overdramatic with their BS, but also it sounds like Banner needs to look himself in the mirror or he wont be around anytime soon.Fast Lane Notes

- In speaking with a cgood friend to theOBR and experienced, successful AFC personnel man -- the Browns HC search is sketchy and only Jimmy Haslam can rectify the situation.
Word around the league is the Browns have been indecisive in the message they are sending to candidates, but Haslam has gotten significantly louder and clearer to what HE wants in a candidate, which could spell trouble coming in the Cleveland front office.
When asking our OBR friend about the candidates available, theOBR was told, "If you want an offensive coach you go with Gase and take a few lumps as he gets his feet wet, but the young man is a great communicator, has a solid background and is dynamic. Don't worry about his age, he will be a good one if given the proper support."
"If you want a defensive minded coach you go with (Dan) Quinn, another high-energy, high-demand type coach that believes in responsibility and chaos in scheme.
And if you were running the Browns search, is there a candidate you'd have no interest in?
"Of those named or known? I probably wouldn't hire Josh McDaniels at this time unless he could really sell me that he has changed -- has his ego and temper under control and realize that the organization he would walk into isn't New England and he isn't Bill Belichick."
- Ken Whisenhut's interview with the Browns is said to have been a solid discussion about the organization and Whisenhut's experience and what he could provide. The Browns have not offered the HC position to Whisenhut unofficially.
- The perception that the Browns FO and organization in general is cast in a negative light across the league. While true, the Browns haven't had the problem discussing their situation with those across the league and candidate types as many in the media are attempting to portrait.
- The Browns could have a HC in-tow if they were 100% sold on any candidate. Despite the skepticism of candidates and the perception of the organization, the Browns job has appeal especially for a candidate seriously wanting to become a HC.
- Being said, the negativity has caused candidates to be skeptical of the Browns organization. In the interview process, I am told candidates have been pretty indifferent to not warming to Banner, whereas Haslam has been enlightening and wanting to know the candidates.
- A specific which appears to be rearing it's head is a disconnect between the team owner and Banner during the interview process. I am told Banner has a specific agenda and message in a HC candidate and what the job is, whereas Haslam has a much more open approach to the responsibilities and authority a HC could receive. This itself tells me Haslam has wavered in his support or total belief in Banner and his FO organization.
- Word is going around that former HC Rob Chudzinski has been blasting the Browns at every turn when discussing the organization with those around the league. I am told Chud has not gone on the record to discuss the Browns organization - but has spoken to people in the game about his situation.
Also, I like the sound of Dan Quinn MUCH better than Gase. -
Crimson streak
Banner is a joke. I don't see him being around much longer if him and haslam are not on the same page. It might be smart to cut ties with banner and Lombardi now instead of dragging it outlike_that;1566329 wrote:From OBR.

wes_mantoothYeah...banner and Lombardi will be gone after this year unless they hit a homerun with the draft. Still super puzzled as to why they were hired to begin with
-
IggyPride00Joe Banner is who we thought he was, and yet Haslam hired him anyway.
He is the biggest abortion in the history of Cleveland sports. -
iclfan2The Browns episode where they find the trophy the team made in 1946 is currently on the DIY network.
-
shook_17I really hope there is this much disconnect with these two. Banner is the reason no coach wants to come here. Lets cut bait now while we are currently the laughing stock.

Couldn't have said it any better.Banner is the reason no coach wants to come here.
With 5 Pro Bowlers, 2#1 picks, and a mountain of cap space this job should actually be appealing.
Instead we have a bean counter with a bad case of jock envy to go with a Napoleon complex running the show and driving good candidates away. The guy is the bridge troll whose petty jealousy of competent football people is sabotaging this organization. -

Dan Snyder has a far worse reputation than the Browns FO, and he was able to get the coach he wanted. In previous years when the browns made a quick hire people bitched that they rushed their decision and didn't take the time to consider all possible candidates. Now Haslam is taking his time and everyone is bitching that we haven't found a coach yet lol. Some people here just bitch to bitch. -
SonofanumpIf you want #2 = #4 + #26 + 4th & 6th.

se-alum"Waiting" is just dumb. The longer you wait, the smaller the pool of quality head coaches and assistants gets. At this point we're looking at having a head coach that has never been one before, and coordinators who were position coaches.

Commander of AwesomeLink?

bases_loadedHoly fucking shit. If the guy you want isn't interviewing till his team is out. You have to WAIT. If not you're just settling.
-
se-alumWanting a guy that is Peyton Manning's "OC" is an even bigger problem.
